If they are actually adding content to the book, I'd be very surprised. They commissioned reasonably well-known, award-winning SF/Fantasy authors to write these novels, and I would think asking Catherynne M. Valente to go back and write more would require some sort of additional financial investment. I would've just published the novel as is and got it over with, if the intent is indeed to wrap up ME:A and never speak of it again. which of these authors won a Hugo or Nebula award? If you produce something no argument. |

Jemisin is the Hugo award-winning author who co-authored ME: Initiation with Mac Walters. |

Not only is the fate of the Quarian Ark being thrown into a book, but they're going to straight up kill em all in a book in some cliche sabotage plotline.

I don't believe so. A few people seem to be excited over the novels, but the big crowd has long moved on. And why would a significant number of people not having played the game read the novels? No, these won't make the NYT bestsellers. They are niche products at best and don't give any indications as far as expectations for another MEA game goes. They dropped the ball some 5 months ago and try to pick it up by producing another medium. One that's probably more cost intensive when dropped than it is to publish it anyway. My guess is, the authours already collected their fees and printing costs are a pittance in comparison. Well a lot of people (as seen in this thread) are under the impresion that the novel could actually serve as some tie-in to a MEA2. I believe MEA series is done, but those who are still hanging onto hope have this belief that the novel is just a taste of things to come. I'm sure that was the original intention. Mac pretty much stated this outright in those pre-release Game Informer videos. Now, though? I believe you are correct. ME is dead for now. Initiation, the Jemisin novel, was good. I bought and read it this afternoon. It was a winning combination of the ME setting and a good author. It's sad that we won't be getting a lot more of this. |

Now it says the book is coming out Sept 4 instead of a few month earlier. Also it has a cover on Amazon.
