In my opinion the geth/quarian peace option should have been achievable without presence of Tali and (arguably) Legion and most importantly - without the reaper code upload. I agree with that. I even posted that a few times on the old forum. If the genophage can be cured without Wrex and/or Mordin, why can't peace happen between the geth and quarians without Tali and Legion?

We could also ask why the Genophage is curable without Maelon's data; it'd be easy enough to write a scenario where neither Mordin nor Wiks could cure the genophage, and we're locked into lying to the krogan from the start.

Honestly, one of the most unrealistic aspects of ME3 was how it resolved so many issues in a rapid amount of time. Curing the genophage. Resolving the quarian/geth conflict. Finding out why asari are so exceptional. There was just a lot of deus ex machina being employed at times because BioWare wanted to tie up loose ends. Honestly, ME3 probably should have been two, if not three, games. Trying to cram all of that content into one just made it feel rushed and brief. Some of it was well-executed, but other aspects were just mind boggling. I suspect BioWare probably would have also done a lot of the ME2 companions more justice had there been more development time.
