I think the two counter-positions on what is and isn't racism have been articulated quite well. (and let's not start throwing insults at each other, please)Is there anything more we want to discuss with regard to Manveer and his views on BioWare? Well, there's always the question of "how was ME3's development different from MEA" since he worked on both.

It is a strawman because the person you were responding to was not making anything even resembling that argument. We just find the double standard highly annoying, frankly. White Tears, as a phrase, exists to make fun of that kind of person. I am explaining why White Tears is not offensive and Black Tears is, not saying that Cyan said that. Double standards don't exist when there is a power imbalance on one side of it. White Tears may exist to make fun of that specific type of person, but you could easily do so without invoking the entire racial group. The phrase is intended to mock any white person that asserts victimhood and thus belittle the idea that white people can be victims of prejudice. That's a very broad statement that does address the entire racial group, and it's a problem to me because it promotes precisely this kind of double standard. Most people who promote double standards believe they are justified, but it is still a double standard. At any rate, we do not live in a society where such a broad and unnuanced assertion of a power dynamic can be sustained. We do actually have a highly egalitarian society, contrary to your assertions, and we have quite a lot of non-white people that work their way into positons of authority. So, if one of those people abused their power to make racially discriminatory decisions that hurt white people working for them, would you still assert that this is not racism? Sociological system theories can make for interesting theoretical models, but they aren't meant to be applied to individuals, no more than you can apply averages to individuals.

From his twitter feed: Some other guy: "Oh man, didn't even realize it got that bad." Manveer: "Oh, it got worse than anyone on the outside probably realizes." Some other guy: "Could I ask if this piece was accurate?" (The Kotaku article). Manveer: "Most of that stuff was accurate, but there is a lot left out IMO" Sounds like there was a lot of internal conflict and infighting - but then again, consider the source... Sounds like he left of his own accord though. Why do you not have anything better to do than consistently post about a game you DON'T EVEN FUCKING OWN? I love laughing at you as much as everyone else, but it's getting pathetic now. Stop raging pls.

So you like how someone is bending backwards to explain how a bunch of black racists torturing a disabled white man while making racist comments isn't racism?
Imagine my shock.
I don't think it's bending over backwards. I think it's attempting a nuanced discussion of the challenge it poses to our language as we understand it, given the anomalous nature of this case and the actors' clearly racial motivations. And also how, regardless, it becomes a tool for white surpremacist alt-righters to use in order to prove a symmetry that does not in fact exist, as well as to smear POC protestors and "prove" that BLM is a hate movement. This has nothing to do with BLM. BLM is a social movement that actually values and invites white allyship and is not a black militant movement, and its organizers/leaders would not ever condone this. But the link you shared suggested as much.

This discussion appears to have run its course, and has moved into political debate that has little to do with Bioware. We're done here.
