So, what do think lies ahead for Mass Effect?
Do you think Bioware Montreal should continue with the franchise, now they have a game under their belts? Or should Bioware hand the next game back to the folks in Edmonton? Or maybe the franchise should go to another studio entirely?
Interested to see everyone's take on this...
Please don't just bitch about MEA or attack the devs, shouldn't need saying but can't be too careful around here. Feel free to add justified praise/criticism of course though.

I honestly think they should let Bioware Montreal make the next game. They have the experience with the Frostbite Engine in regards to Mass Effect now, so the next development cycle should be shorter. I think they can obviously see the things they need to work on for the next game that people are upset about (facial animations, CC, glitches, sidequest content and quality, etc) and you can be darn sure EA and the high-ups at Bioware will be on them about fixing these things earlier and doing a better marketing campaign next time. It's better to have people who have learned from mistakes than to say "well, you messed up. We'll let this other group do it," and then watch them "fail" again because they don't have the experience. Bioware Montreal now has something to prove for the next game, and should know intimately what to do to give the fans what they want for MEA:2. I'm not done with Andromeda yet, but I think there is so much potential for great stories and new alien races. I have no problem giving them another shot, and I think it logically makes the most sense.

Is this even a question? The story goes on, hopefully with Ryder, and I couldn't care less about the studio, just

Here's a novel idea... Why not wait for a few months worth of sales figures to come out before voting on anything?

I would like to see Andromeda 2 take place a LONG time after the first so that the Initiative would have time to settle and spread.

So after everything that has happened, you want Montreal again? You people are the biggest self-haters I've ever seen.

I say they should just keep on doing it. Sending it back to Edmonton when they have their hands full with DA4 and UIP would be a bad decision.
And a new company I assume under EA would be pointless, they don't have any other rpg guys under their banner. It's not like a decade+ ago when obsidian could work on bioware sequels.
I don't think the series is dying either but we'll have to wait and see how final sales are and whether or not ea decides on one more or not.

I love Andromeda, really any new Mass Effect game would essentially have me squealing "TAAAAAKE MY MONEY!"
If this ridiculous venom and hatred ruins Bioware or Mass Effect I will be so sad! The game is great! I'm having an amazing time playing. They don't deserve any of the shitstorm thrown at them.

I hate to disappoint you, but I'm not in charge of EA. I'm just curious to see what the gut feeling is. And it's all just a bit of fun. It's not like we're actually deciding what's going to happen, as much as I wish that were the case...

Why the rush? Why not wait on more data?

It's heavily implied at points in the game that the kett have a bigger presence outside of the heleus cluster and that the archon isn't the ultimate leader That's where it'll go next I imagine, although I still have a a couple main missions left to go so I'll see whether that's touched upon further. If EA greenlights another Mass Effect game, depends on whether sales matches their internal projections id imagine.

It's not like we're actually deciding what's going to happen, as much as I wish that were the case... Really? You wish this forum would make the decisions on what to do next? Are you mad?!?!? But anyway, I say leave it in Montreal and just get them some more/better animators, authors and maybe an actual game designer, who can be in charge of putting the pieces together in one cohesive whole. There is great potential in this game as I see it. The trick is gonna be to iron out the kinks specifically.

It depends on what went on at Montreal during development. Really only Bioware themselves and EA knows whether Montreal is capable of handling another Mass Effect game.
I'm torn between whether I'd want to see a Milky Way or Andromeda sequel. I want to say Milky Way, if just to see familiar places like the Citadel or Illium again, but how do you carry forward ME3's endings into a sequel?

Imma let you in on a secret. If sales are good, EA won't care what the fanbase says anyway. They'll say "Wow! You made us $180,000,000! Get to work on the next one!". If they are bad, they will probably not invest in a new Mass Effect game. Also, sales don't matter to fans. So if the numbers come out and MEA is a huge success, people hating on the game aren't going to say "Oh wow! I must have been wrong this whole time! The game just be really great because of sales even though I dislike it!" Fans don't care. So I think it's fine to see if people want the current studio to work on it again or a new one and why.

How could people vote for Bioware Montreal, knowing what we know now with the game's troubled development? It sounds toxic as hell over there.

Imma gonna let you in on something that's no secret at all... most of this fan base wouldn't know how to "hold their wad" for five seconds... let alone long enough to properly "romance" this game. Most people I've seen complaining about stated their intention to complain about it long ago... self-fulfilling prophecies now combined with a bit of gloating and power tripping.

Mainly because it seems like Bioware Edmonton is too busy working on the new IP so who else does EA have that can work on RPGs? I personally think Bioware Montreal can get another shot but just get rid of Mac Walters. Nothing I have seen from his work on ME3, Mass Effect: Foundation, or this game has impressed me. Get a capable creative director and dump Walters. Listen to feedback from this game and start again with a fresh vision.

This games failings certainly weren't in the areas you'll be spending a lot of time with given being a game.
