Alec Ryder 'DadRyder' (Official Thread)

I can't! The new N7 armor is so gorgeous it deserves its own thread! 

I'm hoping that Alec Ryder is part of the entire game. However, the fact that we have to take over as Pathfinder doesn't bode well for his longevity.

I'm still holding on the possibility that he gets injured and ends up getting a desk job or something. When you get an actor like Clancy Brown you just can't kill him in the prologue. That's just not possible...

I think Alec is going to be very much alive throughout the course of the game. The question is... will he be on our side? His motivations aren't entirely clear, so I can't say I fully trust him until we know the whole Ryder family story.

They said Alec Ryder is not a "antagonist." But even if he was, BioWare would never tell us. Regardless, he could still be a villain, much in the same light that Solas was. Either way, I don't find him trustworthy and I believe the Ryder family has a deep, dark secret that may or may not be revealed in MEA. Something isn't right about Alec Ryder.

Hm... I think we have already a bunch of problems for having a deep dark secret in the family. I dont find Alec not being trustworthy. Hes just an authoritarian figure, after all, hes our dad and he has an important mission. Anyway, your theory is good and disturbing at the same time. Now I have more questions...

Because it's totally about exploration and stuff. 

BioWare: "How can we surpass all of our previous works to provide a truly gripping experience?"

Sarcastic Intern: "Give the player character daddy issues instead of companions."

BioWare: "Genius! It will take immersion to all new heights!"

Sarcastic Intern: "Wait. Guys. I was just..."

I just hope the Ryder siblings don't turn into this:

Well, it depends on how she's written. Even if her father is TIM, that doesn't necessarily mean she'll hate him. For all we know, she could have adored him, which would lead to a very interesting and different kind of dynamic. Whereas if Alec Ryder turns out to be a villain, much in the same light that Solas was, the hero sibling Ryders will be the greatest characters to have daddy issues that ever lived.

I'm being somewhat facetious and hoping BioWare doesn't devolve the experience into daddy issues, yet again. But, you never quite know with BioWare these days... Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if MomRyder was the first test subject for the SAM implants and something went "horribly wrong."

Assuming, that's the extent of Alec Ryder's questionable activities... We have to keep in mind one of his primary interest is in "human advancement." Would it really be that hard to believe that he had other projects besides SAM? TIM would probably still come out on top, but we won't know for sure until we get to the bottom of the Ryder family mystery.
