With the next-gen consoles right around the corner, the opportunity to make the best out of Mass Effect has just increased beyond imaginable proportions. With consoles being in the graphical category of at least RTX 2080 cards, and the speeds of the SSDs, the possibilities are limitless. Loading is no longer required, levels can be huge, animations can be top notch...
Imagine the first Mass Effect, not only with top visuals, ray tracing and great sound, but rather than having elevators, having mini mass relays that basically 'teleport' you from place to place. Imagine being able to visit many planets, all completely different. No base looks the same, enemies can be varied... Imagine being able to meet a Thresher Maw nest, where suddenly you have dozens of them chasing you and you have to get away in your quick racing vehicle.
For all games of the Mass Effect trilogy, imagine an extremely large Citadel, Omega, Tuchanka, Illium and others, without having to walk through corridors to mask loading, without popping textures, with extended horizons you could actually go to. Imagine being able to dive in the Citadel lake, fly in its 'sky', actually see details of the other arms instead of a static back drop...
Maybe all this will remain in our imagination. However, I hope that EA and BioWare do not let this opportunity slide to give Mass Effect back its soul. To prove that they can do the series justice. To bring back the greatness that was this franchise. To let us experience the most powerful moments in gaming, be it joy, sadness, the impact of our choices, these affected us all, and we miss being able to have these experiences... Hopefully, one day, we can have them again, and hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later.
The hardware is available... And so are the fans. And we are waiting...

They're not going to remake or alter the trilogy, beyond a graphical/texture upgrade.

This is great for people who never played any of this before, but I’m currently in my umpteenth playthrough of the original trilogy, and if I’m gonna buy a new BioWare game, I’d love to get a totally new story along with it.

The trilogy, or at least ME3, already got a remake, or what Bioware calls extended cut, that was released. What if they do the same for all 3 games? Some liked the ending after the cut was released. Having a remake is not at the top of my list, but if Bioware were to go that route, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Until that happens, I'm happy to get a remaster, if/when it's confirmed. For now, I look forward to the next DA game.

For now, I look forward to the next DA game. The big difference between the Extended Cut of Mass Effect 3 and a remake of the prior games now is that BioWare themselves made it and it was done during the DLC phase of Mass Effect 3. Now if they do a remake it would be BioWare stopping work on any new projects for Mass Effect or Dragon Age to make it and you can already see how people are reacting to how long its been since a new Dragon Age game. The other question really is how many people would it really draw and you won't know that for sure until its tried, but I wouldn't want to see a remake of Mass Effect 1 and then nothing done with Mass Effect 2 or 3 because the remake just didn't sell enough copies to justify going back with the other two.

No thanks. I’d prefer a new mass effect game(either ina dromeda or Milky Way) to a remake. Especially as what you are suggesting sounds an unreasonable time sink.

The big difference between the Extended Cut of Mass Effect 3 and a remake of the prior games now is that BioWare themselves made it and it was done during the DLC phase of Mass Effect 3. Was the cut planned before ME3 was released? Was Bioware going to release another dlc instead of the cut? If it wasn't for the cut, Leviathan would have been released at that time making all the other dlc's release earlier. So the dlc cycle could have ended at the end of 2012 or the beginning of 2013 instead of March 2013 with Citadel. Why would they stop any new projects? If they're going to have a remake, it would be made just as if there's going to be another ME game in Andromeda or after the events of ME3. I don't see it interfering with the next DA game since any new ME game, whatever it is, wouldn't be released until after the next DA game has been released. That can be said about any ME game, even if there's another game in Andromeda, right? Only time will answer that question, if a remake were to happen.

If my memory is correct I remember long ago data miners found files that pointed to the true ending of ME3 I believe the discussion centered around having to pay (DLC wise) for the real ending which caused quite a stir. (pre extended cut)

That can be said about any ME game, even if there's another game in Andromeda, right? Only time will answer that question, if a remake were to happen. EA released a public statement saying they re-prioritized the post release content for Mass Effect 3. To me that means they had no plans to release such content so DLC plans were altered to accommodate Extended Cut. As far as stopping making a new game it has been reported that they are working on a new Mass Effect game going back to mid to late 2019 so if they are going to work on a remake it would mean that it would be worked on after the release of the fifth game or that they stop working on the next game. I think there is a difference between making a new game and making a remaster and yes after Andromeda BioWare might not have the automatic audience for the setting, but I think positive word of mouth would help a new game over telling the story of the same game again. I just don't see any improvement that will drive people to wanting to buy a remake of an existing BioWare game. For me the big improvements for Resident Evil 2 wasn't the graphics, but the new control scheme to remove tank controls and a camera that isn't actively trying to kill you. I just have a hard time seeing enough of an audience being there to justify the costs versus going to make something new since BioWare games have never been huge successes.

The same here.
Besides even if they did do a remake of MET everyone would want all 3 games released at the same time and heaven forbid should BioWare remake and release a trilogy as 3 separate games instead one giant mess.
Then the backlash would be "MET: Remake is just 1/3 of a game and isn't a complete game" with people like me having to explain to these brain dead cretins what a trilogy is and that it would be insane to do a remake and release of 3 major games at the same damn time, and here we go again. It's pretty be pretty much just like the same shit with FFVII: Remake just with a different title.

The ONLY BioWare game I want to see get a Resident Evil 2 style remake is Dragon Age 2, I think the story and characters in it has far more room to explore and go in new and different directions and also it got what 18 months of development time before it was released. So basically keeping the sound files of the dialogue and bringing them back to record all new dialogue, everything else get remade.

They're not going to remake or alter the trilogy, beyond a graphical/texture upgrade. If they release ME1 with the same gameplay, that would be a HUGE mistake. They should give them all ME3 gameplay.

Not even close. It's more like Dragon Age Inquisition in space. DAI is a better game than ME1.
It's not exactly fair to compare a 2007 game to a 2014 one. That being said, I had zero issues finishing ME1. DA:I, I still have not finished it. Now don't get me wrong. DA:I does a lot of things well. The characters are better than ME1, the graphics, less repetitive environments... The issue is, there's too much filler, just like Andromeda. If you're a completionist like me, it kills the pacing, and DA:I kills it a lot quicker than ME1. BioWare has shifted from providing meaningful content to simply providing lots of content. It became really prevalent in DA:I, and Andromeda exacerbated it to unbearable proportions. Andromeda is the result of the praise ME2 and DA:I got, with an attempt to include and fix the issues of ME1. That, obviously does not mix well, especially if you're adding content just to keep the player busy and artificially lengthen the hours.
