Bring back the guy who dig the pit ME3 fell into? Drew Karpyshyn was not part of ME3's development. He left BioWare Edmonton after ME2 to work on SWTOR down in BioWare Austin.

I said the pit that ME3 fell into. The ME3 writers were trying to handle the mess he made of the Reapers. Drew was smart to skip town and leave them holding the bag.

Yah, I didn't see that either. EDIT : Oh there it is! Sorry, my blind hatred for this game must have blinded me. Thanks BioWare for ripping me off of $60 or $80 or whatever you ripped me off for. Thanks for a game that I couldn't even finish. I really really appreciate it.

Duh. I said the pit that ME3 fell into. The ME3 writers were trying to handle the mess he made of the Reapers. Drew was smart to skip town and leave them holding the bag. You are either being facetious, or far too cynical. We even know what Drew's plans were for the Reapers: The infamous "Dark Energy Theory." Whether it would have been better, or worse, is impossible to know as it was only ever teased in ME2. It was Casey and Mac's idea to focus the ending of ME3 on synthetics and organics and try to copy the ending of Deus Ex. It didn't help that the original release of the game just ended abruptly without closure or context, fueling the confusion even more. Had Drew still been there for ME3, I seriously doubt the ending would have been as disjointed and nonsensical as it was. Regardless, I'd bet money most Mass Effect fans would be happy to have him back on the franchise after he's done with Anthem.

I chose Other. I didn't hate MEA but I think it's just not going to work. It's not even a matter of story, which I think was fine. People are too unhappy with the product delivered to us at launch. That made it difficult for people to even see what was good about it.
All that being said, I'd rather they return to the MW. I honestly don't care which ending they choose but I'd probably pick one that allows the Leviathan to be the next threat. They could return, prepared to take control once more now that the Reaper threat is over. Perhaps they will even try to force a new plan on organics to prevent an organic vs. synthetic war arising, such as trying to shut down all AI.
In this idea, the AI would just not be a thing (not because I don't like it so much as because I like a lot of the cast and would love to see them get some use). The Ryder Twins (either or both) could get embroiled in the new war, maybe with Alec in the lead. Don't know how the others could fit, but I'd definitely like to see Drack, Peebee and Cora at the very least. And I'd also bring back the Nomad, or something like it, but with cannons like the Mako.
If we did go back to Andromeda, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I do think they'd take better care to make sure the problems present at launch were not there again. However, since they're wrapping it all up with novels and comics I just don't imagine MEA2 is in the works.

While that's a nice sentiment, it's simply not how business works. I'd like to see BioWare continue with a sequel to Mass Effect Andromeda, but I don't see it happening for probably five years. I have no problem waiting 5 years for MEA2... I do have a problem with producing and selling me a fun game, leaving all kinds of unanswered threads to tie, and then 5 month later saying "that's all folks". I feel like a sucker. Yes, exactly. I felt DLC could have saved this game but had lost any belief that it was coming. Hence, I distrust that BioWare (or, let's be honest, this was likely an EA decision) will try to make things right when they screw up and instead just abandon it again.

At this point my take on what I'd really want out of Mass Effect is fairly simple. I want a leader of a spaceship that will murder lots of people and aliens and whisk about the galaxy, while occasionally screwing people and/or aliens. If that keeps us in Andromeda or finds us back in the Milky Way, then so be it either way.
I will say this, however. If BioWare is going to take chances on games like these in the future, they need to feel more self contained, and not have pesky hooks that leave fans hanging. Teasing at the potential for future content isn't something they should do anymore. They should just go all out and begin and end the story in one big expansive game and not worry about what they might make in the future.

I chose for continuation but for me this whole affair has just damaged Bioware further in my estimations and trust. That they are prepared to dump a game in a series that has as high a profile as Mass Effect does, with so many loose ends dangling just makes me wary about what could happen with Dragon Age.
I'm not in the least bit surprised that this has happened as I pretty much believed the reports from the start (even though I felt it was the wrong move) and I stopped playing at that point.
I can honestly say I will NEVER have the slightest interest in a remaster of the original trilogy, that would be such a waste of time. Equally, I wouldn't be buying another game with Shepard, that would be the worst, her/His story is simply over. As to them trying something new? meh I'd need to see what they come up with, but I kind of think if they're not prepared to continue with the story they started in Andromeda, they should just put Mass Effect series to bed for good.

After sleeping a night over it, I'd like them to continue in Andromeda, even if I found MEA to be absolutely mediocre. Here's what I'd like: - More tone choices (not necessarily Paragon and Renegade, but something similar to it that allows to shape the character more distinctively) - Keep Ryder, but make them older and more experienced - Get Sam Hulick back Make a good, gripping OST - Don't put in boring side content, less is more - Drop the customisation, not entirely, but rather like in the MET where you can change a few bits and pieces - Bring back the set class system - Bring back squadmate control (and tactical pause) - Focus on exploring a new cluster and first contact war. This story was always something I'd like to have played in MET and frankly, wanted to see in MEA already. - Make the tone more fitting
Or just let ME die. I'll always have the trilogy.

Agreed, if only because it'd mean that I couldn't use EGM and the other mods that vastly improve ME3.

I'm not opposed to going back in Andromeda but if you ask me what my heart truly wants is a game set after MET with Destroy canon where you are dealing with the fallout of the catalyst and rebuild and bring order to the galaxy.

Wait a few years. Release Anthem and DA4. Then make either Destroy or Control canon and make a game set after ME3 in the MW. That's the way forward. Make destroy canon with Shepard alive

They definitely should continue the Andromeda story. The old "milky way" stuff is death and buried, and I do not in any way believe necromancy will "save" the ME series (I am convinced the opposite is true).
There are too much open and loose ends in ME:A to end the story. If they try to resurrect that stuff in that old galaxy, I guess I will pass, and do not buy it. But that's just me I guess..

My #1 choice would be a new story set 100+ years after the destroy ending in the MW.
However, I'm not opposed to a new game set in Andromeda. Most of what they did wrong with this game (writing quality, pacing, lore inconsistencies, poor animations and character designs, repetitive enemies, bad gameplay design decisions, etc) can easily be fixed/avoided in the next one. They could even still use the Ryder twins, although I wouldn't make it a direct sequel. Set it a decade later when the Ai is properly established in the cluster and then focus on the 'big' unresolved themes - Kett empire, Jardaan, Scourge.
Let's not forget that if Bioware Edmonton does well with Anthem and DAI then a lot of the MEA issues would effectively be swept under the rug. At that point I'd trust them to make MEA2 a good game.
