Oh, come on. Even without considering the problems of the lines being repeated over and over in ME, that line doesn't help at all in finding enemies. It's a stupid line. People made jokes and jokes about it. I don't like the other much, but I don't see how it can be either pedantic or sociopathic. Does Ryder repeat it over and over? Huh, how's that list of shows treating you? Well, I assume. It's funny that I said that I don't like the line, and you interpreted it as if I said it was cool just because I don't think it's pedantic and sociopathic. For your information, I like different kinds of shows, books and movies. A person can like different kinds of stuff, but keep on your superior attitude.

Wow. When someone runs over a guy, killing or maiming him in the process and yells triumphantly "Speedbump!" and you think that's not[/i] sociopathic?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Tell me another one.

Huh, how's that list of shows treating you? Well, I assume. What were the list of shows for? He mentioned showns with dumb/cheesy jokes or similar stuff, and compared to MEA. I am going to play the game expecting this, regardless of his condescending attitude, because previewers both positive and negative mentioned that or similar stuff (like comparing it to GotG). Not that Bioware games didn't have those type of dialogues, but people tend to forget it.

Well, it's definitely not pedantic, since it implies that say the same thing over and over. But I didn't find it funny that you made such a mistake. And no, it's not necessarily a sign of being sociopathic. It can simply be a sign of person making dumb and inappropriate jokes. We also had characters before that made similar lines. Do you think they're sociopathic too?

I think one of the things that just pulls me outta my immersion, or one of the things that did was the fact that Cora said something along the lines of, "Feels like it's been centuries since I could say that." Implying that she could sense time was passing in cryo. If that doesn't sound like a writer just phoning it in, having his/her secretary doing the writing, I dunno what does. "Have her make a joke about being on ice for 600 years. Now I'm gonna get another mai thai and bang some more bitches." Or maybe she's just kidding around, and she's been put into cryo before. Hey, it's not a big deal. Everybody's been put into cryo before. Freeze this, freeze that, freeze everything. Except one thing she doesn't realize, that Shepard was never put into cryo, so we don't know what it's like. So, the game is missing part of it's evolution. If we are to take Javik, the only person we've ever known to be put into cryo... To quote Liara, "To us it's been 50,000 years. To him it's only been a few moments." It just sounds like a writer phoning it in. I'm sorry, it does. This seems very confused. Cora's obviously joking there, just like Ryder did a few minutes earlier. It's a joke because she didn't actually sense time passing in stasis. If she had sensed time passing, it wouldn't be a joke, it would be a nightmare.

Or like when Liam says "Been waitin' 600 years for this"
Ryder: Really? 600 years?
Liam: What? It's….just an expression. Was it really necessary to ruin the moment?
Ryder: Yes. Yes it was.

It's baffling they didn't learn the first time. It it's about the open world features/quests, the previewers mostly said it's better then DAI. So they're either lying or the game opens up on better type of quests later on. I want to note though that I did see a quest on the Nexus, not a main one, and it wasn't the typical fetch quest. If they failed to at least improve on DAI This regard, they should seriously considering toning down their games in terms of areas, and making a middle ground between DAI/MEA and their previous games. That should be good then

Sounds like something my Hawke would say if she was in space. I ain't even mad tho There were so many times in ME1 I wanted the others to call my Shep out on his terrible driving. Glad that's in here.

I'd be less concerned if I wasn't hearing similar things in other first impressions I think being concerned is fine. It should be noted that there are howewer good first impressions on the game. Thought I'm expecting the game to be overall decent/good and not a masterpiece, so I don't have problems with people finding flaws. I'm interested/concerned on the quests in the game, since I believe they have to step up from DAI to continue making larger games in terms of areas. As I said, The only side quest I saw wasn't a fetch quest and was dialogue heavy, so there's hope.

BioWare's quest writing has never been particularly strong though, with the possible exceptions of some ME2 loyalty missions. Most of their side missions are uninspired to say the lease.

I mean it more on reducing the MMO quest type we had in inquisition. I'm not executing them to be the pinnacle of writing, but at least to have a narrative spin, most of them.

TW3 has spoiled us alas... Honestly I'd prefer they go whole hog into the character writing. Citadel DLC proved that they can get by a ridiculous and poorly done main story on the strength of their character writing

It's a universal bad. As for the rest you're entitled to your opinion but the only thing I have a problem with is the terrible resolution of the gif or whatever the fuck it is.

This review to me, kinda implies that he has some sort of grudge towards the direction of the series? It's full of anger and even levels of disgust? Such a turn of opinion compared to others that are out there that give it far more praise.

oh wow, thanks for that link I'll give it a read EDIT: Ok so I just read it. Very interesting read and good to see so many opinions, however, my fear is becoming more and more true. In one way I'm proud of myself for being correct lol but on the other hand I feel so sorry for the players. This game clearly is for me, Chris sums it up here and proves exactly my thoughts; " This is a spiritual successor to the first Mass Effect in many ways, ignoring or undoing many of the ways the original series changed in its sequels. It's an RPG with shooter elements, not a shooter with RPG elements." I adored ME1. Its the first game I played on Xbox. Finished it like jesus 15 or more times? (seriously I did). I loved ME2, yep it was different, still loved it. Never bothered with 3 because once I saw the DLC (for example the Prothean deal) it through me right off and I feared it was going to end bad, then the endings come out. But look that's another story. The point I'm trying to make here, is that Bioware has NOT hidden away from the fact that MEA is its OWN story. There is a reason why it's 600 years into the future. Then with the video releases they were showing with exploring ect clearly they wanted to bring back a ME1 feel but far more enhanced and improved. This right now has me so hyped that It's not funny because I wanted elements from ME2 and even ME3 into MEA and clearly we're getting it. So now there is 100% going to be a split reaction. Players will hate this and others will love it. Very sad that it will be divided, but I'm personally very happy that MEA is going back to it's old roots with ME1 elements. Very, VERY happy. Cannot wait till the 21st!

From what I saw the first hours of the game are generating both positive and negative opinions. I do hope the later hours lead more towards the first.

the character creator could do with a huge overhaul 1) John sounds like he's lost the love for RPGs of late - anything new, gets the codex-esque hatred it seems. 2) The first RPS preview was glowing as fuck, so this totally contradicts his own writer, which is fine I guess...but odd. 3) Here's a bro's ryder he just made for a review copy, she's pretty great I must say. omg i love that femryder!
