The way people care about romance and talk about it lol I just try to ignore it. The "Fans" of the series seem to care more about banging and romance more then anything else Just to weigh in, I don't care only about romances but it is a huge draw for me. I'm a huge fan of sci-fi, fantasy, and romance genres. To have them all together in a well written novel is a jackpot. To have them all in a well written VIDEO GAME where I can actually take part and steer the story is like.... being fed ambrosia on Mount Olympus by Adonis. It's fantastic.

I think they've just responded to fans that ask in an excited way, if they will be able to bang all the things and they just answer them in a funny way saying yes, and joking around, but romances are very well done in Bioware and I'm pretty sure it will not be just banging. Although you have to take into consideration that the new characters are younger, so being immature might fit into their characters. If that's the case then i'm still pretty sure romances will have some sweet moments and not everyone will be the same.

Heaven forbid the devs have a chuckle amongst themselves and with their fans. They're human just as much as we are--and joke about these things just as much as we do.
I personally have no worries, not when there hasn't been a single character or romance that's been about just sex with little extra substance. Even the characters that started off preferring a sexual relationship to a romantic one end up with something more emotionally fulfilling by the end--and that doesn't have to be romantic. If the devs chose to make an aromantic character with a strong platonic storyline that just happens to include sex, I wouldn't call it shallow. Is there room for improvement? Definitely, but that doesn't mean what's come before has been terrible. Especially not when Bioware is one of the only game companies that let us develop our characters' relationships in this kind of way and I appreciate them for it.
And that's what the romances mean to me personally. People can scoff at those who enjoy them, but I think in some cases they're missing the point. I personally enjoy creating a character I identify with--not myself, but a character that has pieces of myself as I am and pieces of the person I want to be or traits I simply find interesting. I enjoy developing them and their relationships and that includes romantic when given the option.
For other people it's part of the escapism, as these games let them explore relationships they feel they might never have or aren't worthy of. Say what you will about Anders, for example, but I know plenty of people with bipolar who identified with him on that particular level, and the fact their character could romance and care for him meant a lot to them as they'd come to view themselves as being unworthy of that kind of thing.
Then there's how they offer inclusion, of course, and how people can actually play a game where they get to be themselves--including their own orientation, instead of watching two characters of the opposite gender kiss and maybe finding the couple cute, but lacking that personal connection.
Anyway, twitter jokes aside, where it comes to serious discussions and questions in articles they've always had a serious answer. And those answers always skew towards that they want to do better, make the relationships feel more natural and move away from this 'cake baking' formula where 'sex is the goal' and that's when 'you know the romance is done'.

To have them all in a well written VIDEO GAME where I can actually take part and steer the story is like.... being fed ambrosia on Mount Olympus by Adonis. It's fantastic. This! It's not the most important thing at all, but, planning who I might romance in a playthrough goes with planning the character I want to roleplay, as part of the larger story arc I'd like to see for them. It's just one of the more fun things to speculate over for some, which is why it gets talked about so much. Also, my counter-argument to people only caring about romance is exhibit A: the Tempest thread. Like 40 of those 50 pages are people debating over whether the Tempest should have guns on it despite space battles being 1% of the trilogy. So I would say whether or not there are "pew pews on the spaceship" as I believe one poster eloquently put it is just as important. Also, you're not doing a very good job of ignoring the romance stuff if you're posting in a thread with 'romance' in the title...

The bang jokes sort of got carried away when Gamble showed a picture of an Angaran. Someone asked if they could kiss him and were told "mhm" then another asked "can we do more than just kiss them? All the bang?" and a dev replied "ALL the bang" then even Tom Taylorson got in on the joke and hashtagged #PrettyGoodBanging so it's all in good fun!

Who's this "boyish woman" you're talking about? I know you can't mean Cora Harper, cuz she's 100% hottie! Personally not a fan of the hairstyle, but I don't find her unattractive in anyway. I do not mind it; I believe earrings would compliment it.

one thing is sure about options : a man and an ugly boyish woman for Scott lots of men and hot women and asari for Sarah maybe the writings on romances outside the rew are well wdeveloped, i'm not woried at all, besides, romances are not the most relevant nor important element about a game or this game, MEA is abou exploring a new galaxy, finding new home for humanity, etc ಠ_ಠ Wait a tick, where are these other women for Sarah? I was just hoping Cora is available.

Personally not a fan of the hairstyle, but I don't find her unattractive in anyway. Yeah, she's fine. Try telling that to people over at YT comments section though. It's the end of the world over there, the last nail in the coffin. All because Cora is "ugly", "unbangable" and has bad hair. Sigh. Yeah, but it's YT comments. It's right down there with the Yahoo news article comment section.

They just know their audience ^^; Romances are what lot of players are interested in and like to joke about in somewhat immature manner (myself included). BW's response just mimics fandom to me. I wouldn't take it that seriously though, of course the game itself including romances has more serious tone.

The negativity over Cora 's hair I see almost everywhere is just way much of an overreaction. It's funny how brain works ,if u guys think about it it's all about the hair. If someone hates a haircut or associates a certain haircut with things the don't like, then the person with the haircut becomes aitomatically ugly. I bet if Cora had a blonde ponytail like Sarah, a bun like Ashley which implies she has long hair or the same side part but longer than the shoulders then NO ONE would complain. They'd say she is one of the hottest squadmates ever. And they keep saying it is boyish...When was the last time anyone stepped out the house and actually saw a guy sporting that haircut? I have seen some but they were mostly alternative looking (goth for example or ...a football player? ) but it is certainly not an average boyish haircut. On the other hand , I see plenty of women with similar haircuts everyday almost. It's way more common in women and than in men. Edit:Added comment.

Oh? Lots of men, you say? Who? What? Where? As far as I know, the only likely male romance for Sara is Liam at the moment. And that hasn't even been confirmed yet. Maybe she can romance the krogan. yeah I'm kind of hoping that's possible as I've got an idea for a feisty Sara who somehow falls in love with Drack. Not sure we can pull it off yet but it would be interesting.

Neither do I, but watching people getting riled up about unimportant things like these is often more interesting than the matter itself. I am still trying to understand how discussions over trivial matters can get out of hand so quickly on the internet, so far with no success.

Well, if you do, I can recommend this to add scientific basis to your endeavor. www.flamewarriorsguide.com/It's one of the reasons why I just look at what BioWARE presents, and don't ask questions about getting a black or oriental females as a part of the crew. There was also a wonderful comic strip about a gaming forum, but I can't for the life of mine find it.
