The good products of the CC seem better than the good products of the DAI CC. Moving past the BS 'make ugly Ryder' videos, there's some awesome and great to look at (and animate, actually! fits better than default somehow) Ryders out there already.
But the tool itself seems worse than DAI's.
Since the first part is all that matters to me (as I actually don't delve into making many alts), I say yes its good!
But a far cry from great. A major update to it would be very appreciated.

No, Andromeda should be judged by its content and thats it. Comparing it to other games just sets yourself up for being let down. Its not the games fault or even the dev's that your disappointed by the CC, when you build up idea of what it should be you cant appreciate it for what it is. Okay, I'll judge it purely by it's content. It fails at being a character creator because it lacks the fundamental ability to change and manipulate the facial features of the selected presets. For example, you like the eyes of one of the presets but don't like the nose? Maybe you imagine the face would look better with an impish, upturned nose? Well too bad, because you can't change it! The nose shape itself is essentially set in stone. Every single person who chooses preset 8 will have a character that basically looks identical. Every single person who chooses preset 3 will have a character that basically looks identical. And so on. The biggest deciding factor of what your character is going to look like by a wide, wide margin is which preset you choose. Not what slider settings you lovingly and painstakingly selected. It essentially fails at being a character creator at all. It's more of a "character chooser". Choose one of nine predetermined characters and change the hairstyle. Voila, you're done. QFTT And here is an illustration to the wise words about "character chooser": www.reddit.com/r/ShareYourRyders/ Pretty clones of the same faces. As an altaholic and CC lover I am crushed. P.S. "Daddy issue" with color mismatch does not help either.

Friends, don't feed the profanity-spewing trolls who have nothing more constructive to do with their lives than mock others for expecting standard features. Just report them.

While I haven't played it, a good friend of mine did, who has never played any of the previous ME games, and told me The CC was right on par with Stardew Valley. He only played two hours of the game and said he had enough. He felt like what he had played so far revolved around scanning.
My fear, which I stated in other threads, was it appeared that more emphasis was placed in the game play (combat) this time and it would come at a cost of something else not getting the attention it deserved. Maybe that something else is the CC? Not sure. From everything I have read and seen across the net today, it's not looking good and makes me glad I decided to wait on this one.

Not played this yet, but from what I can read the thing which is puzzling me is why not just use the DA:I CC if they didn't want to invest the time / money? It was perfectly serviceable.
Not being able to create my own Ryder to how I like it is a severe blow to both the first and subsequent playthroughs. A big part of the immersion is creating YOUR character, and you are able to define its look and character.
For something like Tomb raider I don't mind as I am knowingly playing a set person. This is supposed to be my Ryder, and it looks like it won't be.
Very, very disappointing if this is the case. Very disappointing.

So, let me get this straight:
You've been on here for what... months? And all you've been doing is complain about Bioware, EA, claiming everything they do is shit and no one should buy this game cause it's terrible.
But you have Origin Access so you're playing the trial version.
Yeah, sounds legit.

I actually managed to create a decent Sara with a Hispanic-ish preset, but didn't like the Scott presets so I left him as the default and figured "Meh, maybe mom was white and dad wasn't."
Well, dad didn't get the memo that we'd gone with the lightest skintone available to that preset and there's just no way I can reconcile that with pasty white Scott. I'll have to start over when I play again later and try a darker skinned Scott. Does the twin have the same options as your Ryder, does anyone know? Like, can I fix his face proportions and hair/beard so he doesn't look 35?
It's a bit of a bummer really. At the very least I figured, well if I like HER eyes and face at least I can just go in and adjust the skin tones a la DAO and mouth shapes. But nope... you get what you get, and it's eyes are probably massive.

I will say that despite the lack of options compare to DA:I or the complexity of Fallout 4"s Character Creator, I have seen some really well done Sara Ryders in the streams I've watched. I've always used the default because the old Mass Effect Games custom characters always looked bad, but I'll be making a custom Sara.
The bright red or potentially neon bluish green hair with a tatoo is going to be my go to. Knowing Fryda Wolfe's spunky personality, Sara is going to be my rogue bad ass Biotic. She's also going to bang everything

You don't get to choose anything for Alec, at least not that I saw. I'm not at home and I forget which preset I used, but my Ryder had the lightest skin tone for the "medium" skinned presets and Alec was either black or darker-Hispanic, depending on how you want to headcanon it. I would assume that lighter skinned Ryders will result in a lighter skinned Alec, but that's just going by the ones I've seen floating around in screenshots. I think there's just random presets that you get for him based on what you pick.

You have the freedom to use whatever powers you want!! There are no more rigid Paragon/Renegade choices. You have more freedom to define your Ryder's personality!! ............but you have less freedom to actually create the character you want. We didn't tell you about that until a week till release....... Thanks, Bioware!!

This doesn't make sense? Are you impaired in the head? Downgraded CC is an overall net negative. MEA should have had more or be at least on par with the CC quality of Inquisition since you know, both games are developed by the same company, using the same engine and assets... No, Andromeda should be judged by its content and thats it. Comparing it to other games just sets yourself up for being let down. Its not the games fault or even the dev's that your disappointed by the CC, when you build up idea of what it should be you cant appreciate it for what it is. Oh c'mon you can't really mean this. It's the developers job to improve with each model, not go backwards. It's better to copy paste from a previous title than to go backwards. No I'm not going to be happy about current weak CC. Especially when one dev even confirmed we would have what we had in DA:I.

Agreed completely, it's just so bad, I don't even know how they made it so much worse than DA:I.
I gave up after an hour of my trial trying to make something that worked, but man, it was just so bad lol.

"Mass Effect 3 will not have an ABC ending". It have an ABCD ending. It was an ABC and FU ending.
“Fans want to make sure that they see things resolved, they want to get some closure, a great ending. I think they’re going to get that.” (Ugh, that one is a real punch to the gut.) = Red, Green or Blue version of the exact same meaningless and confusing ending that that was so bad they had to fix it via DLC.
“[The presence of the Rachni] has huge consequences in Mass Effect 3. Even just in the final battle with the Reapers.” = A number added to war asset count.
"As the story unfolds the pieces of the puzzle will slowly emerge. Shepard has to figure out the secrets of the Reapers and how to defeat them over the course of the story." = Deus Ex Machina the first 30 minutes.

Nevermind, just went ahead to check it out.
What the heck is this poor CC? Was it implemented as an afterthought?
Wow. I have no words right now.
