Team AI is a complete joke. Needs a LOT of polishing before release.

I don't think people want the squadmates to be uber powerful, but efficient in fighting and covering.

If your teammates killed all the things, the game would be boring.

I love Sera and Dorian, but I can't argue with this. Cass is my inky's homegirl. 

I think it's a problem with the ai prioritisation strings where the ai doesn't have a strong enough suite to adapt to changing conditions of the battlefield, It probably goes something like (target with x quality in x range - then do x action), (target shooting at you - take cover), but because they are badly prioritised the ai vacillates between actions and ends up running back and forth like a headless chicken. What is really disappointing is that this sort of coding is easy to test and implement, so much so that they even made it a game feature in DA:O, so there is really no excuse for much crap AI.

"Take a deep breath and realize it is only a game. Jeez." It isn't "only a game". It's an investment, of money and time.  Money and time that we have put into Bioware games over many years and are now considering continuing to support. It's a business, it's a product and as such companies have obligations to deliver a product worthy of the consumer confidence. I agree it is because of lackadaisical attitudes of some gamers, particularly young ones. and hormonal pre-order frenzies that the gaming industry as a whole has been effected in some very negative ways. These consumer behaviors do in fact encourage practices that do not always benefit the consumer at large.  Participating in pay to win schemes, pre-ordering of sight unseen products (that encourage bait and switch behaviors on the part of distributors), accepting over the top bugginess and day one 20gig patches. All of these behaviors work to undermine the consumer. Cheery disposition is one thing, but prudence and sobriety serve better when considering product purchases. The gaming industry is the ONLY industry that gets away carte blanc with a whole handful of questionable practices and are rarely held to account, occasionally (See Aliens: Colonial Marines) but rarely. There should be lemon laws applied to  industry. Having said all this I'm sure MEA is going to be just fine. Not perfect but playable in every significant way.

I do agree, I think the party AI will only be a problem for me is if it is worse then Mass Effect 3 and that will take some doing, so they would stand on cover refuse to do anything but spin in circles and die.

One thing I am wondering is how old the build they were playing was.  I am tempted to think it was the same build they sent off for certification to Sony and Microsoft for they probably tested that build to make sure it wouldn't fail certification.

I still think it is only a game. I'm neither young nor hormonal so that is not applicable to me if that is what you tried to do. If the game suck, it's gonna be a let down but the world will still spin. I assure you.

But I do have a cheery disposition and still do not understand why some people act like Bioware (or any other game developer) insulted their mother just because they didn't program the best AI... EVER!

I never had to worry about the AI before because I could command them. I really hope I'm not going to be as frustrated as I fear that they gutted the tactical pause from the series, a defining aspect of the series for me.  I hadn't even thought about the AI or the potential problems ditching player control over them introduces.

Maybe you should leave, if you can't stand some criticism. You're pretty much saying "I only care about story, so fuck everyone else who cares about other things than me." Ignorance at its finest.
