I was on-board with Detlaff until he unleashed hell on the city because he didn't get his way. That crossed the line and he had to die. The only bad thing about this is Regis' exile. I eventually did all the endings though. Like you, I find the 'good' ending where the sisters literally kiss and make up just too sickly sweet. My preferred ending would be Syona in jail instead of Geralt, but that isn't an option.
Spoilered because I don't remember if talyn82 finished the main story yet.

melbella Thank you for putting the spoiler in a spoiler tag, because I have not finished the main quest for Blood and Wine, been doing side quests, contracts, and treasure hunts.

Oh dear, I thought you had finished I am so sorry if I spoiled anything there :/
There was a deal. The deal conditions were not met, and so there were dreadful repercussions. This was all explained, it was not a surprise, and so I fault Detlaff less than the Duquessa - she brought that evil upon her people through arrogance and ignorance, not unlike our modern "leaders".
Anna Henrietta is a gigantic steaming pile of shit.

I played last night but I forgot almost everything I did. What I do remember though is finding all of the schematics for the Griffin armor, settling a dispute between a dead wife and her dead husband. Apparently they were arguing over who gets to rest in the mausoleum. I chose the wife and moved the husbands remains to be interred in the tomb for the greatest Gwent players of all time. I am in the process of finishing a quest settling another dispute between a man and woman over a wealthy vineyard. I've killed the plant monsters at both of their properties, but got sidetracked looking for some coins in a manure pile. Yes, Geralt is that desperate for coin.

Geralt settled the dispute for the ownership of a lucrative vineyard. Both buyers now own the vineyard. Both the man and woman paid me well. They aare now Geralt's favorite clients. Fought some new monsters I've never seen before like huge black spiders (not arachnids or endregas, but literally huge black spiders). Fought another monster that was tall and thin and when it stuck it's hands into the ground branches would come out of the ground.

They the ones that had basically cocooned over an entire village? They move fast so I found best to Yrden them before getting in a couple whacks.
I don't know if anyone ever mentioned this in the Greedfall threads, but there are NO spider enemies in the game. Arachno-phobes (I'm not one) rejoice! Which is kinda ironic, given the company name is....well, Spiders.

You know what I like about Toussaint besides the fact it never rains? Is that Witchers are pretty much respected. There's only been one or two guards or peasants that spit on the ground when Geralt walks by them.

Only got to play a little bit today. Helped an artisan with his statue of Lebioda. Finally decided to meet up with Regis. Geralt makes it to the cemetery and knocks on the door. Great no one home and the doors locked. Why can't some things just be simple? Anyway Geralt heads underground fighting kikimores and eventually makes his way to Regis' crypt. They have an in depth discussion about vampirism and being undead. He also mentions how Detlaff was responsible for him being "alive." They talk some more about recent events involving Ciri and the Wild Hunt. Regis then asked Geralt if he was undead what profession would he choose. Geralt answered Witcher it is the only profession he's ever known. He also doesn't mind being called a freak anymore. Regis tells Geralt what he needs to summon Detlaff.

