Damn, wonder how this stuff gets leaked weeks before launch. People were already speculating based off them that the first DLC would be mercury/Osiris related. Would it wrong of me to think maybe this DLC while having PvE additions may end up being more pvp focused simply cause that's how trials of Osiris was when they added that content to D1? I wouldn't even mind either, I can already say pvp will be why I'll still be playing this game months down the road (even though they broke trials) unless CoD or Star Wars battlefront are good enough to play me away till H6.

Is it really a surprise that the first DLC will be about Osiris? That's his symbol right there.

It's just like kotaku seeing the taken king expansion for D1 about a month or two before it was officially confirmed.

I have to say, I kinda hate the raid. Those puzzles are pretty crap, and it seems to be riddled with bugs. We basically had to wipe repeatedly in the pleasure gardens because it would auto-alert the royal beasts whenever our 2 members grabbed the crystals up top and it wouldn't let up.
This week's nightfall is pretty frustrating. Nightfalls are expected to be a pain in the ass, but aside from really not liking Exodus Crash in any mode, the timer mechanic is brutal to the point of sucking the fun out of it.

There's a fast way to kill the boss if you're interested. When he goes invisible and starts climbing the outer walls, shoot him and he actually falls off the map and instant dies.
Haven't tried it myself but that's what the destiny folks are saying on the forums over there.

So is it better to do strikes or public events for better gear? I've done about 10 strikes and so far have only received 2 legendaries. Which is the way to go?

Public events can yield a lot of good stuff, especially if you go Heroic. I've gotten a number of exotic engram from them. Completing the regular challenges also helps, since you're guaranteed powerful engrams higher than your current power level.

Some very articulate thoughts on the game, and I think he makes a very good point that a lot of reviewers praising Destiny 2 for improving over the original can only realistically do so by comparing it to vanilla Destiny, since a lot of the improvements they talk about were implemented in TTK, including story.
Also, "praising Destiny 2 for having a story is like praising a prizefighter for lacing his gloves up correctly, we expect more."

Normal strikes cap gear off at 265, at that point you're better off doing the public events or farming nightfall if you've got the group to efficiently run it over and over while completing it. Pvp is also an option, but I wouldn't recommend it for "quick" gear leveling.

And by public events, I mean heroic public events cause good luck getting high gear out of normal ones.
They need to add heroic strikes, I doubt everyone will be willing to farm the nightfall with a timer in place.

Technically that level cap is based off of your own level, so as you complete challenges and equip better stuff, the power level of gear rises with you a few levels back. So like I'm 291 now, so I get normal gear, either rare or legendary, that's 282.

Also, "praising Destiny 2 for having a story is like praising a prizefighter for lacing his gloves up correctly, we expect more." According to Jason Schreier's book, development for D2 forked off from D1 right as House of Wolves finished, and you can really tell. As a result, only some of the QoL improvements from TTK made the cut, and none of the changes the D1 live team made were implemented as they were completely separate entities by that point. Hopefully they can start rolling those out soon, once they get them converted from the D1 engine. Only watched the first minute or two of the video so far, so if this is mentioned at any point in the ensuing hour, I apologize.

I could be wrong but I thought I saw somewhere saying 265 is max cap for normal strikes themselves and you had to do nightfall+ to get bigger gear. It's why some are having a harder time leveling.

He's right. 265 is the soft cap for gear, but once you hit ~270, then the gear will gradually start increasing in power one point at a time as you continue to increase your power level. My Hunter is 303 and my blues drop at 294 regardless of where they come from (public events, strikes, random mobs).

Nightfalls are unnecessary to get higher end stuff. I'm skipping this one because no one will do this lousy strike with me and I'm not a fan of it, but challenges and flashpoints guarantee powerful engrams from the various people at the tower. I just do the exploration, strike and crucible challenges most of the time. Since my clan is also very active, I get higher end stuff from Hawthorne on a regular basis too.

I'm not ready to do the nightfall or raid because my gear sucks. I tried strikes and I'm not getting anything good so I'm sticking to crucible(I got an exotic engram once) and public events. I wish they made the gear you get from strikes equal to what your power level is at the moment.

Yeah basically powerful engrams are what you would rely on primarily to level up and you can only earn a few each week, and of course getting an exotic engram or getting an exotic from a legendary.

Also, legendary mods. If you find yourself hitting a bit of a wall with regards to power level, like I was when stuck at 278, check if there are any legendary mods you can apply to a piece of gear that has a blue, or no mod; particularly a piece of gear or weapon that is lower level than the others. Adding a legendary mod adds 5 to the power level. I did this and managed to hit 280, and then you can start buying legendary mods to add to other gear/weapons.
After tweaking more mods and spending a fair bit of glimmer (finally a use for it) I was able to hit 282 in the same session.
Also, if you're not already, find a clan. The engrams you get from clan activities can be useful too.

Finished the storyline last night on my Titan. Got my stuff, fusioned, currently sitting at 235. Couple questions.
How does one join a faction? Is there a minimum light level?
Best course of action now? Farm with the Titan? Start on the next character?

I haven't seen the factions yet, so I don't know about that. Servers were offline for me last night so I got absorbed in another game.
I've stuck mainly with one character, though I am whizzing through the story and to get to level 20 with my second. You can't fuse armour across classes like before, so there's no point keeping old low level armour really, unless its an exotic you want to upgrade. You can use all the materials you get from breaking them down to get engrams from the gunsmith, which helps get your power up fairly quick. I've put some of my favourite higher level weapons in the vault to pass onto my other characters to help get them up to a decent power level once they hit level 20. Make sure you're handing in all the stuff and tokens you pick up from patrolling the planets etc, as people like Sloane and Mr Hammerlock will give you engrams too.
