Anyway, I've talked about this plenty in the relevant part of the forum but my met for DAV release date is some time during September or the first two weeks of October so that they don't run into CoD (which is only indirect competition but it will suck up the attention of the games media for a bit so they don't want to be right on top of it) or Assassin's Creed.

I have no idea how it will turn out or how clunky the third-person option will be, but at least I'll get to see the Living Lands without getting horribly motion sick so that's something.

I went back and watched some trailers and gameplay. It isn't the best-looking game ever but it seems like something I could enjoy. Probably won't play it right away though since Veilguard is also releasing this fall. Also I liked that gameplay with interview format where they could explain what we are seeing and how things work. Would have preferred something like that for Veilguard instead of the story-spoiler-heavy reveal we had with no voiceover to explain how any of the gameplay functioned.

New "trailer" with a pre order bonus thing, play 5 days early.
Actually quite curious about this game. Not sure how I feel about the 1st person combat yet. Dialogue and backgrounds seem quite solid thus far. Hoping against hope that It comes out on PS5, like Indiana Jones.

Glad they added 3rd person. I also saw on Reddit that there is no limit to the number of spells you can have in combat. Very happy to not be stuck with only 3 spells like Veilguard!
Is it really only 26 hours? Seems very short for a $70 rpg.

Puts It just shy of a week after KCD2. Will be Interesting to see If both games attract the same crowds. Anyways great with 2 new rpgs on the horizon as Veilguard cant be replayed forever.

Kai being Garrus is a bit 4th wall breaking for me. He sound exactly the same.  Game has underwater exploration which looks great. Lots of explorationg stuff, that I like. I love the grimoire spellcasting, but looks like abilities/spells are limited looking at those archetype panels. And we always play a godlike (human or elf base). I hope we can pick the god. I just need to know if it's going to run on my Linux setup before buying. |

Some lore/story info about Avowed: - set 3 years after Deadfire (broken wheel in play if that has any impact on anything) - one minor NPC from Deadfire confirmed to show up in the game the, possibility dead, Inquisitor Lödwyn...with bonus glowly eyes...so could be a deathguard. - we play a human or elf godlike from the Aedyr Empire, the Envoy of the Emperor to investigate a "blight" - godlike basically do not exist anymore because the gods absorbed their divine essence back after the breaking of the Wheel in Deadfire. , which makes the Envoy a special - game set in the Living Lands, which is a frontier style island with wild crazy things even by Eora's standard - 4 companions (no romances): Kai, Giatta, Yatzli and Marius - most of the attribute/skills/passives are based on POE1/Deadfire...they tweaked some stuff because this is an action game, but they kept the main idea of it. - you can mix&match fighter, ranger and wizard skills, no set class. (stealth is supported, as is stealth kills) - weapons: pretty much everything from Deadfire from what I saw, including dual wielding one-handed weapons and unarmed. There is even grenades. - there is crafting to upgrade gear (also cooking) - magic is cast using a grimoire in one hand which contains certain spells, you also need to unlock the spells in the wizard skill page it seems - ice spells can freeze water so you can walk over it, fire can be used to destroy obstables - there is swimming/diving - 3rd person possible (but more designed for 1st person) I'm starting to think I should replay POE1 and Deadfire to refresh my memory on stuff. This release mid-February. Sounds interesting I have not followed this games development at all. But I saw you mention no romances for some reason Obsidian does not like adding romances to their games. This sentiment was echoed by Chris Avellone when he worked with them, and Josh Sawyer who had some sort of breakdown when BG3 was praised for it's romance arcs. It's not a deal breaker for me I just always wondered why Obsidian had such a strong stance against romance in their games.

- magic is cast using a grimoire in one hand which contains certain spells, you also need to unlock the spells in the wizard skill page it seems Quoting myself, I'm wrong about having to unlock the spell in the Wizard's skill tree. Unlocking the spells in Wizard skill tree allow you to use the spell without having to equip a grimoire.

Interesting article and thanks for the link. But like I saying a no romance game is not a deal breaker for me. Four games of Obsidian are among my favorites of all time and they are: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, and Tyranny and they all had no romance in them.
