Good question about Ventus, I can't find any reference to it (or on the map)...
BUT I'm assuming that like the other comic series, it's set after DA:I. But I don't know for sure...

Ventus is a new name for the city listed on older maps of Thedas as "Qarinus". In-game: Been like that for decades, celebrating an old Tevinter victory on the Ventosus Straits. City name change, yo. Out of Game: Everyone got Qarinus and Qunari mixed up.  (Also definitely not a spoiler -- I think they cover that in the first pages of the Deception comic.) So... the city formarly know as Qarinus (on the coast, near the Arlathan Forest).

Qarinus / Ventus is interessing. Maybe we will see Maevaris Tilani again. Magister Ahriman (Master of Fenris Sister Variana) and Dorians Mother Aquinea Thalrassian would also be nice.

I'm surprised Qarinus changed its name, especially since it's been named that since before Tevinter became an Empire. I just finished reading Knight Errand and I wonder if the events there connects to it in someway? In the comic the Venatori was trying to steal a journal about red lyrium research that was being kept by Sebastian in Starkhaven.
To make matters worse, a piece of red lyrium was sent to Tevinter.
So it looks like some people in Tevinter are experimenting with Red Lyrium. Maybe that Magister is one of those people? |

I’m intrigued by the premise. An actress turned con artist? Haven’t seen that archetype in DA before.
I’m surprisingly pissed about that name change, though. I haven’t encountered one person who confused Qarinus and Qunari.
Altering canon to fix a mistake (“Templars don’t need lyrium snarf snarf”) is one thing, but this is arbitrary and goes against the two lore books, the comics and the games.

I'm on the fence. I haven't liked the comics that didn't feature Alistair at all. I found Tess and the other guy bland and it had no new content. I found that I disliked Vaea pretty moderately.
This actress turned con artist may yet be another brat I don't feel sympathethic to. I want a book, a big fat meaty book.
So the "desperate for DA" part of me is like YAY! The rest of me remembers the last two all flash low content comics.

According to WoT2, the Pavus estate is also located right outside Qarinus (now Ventus) so maybe Dorian and his political faction will play a role?