So I continued the main questline after meeting with Regis at his crypt. Geralt went to collect some saliva from a spotted wight. This quest I liked a lot. I liked how there was a choice between killing it or lifting the curse. I chose to lift the curse. Geralt had successfully figured out how to lift the curse while investigating the spotted wights lair. He first gently approached showing it he meant no harm, and sat at the team. In order to lift the curse he had to willingly sit and eat with the monster using no spoons. Once the curse was broken he brought the woman to eat at his estate. While at the estate Geralt payed 7000 crowns to restore some of the estate like the manor.
Went to Regis, he said in order to summon Detlaff they needed the blood of a higher vampire. Since there were none around Regis told Geralt they would use his blood. Regis brought Geralt to an old castle that had a torture chamber specifically built by ancient vampires to punish one of their own. The plan was Regis would look himself in a cage that was vampire proof, then Geralt would slay monsters spilling their blood. The smell of the blood would make Regis frenzy with bloodlust. Geralt followed the plan and got the blood. He meditated for a couple of hours until Regis went back to normal.
Back at Regis' crypt Geralt prepares the concoction and drinks. Let me say Geralt ingests some of the nastiest crap I seen anyone intake. From his nasty potions to whatever that spotted wight was cooking. Nasty nasty crap. Anyway Geralt has a vision of Detlaff befriending a nobleman while getting his boots polished. Later on Detlaff kills this same nobleman. The vison ends with the vampire back getting his boots polished. Geralt mentions this to Regis and together they go and question the boy who polishes shoes. The boy directed them to a house with a red door by the port. Inside the house they find some papers with names of Detlaff's victims, and a letter from the person blackmailing him. Geralt heads off to speak to the Duchess, while Regis stayed behind to wait for Detlaff.
At the palace Geralt explains the situation to the Duchess. He hands over the blackmail letter to her which had a drop of wine fall onto it. She summoned her wine expert and surprisingly and amazingly he figured out which it was by scent. The Duchess said only one noble family in all of Toussaint drinks that particular wine. They head to the noble family's estate and speak to the man who is in charge of the wine. He says it's impossible the wine tampered with or stolen. The Duchess takes over the investigation, and after a thorough investigation of the wine cellar. They get the man to confess. He tells them that a nobleman from Cintra offered him a fortune for one barrel of wine. So he gave the nobleman the barrel and took the coin. With the threat of death he tells Geralt and the Duchess that he was supposed to deliver another barrel that night. So together along with her guard captain and his men they set up an ambush, and take one of the bandits prisoner. This is where I stopped playing.

Great progress! Good nourishing food, and to sit down at a table together. Glad you saved her, one of my favorites also.
This is a suggestion. When you are given a mission to talk to a "Little Flint Girl", make a save before speaking to her. Then play as you wish. This is for getting both special DLC achievements, but also because it is not too far to replay and see different things. You are close to the end of a long journey. Say hey to the Majordomo for me!

Glad you saved her, one of my favorites also. Yeah, my Geralt is not a mindless killer. If there is a way to save a person he would do so. When you are given a mission to talk to a "Little Flint Girl", make a save before speaking to her. Will do. Do I have to do the quest before finishing the main B&W quest or at any time?

There's a Witcher Anniversary sale going on @ GOG.com. You can get Witcher 3 GOTY for a mere 9.99 US dollars. The other games in the series are also on sale and for low low prices. www.gog.com/promo/2022_witcher_anniversary

Just an FYI for anyone unaware - if you own any of the games on Steam, you can redeem a free copy on GOG as well. Removes a layer of DRM, otherwise pretty meaningless, but hey that's what I have to add

I bought TW3 originally on disc for the PS4, with the news that it was getting a free next gen upgrade, I bought the digital complete edition at a heavy discount to simplify things going forward. It recently came to my attention that the complete edition and the regular one have separate achievement lists. I really enjoyed trophy whoring hunting the first time around, seems like a good excuse to play TW3 again to me. Haha.
I've dabbled with the Polish audio before but never really committed to it, this time I've stuck with it, I've been enjoying it. I don't pick up on sarcasm though, I thought, wow Yennefer is way less condescending in Polish. LOL. Best part so far was kid Ciri during the prologue, I always skip the tutorials anymore, but I decided to do the race with Ciri, Polish Ciri's exaggerated breathing when Geralt gets on her about controlling her breathing is fucking hilarious. I had to replay it because it caught me so off guard.
Unrelated to audio, before beginning the Missing Persons quest Geralt reunites with Yen outside Lofoten, she will comment on how long she has been waiting. Geralt said he had business he needed to attend to, Yen made a sarcastic comment about it being a Drowner contract, Geralt just nodded his head at this. Better she think it was a Drowner contract, and not what it truthfully was, his Gwent gambling addiction. If only she knew that five seconds after she had teleported away from the Druid's camp, Geralt was playing Gwent with Ermion... and then Crach... He just can't break the habit.
I've been playing on Death March from level 1 for the first time. I did have some encounters with Nekkers and the like that either resulted in a slow slog or Geralt fleeing, but for the most part its been good. Originally I was going to romance Triss but I got corrupted by Yennefer again, after I got my ass handed to me by the Djinn in the Last Wish, I though, maybe I'll be romancing Triss after all. LOL. But I did eventually slog my way through that fight.
In the past I've never really used the "General" talents much, other than Strong Back sometimes. Because Stamina is more important to me now, I was leery of not using Light Armor. I noticed the Griffin School technique gives a pretty serious boost to Stamina regen with medium armor. I've been using the Nilfgaard set ever since, don't even really need Tawny Owl.

