It’s an average to good game with lots of flaws, doesn’t know what it wants for its audience (at times this feels like Zelda etc, poor initial marketing (you get 1 shot as the rapper said) and you divided the fan base
Now we are getting “ohh well it’s the usual simple opinions or I don’t care what they say
No offense but the bottom line is did it make enough to warrant enough for da5. It’s just like a sports team we spent x dollars, you had talented actors, time, a continuation of team. Did you bring home the championship. Right now it’s no! Doesn’t matter if weekes is nice or if it was full of good intentions . If I was running the show and d say there’s real talent here but time for a new direction

I've heard that so many times before from DA2, to Inquistion, ME:A. The fanbase is always convinced that Bioware is going to die but they're still here making games. If Veilguard is so average than why are people talking about it like it's the worst game of all time, or a good game, or a "woke" game?

Its been awhile since I've posted here, but I've started three playthroughs to try the different classes, and the furthest I've gotten is a male Rogue. This game's writing and story are just not engaging me.
The prologue was generally terrible, with clunky dialogue that speaks to the audience like they are children. Rook feels like the most shoehorned in "new PC" that the series has ever had. After all that build up with Solas, this is what we get? He is fighting some idiot named after a chess piece?
And what the hell did they do to the combat? Mass Effect style structure with only two party members and you can't switch between them. Not a fan.
What a disappointment after a decade of build up. Dragon Age has never paid anything they've ever set up in a previous game off very well, but they really needed to do so here and they blew it big time.

I've heard that so many times before from DA2, to Inquistion, ME:A. The fanbase is always convinced that Bioware is going to die but they're still here making games. If Veilguard is so average than why are people talking about it like it's the worst game of all time, or a good game, or a "woke" game? I think there are different answers for each one of these actually. The most simple answer is that different people have different opinions, and even people that dislike the game don't necessarily agree on what's wrong with it (like I assume people who like it won't necessarily agree on why they like it). The fanbase is not monolithic entity full of people who think the same things. Hell, from my experience, the more different the entries in a particular series are from each other the more divided the fans are. Someone on the DA memes Reddit made the comparison between the reactions to Veilguard to the reactions to Fire Emblem Engage. And while I think this comparison is not 100%, I think there is something about it. It's also true for things like the way the star wars fandom seems to be nowadays. And all of that is if we only consider actual fans and not anti woke tourists and grifters (and if we are discussing in good faith, we have to assume at least here there aren't any of those) |

I got an end to the arc that started in DAO that I found satisfying - for the first time in fifteen years I can honestly say that if they don't make another one I will be OK with that. The series has to end at some point, this would be a much better time than after any of the other three games.
I mean, don't get me wrong. If they make Dragon Age: Devouring Storm I will play it, I just don't need it the way I needed a sequel to DA2 or Inquisition.

yep I'm plenty excited for the future if there is one but this game is the perfect capstone to what is now my favorite storyline in gaming. |

- Genshin Impact
- Zoneless Zero
- Wuthering Waves
Like I know Veilguard was gonna get kicked out of the pool pretty quickly, but there was no fucking way any western game was beating out a win (especially when this nomination if purely decided by player).

I'm liking the game just fine, but I'm having a tough time figuring out who exactly it was for. It's a direct hit for some of us here, a clean miss for a lot of others and it looks like good-but-not-great for most. Which isn't great performance for an audience of Bio fans. And the plot really doesn't strike me as something aimed at people who aren't already fans. I think the metaphor you want there is "made the playoffs." Championships are hard to win, but a good team should make the playoffs.
