What's the point tho? As you can only slightly modify the existing presets so if you like the eyes of preset 1 and nose of preset 2 you can't do it.
Even the skin tone slider is weird as it only lightens or darkens the existing presets skin tone. so of the preset is really white you can't make it as dark as others even of the slider is at max.
Kinda sad how mass effect 1 that released in 2007 has options to to change the eye shape, noses, mouths from the existing presets and so much more.
Its been 10 years and its going backwards? even tho they knew the character creator was a very popular thing asked by the fans, for all the stuff that Bethesda has done wrong they actually made an incredible character creator which should have set the standard.
seems bioware didn't get the memo, no wonder they never showed off the character creator because it shouldn't even be called that.

I'm already in access and spent most of my time in the CC. I can 100% confirm that is a downgrade from DAI. For males you choose from several pre-made presets in which little can be changed. There are no beard options. No cheekbone and jaw line adjustment sliders, no eye shape options, eye brow options limited, eye color options limited and finally the worst offender is that skin tone options favor people of color more than pale people. One thing I liked about DAI was the CC which was although not perfect, good enough. MEA is a downgrade. Anyone else in access agree? Yeah, I was actually surprised how gutted the CC was. The DAI CC wasn't perfect but it was better than ME3's and you could actually make some decent-looking characters with it. I don't know what the fuck they did in ME:A to screw it up so badly. |

The beard displayed above would be the max. Stock Ryder's stubble would be the minimum. |

I have to agree, the CC is limited to even ME standars. Even Guild Wars 2 has a better one and it is limited as hell. This is maybe the most disappointing thing in the game for me, not enough to cut away my hype but it is getting close.

The CC is a very small part of the game. I don't get all the hate. If you want to make people why not just go play the SIMs? For a lot of players, it's a meaningful feature and is basically a staple of BioWare's games. To have it seem notably inferior to older titles is worth criticism. It's only a small part of the game insofar that it's basically part of the start menu, but you do have to look at the results for the entire game. |

Ugh. I've been pre-ordering Bioware for years. One of the few devs I trust that well. I didn't even mind DA2 like many people did. But I just watched the Gamespot crew being utterly depressed at how disappointing MEA is so far, including the pathetic character creator. Sad day.
