What do you guys think from what you have seen so far does it feel fresh and innovative to you? Don't get me wrong I loved the previous trilogy but in comparison with the first, which in my opion was the best, the third was far more combat and action driven then the original. And here we are ready to kick off a new chapter, and yet we have the same 3 man formation with you leading them? Considering that you will not play as a commander this time but instead as a basic trained rookie, they should have dropped that and let the story guide the characters, with perhaps the father of the sibblings in charge. Im also not appalled to play as a human again but there is serious lack of alien characters so far and this is afterall supposed to be a game about aliens. I don't know maybe i am being to presumptious and best is yet to come, anyway i'm curious what others are thinking so far.

Nothing feels fresh or innovative. All they did was to add a jetpack gimmick to ME3's gameplay mechanics.

I agree about the jetpack it feels out of place and unnecessary to me since we traversed without it before and we have the mako back.

I guess that's where we disagree. Its a series of games in which humans share a universe with a majority of aliens. And the aliens were the most integral part.

We're still 5 month's out from launch, could we hold off from writing the review already? I like what I've seen so far, but this early any information is seen through the lens of your own expectations, and your mileage may vary

Who cares about innovative. First, make a good game. Second, release it without (too much) bugs and glitches. Third, write interesting story and characters. Fourth, tell everyone who wants you to put microtransactions into singleplayer to go fuck themselves. Fifth, make a PC version that is a PC version and not Xbox: recolor. Then start caring about innovation. There's a lot of examples this year how to NOT do it. Coincidentally, EA did it right.

This series has very rich universe and there are so many interesting directions they could have taken it in,ways they could have improved the gameplay. Some of us just dont want to play ''shoot these 20 men to get through this door'' again.

Point taken I'm just saying in therms of mass effect 2 and 3 it could have done with some more exploring and less combat.

Point taken I'm just saying in therms of mass effect 2 and 3 it could have done with some more exploring and less combat. ME2 did have multiple hubs though whereas ME1 only had the Citadel and I don't count the barren uncharted worlds as hub areas and I see Feros/Noveria as missions. It felt like ME2 had 3 citadels, and it did feel a bit too empty after the first 2 or 3 visits, but it still left a great impression on me. I'll always think about ME2 as the game that really got me invested into the universe itself because of how much it expanded it with interesting lore additions. ME1 is like the concept itself but ME2 is an expansion of it (and retcons that I didn't care to be sour about) and then ME3 is the destruction of it JK

All the constant whinging and bitching about a game that we still have very very few details on. It's like you have a personal grudge against anyone feeling optimistic or excited, and is honestly completely and utterly obnoxious at this point.

This game isn't supposed to be about aliens. It's supposed to be about humans in space. Like every other sci-fi game, and the original trilogy. Thus it feels uninspired. They really didn't have to make this game all about humanity yet again. 3 games was more than enough.

Who cares about innovative. First, make a good game. Innovation is a big, vital part of a good game. To be fair games like XCOM 2 are really good without iterating a whole lot on the original game. Deus Ex Mankind Divided was also a good game without really innovating anything from Human Revolution. Just a few tweaks here and there to the system. When you have a solid core formula, you don't need innovation as much anymore. At least not as long as you don't release a new version every single year and burn out large portions of your fanbase within a year or two.

To no one's shock, it's always the same group of users with their constant meltdown. One would think they hate the series by now, but if anything, Bioware succeed at making them buy their games. I also would like to get my hands in these reviews copies that are already out.

I also would like to get my hands in these reviews copies that are already out. Arcian and company are so predisposed against this game that there is nothing Bioware could probably do at this point to make them like it. For me I'm just happy to have another Bioware style RPG. They are the only ones in the industry that make games like these. I want ME:A to give me the same feeling of wonder that ME1 did. For those complaining about a lack of innovation. I remember a long time ago looking at the pre-release footage of ME1 and thinking it looked like an unimaginative Kotor 1 ripoff. I couldn't have been more wrong. I think at this moment we have so little to look at its just not worth throwing a fit over.

The Mass Effect franchise was never about aliens; it was about humanity's place in the galaxy.
I have to say being a negative nancy about this must be a bit frustrating. There are so few games that I ever really truly look forward to and MEA is currently the only one so far, save whatever new IP BioWare might be cooking up and the next DA title to come out whenever.

If they are playing it safe, I really can't blame them; and if they are being innovative and just not letting any of their secrets out of the bag yet, I applaud for that. The truth is, we just don't know enough about the game yet to make those sort so predictions.

Instead of hating something how about waiting till the game comes out and then play it and then complain about ME:A, also if you really hate ME:A then why are you here?

I feel you on this mate, there are a couple people on the boards that are constantly hammering the game endlessly.....it must take so much energy to keep focus on something you dislike and keep coming back for more. I come here to share in a joint love of Mass Effect and talk about the games of old and upcoming, sure: it's OK to be critical of things no doubt, but to keep flogging a dead horse is a waste of time and does nothing for the community except inject toxicity (something we don't need as a BioWare fanbase IMO).
