Sad that it`s 1st person only. I really enjoyed PoE 1 and PoE2 and i would love to play another game set in the world of Eora but unfortunately i can´t play 1st person games due to motion sickness .

Take with a bag of salt, from Resetera: As I previously mentioned before the announcement, Obsidian is working on Pillars (I assumed this regarding the info) game as back then I did get confirmation that game contains “spore-like” creatures with few other vague descriptions of The Living Lands.
So, I did get new informations about Avowed:
- fully open world, much much larger than Skyrim (very differently “larger”, more proper word would be “denser” and “more contrasted” at the same time) - primarily set in the The Living Lands region of Eora (not sure if it’ll go like that as explicit later on, but that was starting point) - big focus on world-reactivity, lighting and next-gen AI systems and physics (special focus on physics with magic systems - have no clue what would that mean) - realtime whether system (don’t have full details but fog is very important as realtime element, rivers will have specific micro physics systems regarding this) - very advanced character creation tool (didn’t get more info) - mod support (for now PC is/will be very dominant as creation tool, but I’ll be playable fully on Xbox) - very large number of factions but very different approach than with Skyrim - you’ll be able to have companions (different than Outer Worlds) - storyset: fight against incoming threat of tyranny (independent from previous stories) - game has bosses planned and some of them are very very large - Gods will have special say in the game - great focus on iconic landmarks, statues and buildings - two large cities planned with many smaller ones with strong focus on contrasting wild-areas, rivers, mountains and desolated areas (yes, you’ll be able to swim) - fully respecting POE creatures lore with new additions - dynamic presentation of dialogue - for now idea is to keep “you can kill everyone in the game” option - around 100 people are on the project for 2y (smaller number for 7m of preproduction), in total 2y 7m - full production is already a thing - team will still grow - target date: late 2022/early 2023
Keep in mind that some parts of this can change during the development process. The guy reporting those doesn't know that the "spore-like" creatures are just called Spores and Sporelings and his intro suggest he was just given a description of the area where the game is at and he decided where it was based on that. Problem with this, the place he names doesn't work with the teaser.

Also, it seems strange to me to have a very advanced character creation tool for a first-person game. I guess it is easy to make it very advanced if you will either rarely or never see your character during the game. Or maybe they just meant the background, etc., for your character and not the character's appearance?

I guess it is easy to make it very advanced if you will either rarely or never see your character during the game. Or maybe they just meant the background, etc., for your character and not the character's appearance? Character creation is not just about physical appearance. The character creation tool in POE1/2 was called advanced and it covered: - species/sub-species, - gender, - attributes, - culture, - background, - classes/sub-classes/multiclass, - starting powers - skills - starting weapons - limited physical appearance/voice set/portrait/personality animation The list is basically written as a comparative to Skyrim anyway, there is a few places where the adjectives are hyperbolic too. I hope nobody expect 1000 factions because it says "very large number of factions". I really have the impression that whomever wrote it never played Pillars of Eternity 1/2. Like "Gods has says in the game", you don't say *surprised Pikachu * Anyone who finished POE1/2 knows that they can't shut up...which is why I wanted the next POE game to have them as companions, if they are to bugger me all the time, they might as well make themselves useful. But I don't think this will be the game for that.

Some more about the "leak". Someone on the Official forum pointed out that the reporter has remote ties to InXile (works/knows someone who works for a company that deal with InXile). So far removed from Obsidian and when ResetEra moderator tried to confirm his source, he said it seemed reliable but couldn't check it out.
Also, looking at a few other things, some do not add up. The 2y 7m doesn't work with official declarations from the head of Xbox Game Studios who said Obsidian said they wanted to make this after they joined the group. That happened in the second half of 2018, so less than 2 years ago. Also, Obsidian couldn't have had 100 persons on this when they had about 150 devs total and everyone was on either The Other Worlds and Deadfire until mid-2018. Then it was everyone on The Other Worlds until mid-2019 basically. At best, they had a small group on this late 2018 and 2019.

Problem with this, the place he names doesn't work with the teaser. Thank you for the information. I love the setting and writing in PoE and can stand FPP, so Avowed seems great. I hope that pure melee builds will be comfortable to play (the melee combat in The Outer Worlds was not much better than in TES, unfortunately). Or that combat will be optional.
"Dynamic presentation of dialogue" sounds interesting. Does it mean that the game won't immobilize my avatar during dialogues and cut-scenes too often? I liked the dialogue system in The Outer Worlds, where I could skip at least some of them with high enough stealth and just go for the kill (or sneak past the NPC).

"Gets a new dimension".... I see what they did there. I really loved the PoE setting. I mean, live there? Hell no. That place was bleak. But it was amazingly detailed and rich in its history and lore. I enjoyed PoE, but just couldn't bring myself to finish a 2nd PT.

I was kinda sad for a long while about no games in the same vein as the ol' BG's and Icewind Dales, then PoE 1 and 2 came along and Ahhhh perfection. (imo) You're right about the history and lore, I nerded out and bought the PoE lore/art books. Anyway Im pretty hyped for Avowed. Seems like a lot of people were freaking out over Jez' use of "pre-production" though.

I would have preferred a genuine PoE3, with all the established characters and connections to finish the Watcher's story

Still, at least the lore continues to be built on and if this game does well we might hear the end of the Watcher's story and/or what happens to the world after the ending of PoE2. Better than the nothing we would get otherwise!

Better than the nothing we would get otherwise! I think I read somewhere that there's some indication this game will be set pre-POE. Would also fit with the lately reported "medieval" flair of the game. My only hope is that Avowed will renew interest in POE so a third game can be made.

On the one hand, I'm sad that I'll miss out on going to the Living Lands. On the other hand, only being able to play as a human or elf is so boring, maybe I won't be missing much.
(I mean, I get it, and the fact that you're playing an Aedyran envoy means it makes sense in story terms ... but still. I never want to play a human if I can pick something else, and wood elves are the least interesting of the other species in the setting.)

I didn't realize that beside the trailer there was some preview about the game too. Looks like they scaled down their design from when it was first announced, which is not surprising (it was in dev hell for a while) and a good thing. Now it's more like The Outer Worlds which fit Obsidian dev team size and skills much better. www.pcgamer.com/avowed-rpg-obsidian-preview-magic-interview/

Am I the only one who likes the look of the game less and less the more we see?
I find the art style super bland for some reason. And it looks like a AA Skyrim knockoff but it's a AAA title for once, right?
Nothing about that trailer excited me. :/
Not sure how to feel about this. I wasn't hyped for the game or anything but would like to play a cool big fantasy RPG again. Maybe the writing can sway me...

I find the art style super bland for some reason. And it looks like a AA Skyrim knockoff but it's a AAA title for once, right? It's match Pillars of Eternity Deadfire aesthetic, a bit too much in fact. For example, the dock scene at the start looks like a copy-paste of Neketaka docks in Deadfire, but the game is set in the Living Land which isn't near the Deadfire archipelagos (it's like on the opposite side of the world map actually). And Obsidian doesn't have the staff to make a AAA, this is going to be a AA similar to the The Outer Worlds.

Could have sworn Avowed was marketed as having a AAA budget thanks to Microsoft. Guess my mind made that up then. From what we've seen it makes more sense that it's more like the Outer Worlds which I'm actually looking forward to much more despite the slightly disappointing experience.
