Let's just prepare ourselves that hair won't move. Yeah, this has already been confirmed. Strange they market the game with a stock female look that has a ponytail when two cutscenes now have shown us that it's glued fast whenever it's not being animated because of her running animation.

It has been confirmed that there is no way to change our appearance/hairstyle/beard after we exit the Character Creator at the beginning of the game. www.inquisitr.com/3936434/dont-expect-to-be-able-to-change-ryders-appearance-in-mass-effect-andromeda-after-creation/I don't usually like to complain, but I am going to complain to get some traction to get help get this changed via early update. This is a little sad and slightly lazy IMO for an RPG game in 2017. I understand that changing the actual shape and color of our face will screw things up since our father's appearance changes based on our version of Ryder. It wouldn't present a problem to give us the option to change solely our hair and facial hair. Don't be limiting like Destiny or the Division. Hell even Dragon Age: Inquisition added this after a public outcry/requests but also lacked it in the vanilla game. Embrace the standard RPG features of more trend setting games like Skyrim, Witcher 3, Fallout, etc and do it right. Just add in a space barber on the Nexus! Please comment below and add to the poll if you want this added asap. If you say no, please give us a good reason why. Thanks! Also please go tweet @masseffect, @tibermoon, aarynflynn to get your voice heard and get this changed. The positive constructive criticisms by the public on the profile wheel and Sara Ryder's face had positive outcomes as the devs are listening. Yeah, the whole your dad's appearance changes based on your appearance might be why they didn't add it in, but it doesn't explain the second part of your query: why can't we change hair style, hair color, makeup??
Because I can't tell you how many times I restarted the other mass effect games because my fricking eyebrow color was weird outside of the CC and it just did not go with my hair/face. It is super annoying to have to start all over because of something as small and seemingly insignificant as wanting to darken/lighten the shade of my eyebrows, but I'll be damned if eyebrows don't make or break a face..
+1 this should be an option for those who either dislike what they created, or simply want to make some tweaks. At the least, hair styles should be an option, as humans do sometimes like to change it up. Exactly^
What's the point of being the only species with hair if we can't style it when the mood strikes, eh?

Urrghghghghghghghhh bugger. If there's a chance to change I always do, frequently, until my character's face is just right. The simple fact is you just don't know how the features will move until you've seen them in many cutscenes with various lighting, so I make a face then go back and tweak it half a dozen times. Until then seeing their face in cutscenes is like an itch I need to scratch, it bothers me until I've tweaked and poked it around and then finally TA-DAA!! it's perfect and I'm finally happy. Yes I'm one of those ppl who fixate on these things. DA:O - I use the mod that lets me swap heads and do so frequently for the first few hours. DA2 - Well hello again Xenon. Yes I know, I'm here so often I need a loyalty card. DA:I - Hey Xenon, Hawke recommended the place. A mmmmmoisssstttt toilette you say? Ermm... ME1 - Crap can't change it, restart, restart again, restart, oh bugger it this will do ME2 - WTF is this CC screen? Urgh this will take a while ME3 - Learn how to use the mod kit so I can change Shep's face in the most amusing of ways. The day one eyeball was floating above her head stands out in my memory... So in short, I luv you BioWare but you jeez you suck. You don't need a lore reason for it, just an option in the options menu.

you don't need a lore reason for it, just an option in the options menu. I would be okay with this. I'm just all about game immersion. I'm sure there will be mods but I'm on PS4. I'm most likely using the default face for Scott, but apparently we can edit the default face too. Giving him a full beard or longer hair later in the game would be ideal.

I though we would have the chance to change our hairstyle/beard in our bedroom after knowing Bioware had to add the Black Emporium DLC in DAI lel Bioware improves too little, like now we can have all the colors we want for our armors and outfits but they didn't release we want to change our hairstyle or grow our beards in game. ??? Anyway, not big deal, I guess.

All of the faces, default and presets are actual facial scans of people so there is no drop in quality. If we can customize the presets, why would we not be able to do the same for defaults if it's using the same technology. At the very least the hair style and hair/eye colors

There is a default Ryder (who we have seen in trailers) and there are several presets, just as in previous ME games.
The only difference now is that all of them are based on face scans, but the ability to morph/change those presets has only been enabled for the non-default presets. Why? I don't know. I don't like it, but there we go.
It *might* be because BioWare want to maintain the default Ryders as the iconic looks for the game, and having people changing a little bit of this or a little bit of that but still have them be recognisably default Ryder dilutes somewhat their marketing icon. I'm guessing, but it might have something to do with it, idk.

Lol this is quickly turning into a "no-man" week. First Flynn saying you can't customize bodies, then being told squad ability-selection is gone, now this.
Some of those "no"s aren't surprising but it's still a week of BioWare going "Nope, no, can't do that" lol. They decided to be honest with us, that's fine.

Maybe they looked at the witcher's success and said, "Nah, this isn't that important to gamers for this game to be successful." Sure you can get a haircut in Witcher 3 (Mostly after the free dlc was added) but you couldn't alter anything else about Geralt. I have no doubt a hair changing feature will be added later as an update, but I would rather the public/fans get on them now so we get it sooner rather than later.

Whether they should or shouldn't add a "black emporium" type of post CC editor in game is not much of a concern for me... AS LONG AS the CC has GOOD, CLEAR, WHITE LIGHT (preferably a few light options, taken directly from in-game, like BnS CC). If that's ok, than you don't really need a post CC editor in-game. If it's as bad as the DAI CC, with that stupid green/yellow/wtf-kind-of-color-is-that light you had and which was present NOWHERE else in game (well except for that one time during one quest for 10-20 minutes when you went in the fade), than yeah, it'll be irritating. You'll create a char and be all "oooo pretty " only to start the game afterwards and suddenly be like "WTF IS THAT THING??? KILL IT WITH FIRE!!! ". We'll see how it goes lol.

The lighting in the cc should ideally be able to be changed by us, so we can see different lighting conditions from the areas we'll spend the most in. If they can only give us one, though, then it should be good, clear exterior lighting. We are used to seeing real faces in real lighting, and we will design faces according to what we expect to see normally, and not what we expect to see in a murky space-age cabin/magical dream world.
I'm calling it now: the cc will be based at the moment we emerge from our stasis pod - meaning it will be dark, perhaps with one bright light from one side, and not at all representative of any of the rest of the lighting in the game.
