Also, hardball questions are asked: "What's up with all the talent that's left over the course of development" is answered (or dodged). Flynn reveals the intial vision of Andromeda was locked down before Casey's departure (go figure), and he likens the game's development cycle to that of the original Mass Effect, saying they looked back on their old design documents to see what they wanted to do with ME1 but didn't achieve and think of Andromeda as trying to get those. He's asked if the vision for the game is more Mac's than Casey's but dodges saying the Montreal teammates were fans of ME1 before becoming devs and they really push for their ideal of what Mass Effect should be. He also talks about characters vaguely. The usual stuff, that "good stories come from great characters" driving home the BioWare belief that as long as characters are "Likeable and relatable" the plot will automatically be great. /s Also, I learned Andrew Wilson is the CEO to BioWare which I wasn't aware of, but it explains a lot of their failures (in my eyes) of recent years that, that guy has to give the go-ahead to anything BioWare wants to pitch before anything can get done. Explains why their recent games have been so circlejerk of the "Big, open world RPG!!!!111" because obviously EA wants to compete with the trend set by Skyrim because they're just business people who only care about numbers. Also he makes it sound like the game has a lot of planets to land on and "so many quests". Great.

If there's just a good core plot somewhere in the narrative that doesn't try to account for every single place you can go, making it feel as vague as possible like DA:I it could be great. I don't want exploration to be justified so hard that the plot becomes wishy washy, so I hope they occasionally acknowledge the player has freedom outside of the narrative itself in the game than some tacked on "everything you do adds to the "plot"... somehow" notion. i feel like anytime they put information out, you're always quick to paint it bad. Yeah... Well, I'll stop doing that if something gets shown off soon that actually looks impressive and not just potentially good on paper.

I'd like someone to make a thread similar to this one, but actually being objective and to not have inserted the negative(or positive) spin on it.

I'd like someone to make a thread similar to this one, but actually being objective and to not have inserted the negative spin to it. I've considered it, but couldn't help myself. I'm still baffled I'm always the first to post it though. I generally check in at Gameinformer around the same time of day when I know there'll be news, but I waited maybe half an hour before posting it anywhere and still nobody had picked it up. If people want someone other than me to do it, they should probably be more eager to get the word out there because it seems like nobody else is really pushing for it but me.

So tired of Inquisition bashing.
If you haven't noticed, this is a Bioware fan forum. There are tons of Dragon Age fans here and lots of people, like myself, who thoroughly enjoyed Inquisition.
Every time a dev says "so many quests," there's a band of brother haters on this site saying it's "Inquisition all over again. " soooooo sick of it.
Sorry you didn't enjoy Inquisition. It is made by the same company. It definitely will have some similarities no matter what, but there's definitely core differences because, you know. Dragon Age isn't Mass Effect and Mass Effect isn't Dragon Age.

I like Aaryn's optimism. I also like how he says that they're going to disappoint some fans no matter what, because there is just no pleasing some people.

SWTOR still has 100.000s players? Edit: I just want to hear about new IP, around what point in the video is that? SWTOR was empty AF the last time i got in... (like a year ago) That's my problem too. The size of the world is designed to have a sense of player population that just isn't there anymore. I'm glad it's more strictly story-focused now and still allows for co-op but it felt alive back in 2011 when it released and now it doesn't really. currently listening to Flynn. Haven't heard anything new. He did use the word "synthesis". I heard that too and felt like "urck, don't use that word xD" But yeah, it's mostly just him talking very generally after saying "that's a good question" about trivial stuff like how passionate the team is. He did make it sound like he's ready to push that release date though. He hesitates a bit about the spring-window I felt.

No one outside of the people involved is owed any kind of explanation for why team members leave a project or a company. Even when one is given by the person leaving, as in the case with Cameron Lee, people bound and determined to turn it into a smoking gun don't fucking believe them anyway, so what's the point?

I really like Inquisition, but I don't see how MEA could possibly go in that direction given that they've apparently eliminated slow tactical combat by disabling pause-and-play (something all 3 prior ME games allowed).

I just don't get the people on this site who won't like Andromeda unless it is the most perfect game in their eyes, catered to their every want and need. They will surely be disappointed. I agree that no game is perfect. I don't agree that I want Andromeda to be perfect though. DA:I entered a spectrum that's below the top-tier games that my (obviously) top-favorite titles belong in, hereamongst ME1, DA2, DA:O and several non BioWare titles from the late 90s to modern day (Obviously Dark Souls, HL2, Zelda etc.) but DA:I just entered this bad middle-tier sometimes stunning, sometimes really awful area. It's no longer about how close it is to perfection for me, it's about how close it is to being worthwhile and there is a significant downgrade to DA:I next to DA:O and even DA2 in my eyes even if certain elements like the player agency and graphics far surpass previous entries. It entered a territory of play where it lost some of that trademark BioWare quality I've come to expect, like the storytelling approach. Even ME2 at least had a cinematic, tight focus on story-driven scenes even if the plot was problematic bordering on non-existent. I Just had a couple of times in DA:I where I felt "this doesn't even feel like BioWare to me" and whatever it was instead just didn't impress me.

I just don't get the people on this site who won't like Andromeda unless it is the most perfect game in their eyes, catered to their every want and need. They will surely be disappointed. Because ME3 was extremely flawed. I mean, it was to the point where a lot of people felt (and still feel) cheated. And Bioware basically just lectured the audience on what they should appreciate about it, because we clearly didn't "get it". So, yeah, they're going to be reluctant to put their trust in what comes next. The story, the mechanics, multiplayer integration. They're going to see the cr*p Bioware has pulled in the past in what's coming in the future. The big question Bioware needs to answer (and hasn't yet) for a lot of people is: Why should we trust you again?
