Yeah, if one reviews the last 20+ pages, that's the true issue; not listless or angry complaining by those with "nothing better to do". Most are unhappy with the human animations; and Sara's are the worst, or most pronounced, of the batch.

We can only hope that the day one patch brings them up to "not a distraction" levels of quality.

Specifically, they've incorporated performance capture into the mix for the first time with MEA. Obviously, the exotic aliens are unaffected. (No word on how the asari look.) Humans, though, are being animated by a combination of facial mo-cap and "by-hand" fine-tuning. It's been rough. I think it's required a lot more tuning than they'd anticipated.

Inquisitions was in Frostbite and wasn't nearly as bad. Maybe they can give the MEA team some pointers. I really hope they get it sorted by the time the game releases.

Oh but it's going to happen in MEA fanfiction and fanart, trust me... Just take a look at the fandom for the TV show Supernatural where the two main protagonists are brothers and you'll see an insane amount of incestuous stories and some artwork as well. So while the whole Sara/Scott thing isn't going to happen in-game, it WILL definitely happen both in fanfiction and fanart.

That being said, I don't understand either why people are all worked up about poor Sara. I don't think she's gorgeous but she's definitely not hideous either. If anything, I think she's a little too cute to command respect and look threatening. And like the OP said, that's what character customization is for.

It's absolutely the textures! Sheploo's textures are still the highpoint for this series, it seems, 10 years later.

In their effort to make the twins look youthful, they may have scrubbed away too much life from Scott and Sara. This style of ~~animation~~ textures is definitely less lifelike than Sheploo's look of old. It's not the models themselves. Both 2007 Vanderloo and 2017 Brewis are exceptionally good-looking dudes. Vanderloo just got a better, or more faithful, VG transition.

Spot on mate, that's the nail on the head right there: Meer to Sheploo is a faithful transition and a very near likeness (even in ME1), whilst Brewis to Scott Ryder is a very, very non-faithful transition (and an actual likeness of Brewis would of been bloody great to be honest, perfect look for Scott IMO).

The 'youthful' sandpaper treatment got over used for sure: now.... who's going to be the awesome modder to knock together a week 1 'Scott Ryder - Improved Brewis Edition' mod..... I'm not sure how moddable Frostbite is, but I'm hoping it's possible!
