Which was a good decision, then. Rebooting a franchise, barely a decade since it's first instalment and only 4 years since last instalment, would have been a terrible idea. Any serious reboot needs at least a generation gap to work. There are exceptions. Like when the final installment is so bad it fractures the fanbase. I mean, look at the Spider-Man movies Don't even remind me of Spider-Man 3, what a tragedy. Literally the Batman and Robin of the franchise.

Yeah that IGN video sucked, mainly due to the reviewer's sucky gameplay and ability. They have 20 days to turn this around.

What would be funny is a Character Creator trailer where they only made some derpy faces, that would show off the power of the CC and ironically poke fun at the facial animation debate, ...and actually never put me in charge of marketing anything.

The mods really need to censor these sorts of anti-bioware threads. We shouldn't be criticising them. I trust bioware.

Did this place become Gamefaqs when I wasn't looking? IGN being horrible at previewing every damn game they get their hands on has literally nothing to do with Bioware itself, anyway.

I think the only bad marketing moves you can do is forgetting to put the name of your product in the adds, & not getting the name out there.

So, I'm not the only one who thinks that this marketing campaign is the worst I've ever seen for a game. I would say the marketing for Mighty No. 9 was just as bad if not worse. At least EA's marketing team is finally starting to get the lead out of their collective asses and so far hasn't intentionally insulted (or unintentionally I guess depending on your POV) the fan base that would be most likely to buy ME:A.

Yeah that IGN video sucked, mainly due to the reviewer's sucky gameplay and ability. They have 20 days to turn this around. I think it was a combination of things: 1. Destin sucked balls at demonstrating the game. 2. They edited out dialogue and cutscenes for spoiler purposes. I understand some people don't want to see spoilers, but this was a bad decision, as it removed a lot of context from the mission. 3. PeeBee is the most disliked squad member of the new batch, and once again Bioware decided to push her in marketing. They should be pushing Drak, Vetra and Jaal right now. 4. The gameplay was too hand holdy. Now obviously there are new mechanics being introduced in the gameplay here, but people who are watching the video don't know that, so it's giving the wrong impression. 5. Once again, bad facial animations. This has been the subject that has received the most criticism in the past few months. So why they showed another unpolished scene, is baffling to me. 6. The banter was a bit childlike. Which does make sense since this is Peebee we're talking about. However this is our first real exposure to uninterrupted dialogue and story footage. So it's giving a bad impression. All in all, I think it was a poor representation of the game. They obviously did not think this one through and they paid the price for it. The one good thing to take from this is giving the amount of dislikes, and the damage control Mike Gamble and Aaron Flynn went through on twitter yesterday, they're probably going to be more careful from here on out. Hopefully. I mean...theoretically...

No, they haven't; I'll give you that. But it seems like they kicked out their former marketing expert(s) and assigned their task to the janitor. This campaign was not intentionally crap, but they screwed up.

Did Mirrors edge catalyst even get any advertising? Nope! It was released a few days before E3 2016 and EA didn't even mention it on their press event, really? You have a stage, lots of people in the audience watching, millions of people watching the world over, how long would it take to say that Catalyst is out and show a damn trailer. So EA isn't exactly the best at marketing.

Yeah, EA has been an odd ball. Their Titanfall 2 marketing was piss poor as well. And who in that company decided it was a great idea to release their two biggest shooters of last year, Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 within a week of each other? I guess those holiday sales goals were so important but at least the consumers got both games for $35 each within month of release.

I just can't help but think this is 'our ' fault. Bioware as a company is known for over compensating for criticism.
And what happened during the campaign for inquisition? Ninety percent of what was marketed in the game was in the game and yet bioware was called liars and that they misled the public about the game. Even though it was clear or should have been that the game was not finished. Even though the public was not even supposed to get their hands on it bioware was reamed by a lot of people.
As a result we now have to deal with a marketing campaign which appears stingy, not that i blame them, and every video released now has a disclaimer.
And as far as not wanting to risk spoiling things bioware spoiled major bits of Dragon age inquisitions plot via the last marketing. People complained, i being among them, so now we have them being careful about such things.

I guess it's more a chicken and egg thing: If BW wouldn't always overcompensate for criticism, people wouldn't criticize them as vehemently. Sorry, but it's not the audiences job to make a companies life easier... it's on the company to decide what they are willing to listen to. Also, I doubt it's all BWs fault. My guess is they would handle their customer relations much differently if they weren't beholden to EA.
