Until we know more, I, unbelievably, have to agree with Hanako. 9 years for a project of that size, price and new technology atop of that? Yah, sure. "Resources"

I'm hoping that these ARKs started out as exploratory vessles, but due to Reaperness impending (post Sovereign, during Collector mayhem) they decide to launch to get away before the main Reaper force gets to the Milky Way.
If they completely ignore the Reaper threat, why are they risking so much on a one way ticket to the middle of nowhere?
Are they sick of hanging out in the Milky Way?
Is it not cool enough anymore?
Frak, lol.

So is this leaving BECAUSE of the Reapers....Or just for the hell of it? I'm just curious why (let alone how) someone would leave so quickly, as if they have massive ADD and are already "bored" of the galaxy. What compels a species to just get their footing in this galaxy, and suddenly want to bolt? It sounds like the upfront reason is "YAY EXPLORATION!" Well... I thought Jacob explaining the Lazarus Project was bad. "Best scientists! Meat and tubes..." But this may take the cake.

So all that, the multiple massive Arks and that thing that makes them look tiny and has to be on par with the Citadel in terms of size, and the technology to get to Andromeda was created from scratch by a privately funded group in less than a decade. Excuse me, I have to go sweep up the shattered remains of the suspension of disbelief. This is just terrible. Not to mention the "create a reliable route between it and the Milky Way galaxy" This is a society that couldn't even be bothered to study mass relays enough to establish their age, let alone how to build their own. How the FRAK are they going to create a route between two GALAXIES!?

Just let me get in and shoot some aliens.
I mean it's not like it's failing to meet expectations so far, given my expectations on story are extremely low...
...unless the explanation for these Arks happens to be even more ridiculous than the Lazarus Project and even more contrived than the magic Crucible.

They didn't really explained much, and I think they'll probably leave it vague. Maybe the books will focus on that though.

Another strange thing is that It's not really clear if this project was backed up mostly by humans or other species as well.

These naysayers are silly af.
Do you really think that in a recruitment video/briefing they'll give out the true reasoning of the ark's construction? Ofcourse not, we'll probably learn the hidden secrets behind it in the game itself.

Eh I'm ok with lack of explanation for getting out of the Milky Way. As long as the story in Andromeda is good I wont care what happened back in the Milky Way.
They aren't going to touch the ME3 endings because of all the outrage 4 years ago and the fact that there are still many who are still sore and incredibly hostile. On the last trailer there was guy who got a bunch of likes for saying that Bioware will have nowhere to hide if they fuck this game up. Even as someone who hated the ME3 ending that's a really extreme reaction that should not be tolerated at all.
Even here it does sound like to me that some of you were going to damn Bioware for it no matter they said.

So they didn't even attempt to come up with an explanation, just "it exists". I had low expectations for the explanation, but Bioware managed to surprise me with how bad this is.

They (Mac et al) have repeatedly said they are wanting to honor the original trilogy within this game: I'm guessing they tie the leaving of the Milky Way into the impending threat at least, since the initiative was started before ME1 though, that means it must have been started, originally, for ' Yay Exploration'. It's the leaving that's the important part here: just leaving for the sake of ' Yay Exploration' on a one-way trip to uncertain survival odds seems mental, so hopefully they haven't gone full retard and just decided ' let's do this for no reason other than being bored with this old-ass galaxy!" Also, how did they convince a bunch of Krogan to go on anything other than an escape plan, Krogan don't seem like ' Yay Exploration' types to me XD lol.

voice #1: How are we getting to Andromeda? How was it possible no one knew about this? voice #2: Stop asking questions. You do not need to know, and there's not enough time to explain
at the end of MEA kid: Is that really how they got to Andromeda? guy: Yes, but the details have changed over time. It happened so very long ago kid: Tell me another story about how they got to Andromeda guy: haha. Ok. One more story

How did you get the game so early, Hanako? Talk about overreaction. You could say the same for the hype too though Yes, being excited for something you love is an overreaction. Deep logic there m8.

And let's remember we have explored like 1% of the Milk Way. But let's make a trip to a galaxy 600 years away because reasons. We can choose to believe there is a hidden explanation, but considering who is involved in Andromeda's development, the simplest explanation is that this is the best the could come up with.

How did you get the game so early, Hanako? Talk about overreaction. What? The explanation is there in black and white. No need for the game since that tells us about it. And every game/movie has a synopsis yet you don't know everything about the whole plot and motivations. Jesuis.

Ofcourse not, we'll probably learn the hidden secrets behind it in the game itself. in 2185, FTL engines CAN NOT run long enough to get to Andromeda without destroying the ship and killing the crew. That would happen in a matter of DAYS when the ships will have to travel for CENTURIES just to get to Andromeda (let alone a world suitable for colonizing). So yeah, I'm pretty sure a new recruit's first question will be "How do we not die getting there"?
