Premise: I loved Me trilogy. I even like the post-EC Me3 ending. I love Dragon age. I believe that DA inquisition is a good game, sometimes even great. So I'm not a hater.
I've tried to play ME andromeda but... I can't make it. It's awful.
How can someone spend +50 hours on this game??
I mean...
1) the gameplay is bad. Shooting is really bad. I know that some people like it but in the end it's a simplified, less fluid and less natural version of ME2-3 gameplay. The scan thing is one of the worst thing I've ever seen. The worlds are empty and dead, there is nothing interesting but looting and fetch quest everywhere, go there, shot (bad), scan (super boring) collect some garbage, come back, collect your reward... zzz 2) The writing is pathetic. Maybe this is the worst thing. The tone of the conversations is the tone is either epic and over-dramatic, or stupid and playful. No middle ground. And the fact that everyone tries to be brilliant, to make the sarcastic joke, man, is ALIENATING (apart from the fact that 90% of the time there is nothing brilliant, just childish stupidity).
3) the LORE is... wrong. It the milky way but not really the milky way. A a weakened version of the milky way. It like a vegan hamburger. And analcoholic beer. I rather pick a salad or plain water.
4) Facial animation. Everybody seems a creepy soulless puppets. Unacceptable
5) Maybe the story is good, I don't now. Not enough.
A game like this can kill a studio. Bioware should be grateful to be still alive and able to do Triple A games. But they need to improve EVERYTHING.
Their competitors are doing great games in the last 5-6 years, and they are not.
I want to play Andromeda, I really want to enjoy it... is there hope? Should I give it another chance?

You can't play it? Is there something wrong with your hands?

I thought the shooting mechanics were bad and it is my least favorite ME game but I didn't hate it. The facial animations were one of my biggest problems. I think it's worth giving another try

Sorry I am stuck on " analcoholic" beer. Because that sounds horrific.
I thought the shooting mechanics were bad and it is my least favorite ME game but I didn't hate it. The facial animations were one of my biggest problems. I think it's worth giving another try
I believe the intended reading was an-alcoholic (nonalcoholic) rather than anal-coholic, which is probably a portmanteau indicating a person addicted to butt-chugging.
OP, you're not alone and your feelings are valid. I personally liked Andromeda well enough, especially the Ryder twins. Andromeda is full of stuff and some of it is better than other stuff. To find your fun you need to lose any completionist tendencies and just focus on the things you enjoy. My first completionist playthrough was like 120 hours and it was somewhat exhausting. My second "fun only" playthrough was much shorter, but so much more enjoyable.
For me, I had the best time when I:
1) Ignored everything labelled "task" and stuck mostly to the main quest and loyalty missions, with whatever side missions sounded interesting (for example, I liked the Firefighters but despised Contagion).
2) Pretty much ignored mining and collected/bought only what I felt like I needed to craft a few things.
3) Found a power set and gun I liked and stuck with them (My Sara liked singularity, incinerate and lance with a Carnifex and my Scott liked cloak, incinerate and energy drain with the black widow).
4) Intentionally avoided getting the cryo pod perk that shows you where hidden caches are because it just clutters up your maps in an exhausting way and you never get anything good out of those caches anyway.
5) Decided to be droll at least some of the time. My Sara was casual with the team and logical with everyone else, which was fun, but Scott was even better when he chose right side (logical/professional) with the team and casual with everyone else (don't do this second thing unless you like snarky Hawke-style trolling).
6) I liked combat, but on the second playthrough I just drove past all the random enemies jumping out of shuttles because fighting them seemed pointless and borderline criminal. There is enough combat in the main questline, no need for padding.
7) Didn't scan anything unless prompted by that little "doo-wip" noise or SAM. Scanning is tedious if you do it all the time, but protip: you don't have to do it all the time.
I know it sounds like I skipped everything the second time around, but there's plenty of enjoyment in talking to everyone, doing relevant quests and exploring. I liked the remnant vaults and puzzles, talking to NPCs, and tabogganing down snowy slopes on Voeld. Just driving around and switching up the squaddies in the back seat to hear all the conversations was fun. Cora is great in the Nomad with everyone, Liam is a disaster. I felt like I was listening to a telenovella when I had him in the back seat with Vetra.
Andromeda is supposed to be light after the heaviness of ME3, so don't go in expecting Shepard and her band of cynical professional killers. Ryder is young, a bit dumb and somewhat uneasy in his/her role. The team is also chaotic; it's like hitching a husky, three squirrels and a giraffe to your Iditarod sled, but somehow you can make it work.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I literally have no idea what the OP is even talking about with the "less fluid"and lore parts I'm not sure about the less fluid part my guess is the move from linear to open world. I wouldn't describe it as fluid but I guess I can see that a linear game as a tighter narrative where you continually move along, open worlds are sidetracked a bit more.
It did break the lore in many ways. I wouldn't phrase it the way they did with watered down, like the milky way etc stuff. But, the lore is wrong so the opening statement of point 3 is correct.

Yeah, there are a couple of lore problems -- QECs, biotics, the FTL telescope -- but he wasn't talking about them.. Unless he was; that part of the post is not very organised.

Sorry but There was almost nothing 'natural' in 1, 2 and 3, and even Andromeda jetpacks are magic dust But, jeebuz, less fluid? In 2 and 3, the chars suddenly started to speedtrain into one direction with very little steering ability when running, and the complete combat + movement as was better mostly than in 1st one, wasnt even close to fluidity and reaction speed available in Andromeda. I can understand the loss of pause + skills, I wanted companion skills back, but pause.. naah I dont even use it anymore in 1 which I'm playing through atm. Also sorry if I feeded a "veteran" troll... but I just lolled out loud on that part.

