Zelda's reviews impacting ME:A?

Why does everyone need to be in competition with everyone else, in what is tacitly assumed to be a zero-sum game? Is there no room for two equally good games? Why does there have to be a single bestest-super-over-dominant in all comparisons?

I also don't understand the weight of this elusive term, 'GOTY'. They're awarded by everyone, their grandmothers, and their dogs. When award-snatching becomes a precondition for being taken seriously, everyone has to invent ways of snatching bullshit awards anyway. That's why we have a problem with 'participation awards' -- it's not that people are too emotionally frail to withstand the pain of being awardless, it's because people have to keep justifying their existence in one zero-sum game or another; being 'awardless' is like being less than nothing.

Inevitably yes, in a sense. Same as with Horizon. The reviewers have JUST had a peak in gaming with both HZD and Zelda and the next thing they get their hands on is MEA. They can't not end up drawing comparisons in terms of their overall enjoyment.

I guess I'm just also wondering if the high reviews for Zelda and Horizon might elicit a more critical eye for ME:A in comparison. Like, will it be judged more harshly? Or do you think it's more going to compare it to the original trilogy?

I don't think it will, they're too different, to be honest, to effect one another. There's a thread like this every week for another game now it's getting a little boring seeing them pop up so much.

ME2 beat Super Mario Galaxy 2 which has a 97 score on Metacritic when GoTYs were concerned. Also roughly tied with RDR which has a 95.

MEA won't be near that level of quality I guess. But I still hope it can be as good as ME1 or ME3.

Andromeda is more accessible to more people. Not many people have a WiiU, and it will probably take people a while to get a Switch.

Neither Zelda or Horizon are in the same category as Andromeda.
