It's like Drack saying in PeeBee's loyalty mission, "Gotta take out the trash!" referring to those people that are in your way. I don't think I could write something that bad. I'm no writer, but fuck. I can certainly come up with something better than that. Let me give you an example. TWD : A New Frontier vs the original TWD. A New Frontier doesn't have bad writing, it's just not as interesting as TWD original. This? This is just bad writing. Bland as fuck. "We thank the Angara for making it a pleasant experience." Holy fuck, can you come up with more lackluster and and boring approach? So, a Krogan being a Krogan is bad writing now? Which series have you been playing? Also, what's the issue with that last quote, uh? Have you ever attended a professional business meeting of some sort? An exchange? Dealings? Gotta love those random writers in the internet. Bad writing has really lost its meaning. Seriously A Krogan saying gotta take out the trash is considered bad writing? What? And how is that Angara quote bland?

Going to wait for my own review which I will find out about tomorrow You know you can only play for 10 hours and the story isn't completable, right? If a game doesn't hook you in the first 10 hours, it never will. Which is why i think this trial is a good thing. Atleast it gives me the freedom to test it out, and if i like it i get a discount on buying it and then the trial was free. If not, no big loss.

Kotaku's Patricia Hernandez writes like a glorified forum poster. I thought Walker's style was too ranty ranty though, but you can feel Patricia gushing over things she can't even articulate properly. I can't believe they have her as a journalist there but I guess they need those clicks. You actually think Kotaku engages in anything that could even remotely be described as "journalism"?

My one response to the rock, paper, shotgun article is they must of also hated the first several hours of Witcher 3 as well. Games of this size, especially when you are trying to introduce new people into the franchise, need to start out a slower pace. It doesn't need to be for tutorial reasons but more for lore building reasons. I loved Witcher 3's slow beginning hours, and besides the human facial animations, I've loved watching the beginning 4 or 5 hours of Mass Effect: Andromeda so far on twitch. But I understand that's not for everyone because I still know people who bought the Witcher 3 and didn't like the first 10 hours because they were so slow so they stopped playing the game entirely. But... didn't this article imply the exact opposite? That the opening feels rushed and within a hour your character is the chosen one, same as in DAI? Inquisition had a TERRIBLE rushed opening. So did ME3 for that matter. I WISH Bioware would take their time to set the mood. What I wanted for Andromeda was a 10min cutscene that shows the crew part with their old lives. See them say goodbye to loved ones. Or depart without a send-off, depending on their background. I wanted to see and FEEL what it's like embarking on a one way trip into the unknown. See how they enter into cryosleep. All done in cinematic atmospheric cutscenes. Then they wake up to a crash situation. I would have liked to spend maybe 5 hours just trying to survive this crash on a hostile planet. Tend to the wounded, trying to find food. SLOWLY Ryder could have grown into an authority figure... I don't even understand why people would be in awe of a pathfinder. I mean, it's just a job. One they trained for, no? A pathfinder is not like a Spectre. In DAI they at least had a good narrative going with the religious theme, even if it was rushed as hell and cringe-worthy as a result. But overall it was one of the better contemplations of religion and why we all need saviors to believe in. Both DAI and Witcher 3 took some time to get into. Say, 5-10 hours. DAI didn't grab me initially because of the poor intro. But then I had a really good time despite the dull sidequests and lack of actual cities. Witcher 3 left me a bit stranded, lacking clear focus until the Bloody Baron stuff. I was running through farmland, not really intrigued by it. I didn't even know what was main story stuff! I was under-leveled for everything. The beginning could definitely been done better. But then it got sooooo good. I COULD be like this in MEA too. But too much looks plain terrible that I'm resigned to it being not just mediocre but embarrassingly shallow. I don't think a long cutscene showing the central cast parting from their families fits particularly well in a narrative sense. We don't know these characters yet, so seeing their personal lives is rather meaningless at that stage. There's some point where the game may be better served by a dose of brevity, because getting all these details may may look more like fluff with little emotional impact. For any faults in Fallout 4, I thought its intro was rather brilliant. We got the basic premise of what this world is about, and got enough of a prologue sequence that we got a feel for a couple of characters before the disaster strikes. From the looks of it, the intro to this game is no more rushed than ME1. If anything, ME1 gets right in it a bit faster than this does. I doubt it would have been improved it it showed a long cutscene showing the discovery of the prothean ruins and the charon relay, because as cool as those things might sound, it would drag down the first act of the game and taken away from the main character's story, which is its primary focus.

Been playing a while now and can say that the game is good. Can't say it is excellent yet but so far so good.
Slightly annoyed at the facial animations still but apart from close ups when in dialogue the game is fluid and that is something you don't notice while travelling about. This is my first impression and I can't speak for anyone else. But I'm enjoying it.

I saw someone calling a Wizard of Oz reference, said by Liam at an appropriate moment, bad writing. I also saw one previewer on PC Gamer who is complaining that Sara Ryder sound like a snarky 20 year old. Last I checked there wasn't that much difference between 20 and 22 years old. As for the snarky, I admit I'm totally biased, I always pick the snarky responses in BioWare games (there are a lot of them).

In squad combat dialogue has always been hit or miss. I will destroy you!! Gravity is one mean mother!!! So no surprise lol
I'll take cheesy dialogue over silence though. It at least gives the squad some personality, compared to just silence

Chris: More than anything else, my early experience of Andromeda was defined by just how closely it mirrors the first game. This is a spiritual successor to the first Mass Effect in many ways, ignoring or undoing many of the ways the original series changed in its sequels. It's an RPG with shooter elements, not a shooter with RPG elements.Chris is the guy who played the most of the game and really likes it (Tyler also likes it).

At one point I ran a group of Kett over in the Nomad and Ryder shouted out triumphantly: “Speedbump!” Ugh, ugh, ugh. Is that enough, or do you want the name of several shows that I could, and should prolly, recommend? Bones? NCIS? Castle? NCIS : LA? Supernatural? I could go on. You want me to?

Sounds like DAI all over again unfortunately. It's baffling they didn't learn the first time. It it's about the open world features/quests, the previewers mostly said it's better then DAI. So they're either lying or the game opens up on better type of quests later on. I want to note though that I did see a quest on the Nexus, not a main one, and it wasn't the typical fetch quest. If they failed to at least improve on DAI This regard, they should seriously considering toning down their games in terms of areas, and making a middle ground between DAI/MEA and their previous games.

You honestly want me to compare and contrast "Enemies everywhere!" to............ "Speedbump!"?
I certainly hope not, but if you're willing, so am I.

It's not about them being on the same level. It's the fact that you can't judge the writing by those lines. At least in my opinion. Also, cheesy and idiotic lines were always present in Bioware games. I want to judge it by seeing the whole thing, or at least a good part of it. Note, I am a bit concerned about this, but I simply won't judge all by a line said in combat.

One is about the enemies letting their friends know where the enemy is. One is a pedantic, almost sociopathic, attempt at making a joke. Attempt being the key word.

I don't know if I'd immediately jump on the game for bad writing from a few individual lines said during combat or while driving. It's not like the every bit of dialogue squad mates said during combat or where ever in the original trilogy were exemplary examples of writing either. What about the dialogue from actual conversations?

Even without considering the problems of the lines being repeated over and over in ME, that line doesn't help at all in finding enemies. It's a stupid line. People made jokes and jokes about it. I don't like the other much, but I don't see how it can be either pedantic or sociopathic. Does Ryder repeat it over and over?
