Yep, Harbinger. Call it a typo....will go fix it now.
Though in my defense, he wasn't shot at by Sovereign in that scene either.

The theory I liked is that the whole thing is a psionic interface, like the Geth Consensus mission. Nothing's physically real, and shooting the gun is just a kind of metaphor. I always loved how Shepard didn't know whether to be insulted or not, that the Geth felt Shepard would be most comfortable using debugging software if it looked like a BFG. Makes me wonder what it'd appear like to other people, would Tali have seen it as an omni-tool/combat drone?

Gotta go with Shepard, as he/she is the marysue supersoldier at the outset the fanbase apparently needs. There was nothing Mary Sue about ME3's endings though... Shepard got screwed over in every option. Mary Sue would have been: 'defying all odds, they all lived happily ever after'.

Remember as Shepard gets up, Harbinger is seen flying away, voices can be heard over the comms saying everyone didn't make it. Retreat, fallback. Why didn't Anderson say disregard that order. The reaper has flown away. Everyone to the beam, now. His comms worked fine when talking with Shepard after the destroyer was destroyed. His comms were working fine after getting up the beam. He did say, at the fob, no retreat, no stepping back. We move forward at all costs. So what changed? The other thing is did everyone suffer from temporary blindness not to see the reaper fly away? I wonder if they all went to the eye doctor after the reapers were destroyed? Don't know. I always wished that the beam run wasn't scripted into a cut scene, and instead you actually had to dodge Harbinger's firing the entire time, with everyone else being a diversion, and if you get hit, it's game over, which would make way more sense. I mean, Shepard somehow survives Harbinger's blast, but the relatively puny Destroyer on Rannoch totally incinerates.

Shepard got screwed over in every option. Mary Sue would have been: 'defying all odds, they all lived happily ever after'. I was being cheeky about Shepard, as the Mary Sue definition applies very loosely. I think with the botched launch and issues with the story made the Ryder character at the story's outset a whipping boy/girl for some of the more histrionic detractors. Beyond legit problems with the protagonists dialogue and little control over his/her personality for the player, some people just can't handle that Ryder was a more ordinary person thrown into an extraordinary situation. Shepard's situation was obviously extraordinary from the outset of ME1, but he/she was the XO of humanity's finest cutting edge combat/recon vessel after a highly decorated career as a top elite soldier already. Then he/she became the first human spectre. I just notice a correlation between the most emphatic pathological hate over ME:A and those who hate Ryder for reasons beyond clunky characterization. Shepard was young boy fantasy.

Hmm, who wins? The cyborg commando who came back from the dead with a vengeance or the wet-behind-the-ears rookie?
Very difficult choice.

Shepard got screwed over in every option. Mary Sue would have been: 'defying all odds, they all lived happily ever after'. You forgot: 1. No real character flaws. 2. World revolves around them. 3. Extreme competence in an ridiculous variety of areas. 4. Author makes them have multiple love interests or, in the case of the Mary Sue not being the hero, the main love interest of the protagonist. Liara exhibits a lot of these traits as well as flat out inconsistent character development. (Taking player choice VERY seriously I guess. : /)

The real question is. Who would win in a fistfight: Shepard, Ryder or Doomslayer? My money is on Doomslayer.

And when we arrest them, do we execute them for heresy or do we execute them for intolerable stupidity?

Is there a point to this thread other bashing ME:A because this thread is just fucking stupid. That's pretty much it. So why are you reading it? (I'm here for amusement.) FWIW, I think people have it backwards. There's no conceptual reason why Ryder can't load a martial arts profile and be instantly superior to Shepard at fistfighting. Just as Ryder can instantly be better than anyone else at anything they do. Ryder's the ultimate Mary Sue of the MEU.

(Leaving out the berserker armor) My vote: Guts, dude got hit by a demon flying a supersonic speeds and still kicked it's ass.

Just sayin' I stick by my "punch a giant metal death snake to death" character as the winner of a fist fight. I MEAN YES PROBABLY IT'S SHEPARD but it just feels sad punching Harvesters to death now... Knowing deep down inside, 600 years in the future and a lot of light years away, there's a kid who might have been allowed to charge and punch a Reaper. At least one of the little ones. -SIGH-

Shepard, the whole conversation around the game has been how Ryder is less seasoned, not a soldier, inexperienced etc. So I'll have to go with the seasoned, military trained, N7, Spectre. I agree with this statement Save