Also sorry if I feeded a "veteran" troll... but I just lolled out loud on that part. Yeah I don't really use pause in a battle unless I need to change weapons in MEA. I do use paus in the trilogy a lot but that's mainly because it's moer immportant to get your powers on target. Personally I find it moer fluid than the trilogy but it actually helps that it's simplified given it is a more action focused game whereas I find the trilogy is a more tactical experience. So I think it's a matter of personal taste I'm not sure what I prefer presonaly as I kind of enjoy both approaches that Bioware have taken. I think that they did the right thing by simplifying the powers so you only have 3 active ones for the more action style gamplay as I think it would have been more difficult to use and manage the 7 or 8 powers that you get given in the trilogy in this manner. At least for me it would have been moer difficult given I only have 1 hand on the controls due to my disability. Currently playing my Explorer Sara and enjoying her so far.

Maybe even later on, they gain 2 more powers, that could still be handleable in realtime, but I confess its sometimes almost impossible to play ME1 in realtime.. Yeah SP aint so tactical as in OT, but in MP on high levels its very important to have a good tactics.

Also I find myself dying at least 5 or 6 times everytime I'm playing Garrus's recruitment mission during the Blood Pack section. Tha tsection is really tricky don't get m ewrong I really enjoy the game and I have beaten it but it does have it's tricky parts.

I started a femryder run a few months ago mostly for Suvi, but it stalled not too long after the flagship.
You have so many potential talents, and so few that are worth using. I might just say screw it and try to find the worst build possible to get back into it.

For me, I had the best time when I:
1) Ignored everything labelled "task" and stuck mostly to the main quest and loyalty missions, with whatever side missions sounded interesting (for example, I liked the Firefighters but despised Contagion).
You've inspired me little a bit here.
I'm reinstalling. Haven't played since the Xbox 1 4k HDR patch.
I'll report back.
Edit - Nope, can't play. None of my save games will load and I can't NG+ either because "Content missing: Deep space pack", and it's no longer available on Xbox Live. Fuck this game.

Garus recruitment missions difficulty is imo more about the RP with his health bar. If you take your time it’s easy peasey. If you rush as you know he can only hold out so long the right door can be tough depending on class and how quickly you tackled it. Even though adept is my best class, at that level that room is hardest for me as an adept. But I always rush it and adepts aren’t built for that on insanity. Didn’t help that I always leave him a teammate for backup.

Then your solution is simple... Shut up and simply don't play it. Play something else instead. You'll be happier playing a game you enjoy rather than complaining about one you didn't and I'll be happy playing it because I enjoy it. Win... win. Translation- "Bad man disagwees wid me! Shut up bad man!'. Last time I checked this was BSN, a forum to discuss Bioware games, both the positive and negative aspects. It's not your safe space. I also agree with the OP. I sunk 40hrs into this fucking time vampire before I realised that this was it. There would be no revelations to help it all make sense, the characters really were that poorly written and weren't going to get any better and the Archon really was just a petulant space-baby who made Corypheus seem Thanos-like in comparison. Enjoying this game a perfectly reasonable position. I'll never understand why but each to their own. But considering that this is the 4th in the ME series it's also perfectly reasonable to see this game as a half arsed project from devs who skimmed the reviews of the OT but never bothered playing them. With pretty graphics.

So... wouldn't you also be happier playing something else rather than sitting online just venting about a game you don't like?. To each their own, but all the venting people have done against Bioware lately hasn't seemed to improve the situation at all, hasn't it. I recently watched a video openly declaring that the whole videogame industry is head for the shitter... so maybe someday none of us will have anything left to complain about... and also nothing left to enjoy.

I find it hard to pla yany of them in realtime tbh without pausing especially ME2 given I find the combat in tha ton ecan be rather punishing when yo umake a mistake and you can easily get overwhelmed by husks or mechs if you'er not paying attention and those YMir mechs do hit hard if the ycan get a targe tlock on you and that's befoer mmentioning the Scion's and Praetorians that the Collectors have. Also I find myself dying at least 5 or 6 times everytime I'm playing Garrus's recruitment mission during the Blood Pack section. Tha tsection is really tricky don't get m ewrong I really enjoy the game and I have beaten it but it does have it's tricky parts. For me it's the garage bit that's the most difficult but you're right the fqact his health is going down makes yopu want to rush and try an ddo it quick but rushing krogan is never a good thing to do especially as some of the vorcha have flamethrowers and stuff and krogan can easily and quickly bring you down if you leave yourself exposed. Ordinarily if I'm playing a tech based Shep I'd use overload and be done with them but it's still easier said than done. But yea hSoldier and Adept aer my 2 strongest classes although I've beaten the game with all 6

But yea hSoldier and Adept aer my 2 strongest classes although I've beaten the game with all 6 That might be the room on what I called the right. It’s the big room where you close the shutters. As there are 3 distinct paths in that garage it’s rough to rush especially at low levels. Whatever route you take someone will be flanking you if you go fast. Doesn’t help that the open shutter space is like a wall to certain moves like charge so you can’t target past it with charge. In that room I found engineer pretty bad ass. As you are mainly getting to the back and holding it until the shutter drops the drone is crazy effective. Still it’s one of the toughest fights in me2 partly thanks to things like being level 6 or something.
