EA wants to cash in on the RNG goodness many of us love/hate. EA created the practice of RNG goodness many of us love/hate. FIFA Ultimate Team is what really kicked it all off, now everything has it. It's funny that EA is acting like that with ME, while Titanfall 2 showed us how you can have microtransactions done in a nice way. For those that haven't played it, Titanfall 2 has no season pass and all DLC are free of charge. They included microtransactions, but it's for cosmetic stuff like skins and shit that has no effect on gameplay. So, they can keep the community as a whole, not hiding content behind paywalls, and still have microtransactions that don't affect the gameplay. Respawn needs to be praised by sticking to this business model in this day and age. I feel it's the best model both for consumers and devs. Plenty of games have showed us that many people will spend an ungodly amount of real cash in cosmetic stuff. But at the same time, people don't want to pay for half-assed games, or with content locked behind expensive DLCs. Wish MEA could be like that. Until I play a MP beta, I just can't commit to pre ordering it.How isn't ME's model exactly the same?! Isn't that exactly what ME3's model was, and surely there's no reason to believe that ME:A's model will be any different? This 'Super Deluxe Edition' isn't an indication of paywall, it just gives people a chance to get a head start on getting weapons/character kits but someone that doesn't have that edition can get exactly the same stuff. Hell, having people that have good stuff a little earlier isn't even a bad thing when it comes to a game that's entirely cooperative play. More over, the likelihood that this Super Deluxe Edition would be their means to offer everyone free content as they'd have got their profits from people spending money on this and/or packs.

More over, the likelihood that this Super Deluxe Edition would be their means to offer everyone free content as they'd have got their profits from people spending money on this and/or packs. Regarding Titanfall, everything that money buys in that game is cosmetic and nothing is RNG. Buying cosmetic stuff which you pick out as if you were browsing a store for clothing, and buying random loot boxes with the hopes they will make you more powerful are not same thing. If one were to choose which method is more ethical towards the consumer, I guess the answer would be a no-brainer. Now regarding the 'pay-to-win' approach in a co-op game, that is not wrong, and that is not the reason I came up with this thread. I hope Bioware finds a way to make MEAMP profitable, otherwise the game will die prematurely and become irrelevant, like it happened with DAMP. My criticism here is that they are trying to sell something which no one has any clue of what it is about. They have been doing so for two months and they are blatantly trying to milk some dollars out of impulsive buyers without giving any clue of what they are selling us in the first place. This is horrible, just horrible business practice. If it were a non-virtual product sold in the 'real-world', anyone in their right mind would be boycotting it until they have more information about it. But because it is Bioware and Mass Effect, people seem to be willing to give them a free-pass and letting them get away with just whatever.

I have no idea if the super deluxe is worth it or not. Sort of doubt it based on how many packs I earned through play in ME3MP and still mostly have crap gear. But like domi said and I wholeheartedly agree and can relate, better gear isn't really going to make me a better player nor does it really affect the fun factor of the game. If the game is fun I'll keep playing. And no amount of good gear will turn a tedious game fun. That said people are entitled to spend their money any way they want...only they can decide if it's worth it or not. I can drop 60$ on good sushi just for myself...and many would consider that an excessive waste. But it's an experience I dearly love. At the end of the day none of us really need to justify our priorities to one another.

I already regret getting the super deluxe but I would never get it if I didn't get a steal sale for 30% off on new years. It's terrible business and very poor value. After giving it some more thought I'm sure it's not worth it and we shouldn't support this greed. It seems DA:I had a similar preorder chest system, does anyone have any experience with that? It sure doesn't sound worth it to me, BUT - those were a part of your regular deluxe version on top of all the other deluxe crap that you got with the 70€ or whatever the cost was of that version at the time. So, what they are doing for MEA is separating the MP chests as a special add-on for another 20 bucks which were included in the original DA:I deluxe version. Those damn chests better be worth it (but I'm sure they won't be). The greed has just reached next level. I wonder what they'll find to cut out from the "standard deluxe" version for their next game? It's only getting worse each year.

Yeah the super deluxe edition is a bit stupid, paying £15 over the deluxe edition for very spread out fluff gear packs.
Normal deluxe edition looks like the best way to go - only £5 more than the standard edition and looks like it comes with a lot more stuff that can be assumed to be worth that £5.

The price differences are so small in the UK? Only 5 pounds for the deluxe? I'm sure the pricing was 60>80>100 for the €.

Expensive is a relative term, I go out with my wife for dinner and a movie, some treats at the theater, maybe we have glass of wine, easy $200. bucks, here in Canada the Super Deluxe was around $138 I believe, for me I have no idea whts in the extra 20 packs and don't really care, I would end up buying packs anyhow.

I remember the amount of money I put in buying Origin points to buy packs for ME3 MP, so I figured I would go ahead and spend a fraction of that up front and get the Super Deluxe Mega Bombastic Edition with all the MP goods. If I play MEA MP even a quarter as much as I played it in ME3, then I will get my moneys worth.
Besides, I can afford another $40. It won't bankrupt me.

No matter how much time you spend with it you always cherish it and every time you level it up it just gets better and better. Sometimes people will settle for a mantis or incisor. After a while it wears thin and they want to whine about yours. Every day with a Saber is a good day. You never question it or grow tired of it. I will never understand buying packs. I don't care how people choose to spend their own money. You won't hear me judge anyone. I just don't get it. I will buy DLC and things, but I have to really like it and get usage out of it. Know what I'm getting.

I ended up getting a big rebate from a parts supplier on a gift card so I went with the super deluxe. Figured it would be nice to have some supplemental packs now that my gaming time will be less with a child. Without the free money I likely would have ended with the deluxe version.

I'm also a huge fan of ME3MP and MEA will be the only game I play for along time.
