Looks like I solved my technical issue by setting Watch Dogs 2.exe to high priority in taskmanager. It may also have helped that I ran the crash-heavy segment in network vision. Regardless, back on the road, baby!

I thoroughly enjoyed the first game. If I could combine the first and second somehow, it would be perfect for me. WD2 was great fun. The NPCs on the street were more reactive to what was happening and it was awesome. I liked how you could engage with them (my personal favorite was insulting them). Starting gang wars never gets old. The hacking was an improvement and Marcus wasn't always staring at his phone. Side quests were more engaging. I liked how different the characters you meet in Dedsec were, how you could talk to them after missions, and how they'd talk to you. However, I thought that the story was jumbled and everywhere. It was almost too light hearted and I couldn't take anything seriously. There didn't seem to ever be a real threat. More than once I felt like I should have read some sort of outside material to understand who certain characters were.
Big fan of the gameplay, not so much the main story. Still great game.

More than once I felt like I should have read some sort of outside material to understand who certain characters were. Big fan of the gameplay, not so much the main story. Still great game. I agree with just almost everything you've said.
I'm not done with the storyline yet but I think I can see what you mean. I feel like the NViTE mission should have been followed with a series of missions where things get progressively worse for everybody until they have to lay low and temporarily sever their connection to each other or, at least, Marcus for a small period of time. Que the Swelter Skelter mission. It’d also give said mission more of an impact. It would also have lend more credence to Marcus claiming something along the lines of how he's endangering the others because of what happened. I feel like there was something missing between NViTE and Swelter Skelter like some missions were missing. They had the perfect set-up is basically what I'm feeling.
I love the characters and the interactions with them which is why I wanted more than what we got especially since I feel like there is more to the characters beneath the surface. Basically, I want more of the characters because of how much I liked them. I do still feel that the story is an improved over the last one especially since it does not feel like you could take out the hacker and technology aspect of it and still have the same story. The story fits better with its setting and I like what they try to explore and show. That and the topic of computer security really cannot be stressed enough.
So yeah, big fan of the gameplay and like the story but I can definitely see room for improvements in the story department. All in all, though, great game so far.

Necroing an old thread to ask a question.
I enjoyed WD1 and played it mostly in stealth. I bought WD2 a while back and I'm really struggling with it. I feel like I'm being pushed to do stealth with the jumper but I hate that thing, I'd much rather go in with Marcus and take people out. Problem is when I do that I suck so bad, it took a dozen tries just to get thru the damn tutorial.
I'm good at Dishonored and Deus Ex, and WD1, so why am I having so much trouble here? I get detected all the time and can't escape easily from it at all, the AI is bloody psychic. I just get frustrated and rage quit.
Should I just massacre everyone?

I do like a bit of Watch Dogs. Doing a re-playtthrough of 2 at the moment.
Next up is:
Watch Dogs Legion
Watch_Dogs Legion is set in a near-future, dystopian version of London. It's a post-Brexit world in which society, politics and technology have changed and altered London's fortunes. London is one of the most iconic cities in the world and has had a massive influence on all of Western Culture for centuries… London makes total sense for WD, as the city has one of the highest surveillce levels in the world making this the perfect playground.
Play as anyone, Every individual you meet in the open world, has a full set of animations, voice over, character traits and visuals that are generated & guided by gameplay systems

Open world London sounds very appealing. I hope they diversify the gameplay more outside of the hacking element.

Wait, does that mean it'll have a character creator? If I read the rumor correctly, I don't think so. But I think you can choose which NPC to recruit and play as.

Gameplay:
Trailer: It's definitely interesting and I'm buy it, but I have still some questions, like: If you die, won't there a reload option? We just recruit other people? It'll be sad to lose characters that we like so easily.

THIS GAME IS DEFINITELY NOT POLITICAL ABOUT BREXIT, YOU GAMERS SHUT YOUR MOUTHS.
Also, looks cool! Too bad I have to at least play the first game (free way back on Uplay) before thinking of Legion. But it at least looks closest to far as having a stronger franchise identity.

I'm wondering if there's just more highlighted and tailored NPCs that you'll just be more likely to keep (or are always involved in story missions and so aren't to die soon/easily no matter what you do, just taken out of the action), and then a city of more procedural generated (+polished over) NPCs that you can use as your nobodies.
For voices, they just try to use enough of a variety of actors with enough personality acting differences, and craft the main storyline to not require them to speak or speak much.

I honestly feel like Legion was the Watch Dogs game I was expecting ever since 2014. While the first game definitely had a promising concept with a decent story on surveillance and invasion of privacy, it still ended up as a generic open world game with a revenge story thrown in. Watch Dogs 2 definitely added more freedom into the game-play, but I found that its concepts of fighting against government surveillance and corporate control was kind of lost with its more upbeat, hip-hop style (at least for me).
Legion feels like a game that's really celebrating the idea of building a resistance against a totalitarian government, with an art style and tone that really fits the sort of Mr. Robot level dystopia I expected. Plus the concept of this game just seems super-interesting and unique in a AAA game.

Watchdogs Legion has an interesting concept with these NPCs but I doubt that it will actually translate into a good game. I mean, the gameplay looked awesome in the trailer but that was also true for WD1, when they presented that at E3. I just do not see it actually play like this in the end. I can imagine how they are implementing their NPC recruitment system and it will, I think, be rather lame as soon as the player understands the underlying mechanisms (which will likely be some modular system that puts a bunch of blocks together to create these characters). Furthermore, I think not having truly defined characters will seriously hurt the story of the game. And I am also not convinced the GTA style gameplay will work all that well with all those drones. The one thing that does look interesting is the setting, IMO. But then, most Ubi games have fantastic settings and then don't really manage to capitalize on their full potential, so I am setting myself up for a good game that is still somewhat of a disappointment because it could have been great. Sorry Ubi, that's the expectation you set me up with over the last couple of years.

I'm not going to get too hyped for this game until it's actually out and I can check out gameplay videos online, but if they actually pull this off it's a definite buy for me. Being able to recruit and play as random NPCs which all have stories kind of reminds me of the orcs followers from Shadow of War and how they were randomly generated.

For the most part, 2 is separate from 1, other than the establishment of the cTOS system. There are a few easter eggs from 1, and one of the characters from 1 makes an appearance, but otherwise not important. Legion doesn't look like it's going to have much in the connection department either.
