First the Duchess can live? How? Also when Syanna spoke about her past I did sympathize with her which is why I bought back her ribbon, but my thinking was if she can trick a higher vampire like Detlaff, what's to stop her from tricking Geralt? Also you mentioned Renfri when Geralt mentioned that name it bugged me. I did not remember where I had heard that name. I googled it and she's not only from the books but she appeared in an episode of the netflix series, which I then remembered having watched it years ago. I also remember sympathizing with that character and never knowing if she was tricking Geralt or not. To get this ending don't give Syanna the ribbon. Its possible Syanna is lying, but then why wouldn't she claim she faced much greater hardship? She was actually pretty fortunate she was picked up by some kind-hearted bandits, her life could've easily been much worse. ie. Renfri. The Netflix show doesn't do the 'lesser evil' short story any justice, which is par for the course. I suppose Renfri could've been lying to Geralt, but given that in my interpretation, Renfri commits suicide by Witcher when she realizes the object of her revenge will be forever out of reach, makes me inclined to belief her.

If I remember correctly it was a sorcerer who put Geralt on her trail. I also remember now that when Geralt kills her that dickish sorcerer tells Geralt something like that he will never know if she was really the lesser evil. If I didn't cancel my netflix subscription years ago I would re-watch that season.

Basically the mage Stregobor is one of the individuals responsible for her banishment and he is hiding from Renfri in his magical tower. Both Stregobor and Renfri try to convince Geralt to turn Assassin, Geralt tries to convince Renfri to give it up. Geralt returns to town because he has reason to believe Renfri and her men plan to start executing villagers in a hopeless attempt to lure out Stregobor. Geralt kills them all, with Renfri admitting that Stregobor would never leave his tower. Geralt sided with law and order (the lesser evil), even though he'd very much like to put Stregobor's head on a spike.

That's a good story. I recently saw on Amazon they were selling the books in english. I am thinking about buying them because I want to know more about Dandelion (whose name in the books is different I know), Zoltan, and Regis. As well as Yennefer, Triss, and Ciri.

He is still Dandelion in the English translation. I can pretty much guarantee the books won't be what you expect them to be, but that didn't stop me from enjoying them immensely. It helped that I wasn't too hung up on them not following my pre-conceived expectation. Getting some things spoiled before hand probably helped with that.

And I also do find Syanna the far more sympathetic character, for the reasons you listed. She got the short end of the stick by a mile. As a first born son who decided to remove himself from the will of one side of my parents, sometimes "mantles" aren't worth it and sometimes your parents are simply bad people. Has anyone else noticed the two different editions of the ducal family history?
There is also a family portrait that shows both daughters. Someone must have forgotten about it. Oops.
Lesser Evil short story spoilers. And thus was born the Butcher of Blaviken. There's a bit of this story in the werewolf girl bandit quest too, I think. Whatshername? Little Red or something like that?

Also, if you do plan on reading the books, I'm team read Season of Storms last. Its not all that relevant to the pentalogy, and the epilogue ambiguous as it is will make little sense without having read Lady of the Lake. Though most of the plot in Season of Storms takes place before Blood of Elves. Personally after reading The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, I debated starting Season of Storms as that is what most tended to recommend. I needed some Ciri in my life tho, so I started Blood of Elves instead, and I'm glad I did.

Tonight is Witcher night so I'll be doing the rest of the side quests. One quest I won't do is joining the tourney. Because I can't fight well on horseback. This is why I like the concept of the Mount and Blade games, but am terrible at them.

It's unfortunate that quest is locked behind participating in the tourney, because it's actually pretty interesting. I would like to punch Guillaume (is that the knight's name?) though for being such a twat.

I supposed its too late now, haha, but you could've chosen to participate as Ravix of Fourhorn. If you were just assuming, the only unavoidable horse challenge is the time trial, which involves hitting dummy targets with your crossbow and sword.

Oh you misunderstand I haven't done the Tourney yet. It was just when the quest giver had me practice on some dummies, and I was terrible hitting the targets while on horseback.

Just finished two side quests I forgot what one was about, but the one I just finished was called Knight for Hire. I had to clear out 15 spots of bandits and monsters for someone called Carmelengo or something. Most of the spots were filled with tons of bandits I died many times. But I was able to complete and Geralt got 1300 Crowns. I have a bunch of Orens and Florens to convert, but I forgot where the bank is in Toussaint.

Only have 3 more side quests to go that I know of in Toussaint. Did two quests last night one was a question mark quest where Geralt had to help a bard that was a fan of Dandelion find his friend a barber. The other quest involved a fairy tale about a woman stuck in a tree or turned into a tree I don't remember. I tried the two different ways to complete the quest. The first time Geralt told the witch that he would lift the curse himself without her help. This caused the wraith to come out of the tree and Geralt killed it. The second option was to ask the witch for help after a brief fight she tells Geralt she'll take care of the curse. Geralt returns to the tree and discovers the woodcutter was killed by his own pet wolf who was possessed by the wraith from the tree.
Two more side quests to go I'll do them tonight.

Geralt returns to the tree and discovers the woodcutter was killed by his own pet wolf who was possessed by the wraith from the tree. Did not have either of those happen. I think the result depends on what you tell the woman? Basically if you lie and tell her the knight was faithful she'll depart peacefully but if you tell her the truth, um....angry wraith? Though, it sounds like you didn't even get the option to talk to her after coming back from the witch?
Have you found the quest where you get to partner with Roach to solve a mystery? It is the bestest quest ever because Roach is adorable and hilarious.

The first time I did not get a chance to speak to her nor the second time. The second time the wraith had already been expelled and killed the woodcutter. Have you found the quest where you get to partner with Roach to solve a mystery? It is the bestest quest ever because Roach is adorable and hilarious. Lol no. How do I get this quest?

Okay, no problem I'll look it up on google. Northeast of the Dun Tynne Crossroads, marked with a (!). To lift the curse, Geralt needs to know about Sir Gareth's fate, and collect his bones. Either by finding the bones himself (in a cave near witches house), or by giving a lock of Geralt's hair to the witch. I think the woodcutter dies if you fight/threaten the witch. Anyway, I lifted the curse on Morkvarg by feeding him his own flesh, killing him. Geralt's dialogue is pretty funny, have to start calling him Geralt O'Dimm, be careful what you wish for.
