Is there a reasoning for the Super Deluxe Edition?

Wow.

Capcom, pioneers of on-disc DLC, are now offering a "Deluxe Collector's Edition" of a game that DOESN'T INCLUDE THE GAME.

I wonder how many people will fall for this, purchasing or preordering the Collector's Edition and then discovering afterwards that they have to buy the actual game separately.  This is exactly the kind of crap that's going to evolve as long as consumers keep buying into it.

I think there is a version of ME:A that does the exact same thing. Some expensive special edition with a remote controlled Nomad replica model but without the game...

This seems to be most common with EAs yearly release titles like FIFA. However, I get the feeling that ME3MP is pretty much dead by now ( judging by the fact, that it sometimes takes ages to fill a gold lobby ), so yes, EA might shut down the servers for it.

Dunno, I played this weekend and it seems live and kicking.Yeah,it's strange, but after all this time I still like to play few games now and then.

Is the Super Deluxe Edition available anywhere else but from the Biavar website? Somewhere where I can pick it up right at midnight on the 20th I mean. If not, I am too "just" getting the DE.

Well, I was going to "donate" them $30 extra money, but I'm old-school, I like physical copies with nice covers. Pity.

It's funny that EA is acting like that with ME, while Titanfall 2 showed us how you can have microtransactions done in a nice way.

For those that haven't played it, Titanfall 2 has no season pass and all DLC are free of charge.

They included microtransactions, but it's for cosmetic stuff like skins and shit that has no effect on gameplay.

So, they can keep the community as a whole, not hiding content behind paywalls, and still have microtransactions that don't affect the gameplay. Respawn needs to be praised by sticking to this business model in this day and age. I feel it's the best model both for consumers and devs.

Plenty of games have showed us that many people will spend an ungodly amount of real cash in cosmetic stuff. But at the same time, people don't want to pay for half-assed games, or with content locked behind expensive DLCs.

Wish MEA could be like that. Until I play a MP beta, I just can't commit to pre ordering it.

Only one reason:


There are better things to spend that extra $30-40 than on multiplayer packs. Recommend saving your money and getting the standard or deluxe as we have yet to see any substantial multiplayer footage.

I think the super deluxe is not for us who will pre order or buy in early. My guess is that after 20 weeks are up anyone who gets Super Deluxe will get all 20 crates right away and get a good gear to start off with.

That is honestly the best reasoning I have seen for the Super Deluxe Edition thus far.

20 Packs right away with a guaranteed Ultra Rare per pack actually sounds pretty decent for anyone who is getting the game half a year down the road, especially if it is on a sale or something. It would be quite the boost to speed up one's progress to start playing Silver or even Gold from Day 1.

I dunno about that.  You're assuming Bioware cares about fairness.  In all probability, you're just buying into a weekly Pack Trigger which is enabled globally across all currently valid accounts, and if you buy Super Deluxe late then you missed out on the previous account triggers and are buying into what's left of the process.

Well looks like someone at Bioware thought of that and in order to prevent whining, put a short timeframe on its availability.
