No one outside of the people involved is owed any kind of explanation for why team members leave a project or a company. Even when one is given by the person leaving, as in the case with Cameron Lee, people bound and determined to turn it into a smoking gun don't fucking believe them anyway, so what's the point? This is less true with Montreal, but in Edmonton I could totally see people leaving just because they could no longer tolerate living there. Edmonton isn't for everyone. The weather is not welcoming. The air quality is surprisingly bad. The city overall is unattractive. And the bigotry is unsubtle. I really liked living in Edmonton, but many people don't.

I really like Inquisition, but I don't see how MEA could possivly go in that direction given that they've apparently eliminated slow tactical combat by disabling pause-and-play (something all 3 prior ME allowed). Gotta balance combat for MP, yo! They can balance it for MP and then just let us pause it in SP. If ME3 and DAI demonstrated anything, it's that BioWare makes unchallenging games. So letting us make them even less challenging by pausing doesn't have a downside.

I'm actually more excited about the game than ever. Imagine this...
You're in a MP session, all of a sudden it comes to a point where you can either leave the planet to die or save all the inhabitants, a screen pops up with a dialogue wheel... And you've suddenly got a SWTOR flashpoint thing going on. Which, IMO, was the best part of flashpoints (or whatever dungeons were called in that game, I can never remember).
I think that would be ultra-awesome sauce. I mean, possibly I could just be tossing some of his words together to make a word salad, but there is the possibility that I could be right.

Nice interview. I enjoy listening to professionals discuss their jobs, even in less than detailed ways (or maybe I should say preferably in this way?). Listening to Aaryn talk about the work he and his teams do reminds me how little most of us know about the many tasks involved. Much of our feedback must sound very foolish to them, at times; yet they are very gracious about accepting it.
I did like that he mentioned how BioWare is finally implementing "new" technologies, which should help their characters look less like plastic dolls. His delivery of that info almost suggested that he'd read some of the "BioWare old-timers are stuck in their ways and unwilling to change" threads.

I'd like someone to make a thread similar to this one, but actually being objective and to not have inserted the negative spin to it. I've considered it, but couldn't help myself. I'm still baffled I'm always the first to post it though. I generally check in at Gameinformer around the same time of day when I know there'll be news, but I waited maybe half an hour before posting it anywhere and still nobody had picked it up. If people want someone other than me to do it, they should probably be more eager to get the word out there because it seems like nobody else is really pushing for it but me. You know, after the thread about about loyalty quests I don't think it's completely a bad thing... It did get a lot of traffic and Ian Frazer posted something to clear things up! If we can get tidbits of information I'm not opposed to a little negativity

Inquisition was fun the first time, by the second or 3th+++ playthrough, i was falling sleep when i had to go to the Hinterlands or The blabla Coast.

Opposing monsieur Linkenski's views (as I pretty much always do...lol), I think it was a very truthful, positive and informative interview.
I really like what was said about intertwining what the team wanted from ME1 but never got to do, with the youthful exuberance of fans turned devs wanting to make Mass Effect specifically. I like that perceived symbiosis, it seems like a good mix of older ideas blending with adaptation to new gaming mechanics and design. Spring release will very likely be delayed to Autumn if required by the sounds, which is fine by me: polish my dear BioWare, polish and refine to your hearts content!
...and no, adaptation doesn't automatically mean "something something Inquisition in space", evolution is unavoidable: even the nearly-perfect and amazing CDPR know this, and I'm hoping ME:A takes as many cues from Geralt et al, as they do from the Inquisitor.

Agreed. I love the pause in the ME trilogy. It allows for limited tactical play. I don't understand the need to remove it because it turns the combat into real time. A most vicious button smashing exercise.
This design move does remind me of when Electronic Arts Chief Creative Officer Richard Hilleman decided to address a very serious issue popping up : video games are too hard. Pub on Feb 7, 2015.
I'll quote an excellent reply to this from the same article: The problem isn't in how hard your games are, EA. It's with how you are presenting the controls to the player, and how masterfully you can create a learning curve. If you feel like your games are too hard, you are either screwing up your learning curve, or you were never gamers to begin with.

Oh, looks like it's premature. No info save for it's centered around bio's core values. Oh, well. They have a sci-if and a medieval fantasy, fingers crossed it's something awesomely different this time!

I thought the OP would have realized he tends to jump the gun a little early, based on his "kiss the plot goodbye" thread unless this is an ingenious plan to lure a dev to every thread.

I'm actually going to defend Link"Guess"ski on this one... I know Link"Guess"ski is excited/interested by the prospect of MEA (because they have said so), and they have their own perspective on it, which is fine. What does sometimes annoy me from different people is a 'spun' thread title, which is not the case here, it's neutral and factual . Beyond that, if folk have a different interpretation to the OP, then let's hear it. I found it a thoughtful interview. For example, it's clear that the 'Plan' is to launch in the Spring, but they won't be nailed to the mast if for 'reasons' there is a hold up.

If we say that if you're still so fucking bitter about ME3 that there's no reason you should ever trust Bioware or buy their games again, will you leave? Because I'm willing to do that if it'll take some of this negative bullshit out of here. I'm sorry, am I triggering you? Could somebody please explain to me what that phrase means? I never heard it before 2016.

I'm sorry, am I triggering you? Could somebody please explain to me what that phrase means? I never heard it before 2016. basically, a trigger is something where a word or sound, anything really, resurfaces a memory of a traumatic event in a person's life, very common with people with ptsd, and they kinda freakout. people as of late have been using it as an edgy joke, so that's nice. stay classy, bsn.