But I did eventually slog my way through that fight. The hardest decision for Geralt. Yen or Triss. In the end I chose Yen not only because she's beautiful (not saying Triss is ugly she's beautiful too), but because she, Geralt, and Ciri have a family vibe, and I wanted Ciri to have a good home to come back to.

I haven't done the committed Triss run yet. I have been a devilish whoremongering manslut, I have been a stoic asshole that chose Shani, and I have Yenned.
I guess Triss will be my Next-Gen patch paramour.
As I played on Normal, this run (my first on "GOTY" version which did reset my 92% over 3 runs), I made it to 77% with this run, and a hard mode NG+ will I think get me my platinum trophy. The game deserves it I guess, warts and all it is overall a well done piece of entertainment.

The Duchess is dead! I just finished the main quest of the Blood and Wine dlc and it was great. gaben7 Luckily I followed your advice and saved before speaking to the little drug dealer. When I spoke to the girl Syanna noticed she had a ribbon that once belonged to her. Since Geralt figured Detlaff was going to kill her he bought the ribbon for 500 crowns. He then got all of the beans and they climbed the beanstalk. After killing the giant Syanna tried to seduce Geralt, but since he did not trust her he refused her advances. They go to where Regis set the meeting place and Detlaff came and tried to kill Syanna, but the ribbon transported her to the fairy tale world. Angry Detlaff attacked both Geralt and Regis. Geralt eventually temporarily defeated Detlaff, and Regis killed him.
Back at the palace Geralt was to get an award for killing the Beast of Beauclair. Before going to the ceremony Regis and him went to speak to the boot polish boy. Geralt asked about the fifth note, and the boy hesitant at first told them that some homeless men delivered the letters. Geralt and Regis went to the shelter. They spoke to the homeless and one of them still had a letter. The letter had the name of the fifth victim Detlaff was supposed to kill. It was the Duchess (who I liked and found sexy as hell). At the ceremony the Duchess awarded Geralt with high honors and gave him his reward for killing the beast. 5000 crowns! She is now my favorite client next to Liam and Matilda. Geralt tells her about her sisters plot but she refuses to believe it, and asks Geralt if he can stay while she announces her sisters sentence.
She tells her guards to bring Syanna. She asks Geralt what he thinks she should do with Syanna. Geralt says she should be punished. She announces the punishment but she still loved her sister. She asks for Syanna's forgiveness and they hug. Syanna grabs the Duchess' hairpin and stabs her. The Duchess' guard shoots a crossbow bolt into Syanna throat. Both the Duchess and her sister lay dead. Geralt is the worst bodyguard for royals. First Foltest and now the Duchess. Two weeks later Toussaint is still in mourning, and Geralt gets some withe flowers and places them on the Duchess' coffin or sarcophagus. Regis shows up after two weeks and brings Geralt to where he lives to have a drink and just talk. He asks Geralt if he could help him collect mandrake roots. Geralt agrees and after collecting the roots he goes to tell Regis but he is gone. Geralt follows his tracks and Regis is in a fight with a Bruxae or Alp. They kill the vampire and Regis tells Geralt he needs to disappear. He'll be heading to Nilfgaard.
Okay it's late now it's 5:27am NY time. So later on today I will post my review of all three games. Goodnight or good morning.

The best outcome, IMO. A tragic comedy lol.

The best outcome, IMO. A tragic comedy lol. This was the outcome my first time through as well, but that was because I took the other route that Regis wanted to avoid, to get the master vampire to summon Detlaff. Geralt learned a hard lesson about asking too many questions on that path.
