Peebee. Poor Kerri doesn't even get the option for a vote? I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. I don't get why she is excluded. Right? Keri would have gotten my vote.

Jaal is definitely a top contender for "Who's Bioware's Best Romance" and the funny thing for me is that it contains some things I never thought I'd love in an LI. One of the big ones being that Jaal has a big family that is very important to him and they will continue being important to him. I can't see a romance with him where he doesn't end up with a family of his own, in some way. I don't go for "family types" - I'm more of a loner and hearing just how big his family was (and that they all lived together) gave me a mini panic attack when he wanted to introduce Sara to them . However, I found that I absolutely loved that aspect of Angaran culture. I actually want that for my character. His romance also flows really well with Sara and entwines with the plot beautifully.

Solas, I think, is still the best single-game BioWare romance I've played. The OT Mass Effect cast have a monstrous advantage (especially Liara, Garrus, and Tali) so I'm not counting them. But Solas' giant angsty mess is pretty much the opposite of Jaal's feelsy sweetness, so at that point it comes down to personal preference. IMO Jaal's openness and sincerity is what glues most of the romance together. He means everything he says, even if it's cheesy, even if it's derivative of previous BioWare romances, even if it's not something I would usually go for. And it works. It still astonishes me that it works so damn well.

If we're just going on romances for one game, it'd definitely be Jaal for me as the #1 romance they've done.... I'm just having trouble choosing if it's better than FemShep/Vakarian and I think I'd need to see the future content before making that decision. I love Jaal's (and the Angara's) openness about feelings and not being ashamed of voicing them. I love knowing where someone stands and being honest is a major plus for me in any department. And I think Jaal's sincerity is really well executed by the voice actor. Seriously, the guy did a beautiful job with the nuances needed for the character to be properly represented and I felt everything Jaal was going through. That's at least one of the reasons it works well, I know that much.

Solas' romance is anything but, it is filled with angst, betrayal, and loss. The lack of mystery and drama in Jaal's romance is what turns it off for me. I like Sara paired with Reyes much better. But I have always favored the romances with the more morally grey characters; Morrigan, Isabella, Solas, Miranda, and now Reyes.

I got to agree, Solas is very fairy tale...classic fairy tale, not Disney. Reminds me of a lot of stories I saw/read growing up, which is what I liked about it. Not surprised to see Reyes and Jaal toping the list. Both seem really well written, if very different characters. Jaal fits the overall plot/story really well, and I like how they weaved Reyes into the story arc of Kadara. He feels plot relevent too despite less content, and Nicholas Boulton adds a certain charm.

I just spend about 20 mins trying to explain as best I could my views but ended up loosing everything. I'm going for the cliff notes here.
I didn't flirt with Jaal until the very last choice of his LM. Up until that point it was most of the friendship icons and it just naturally led to that romance. I didn't feel it was "fairy-tale" even if it may come off as a bit "destined-to-be" at times. I don't think angst and drama are needed in this relationship in this game because they already experienced their own personal dramas away from each other. They're romance works as two people who find love and happiness with each other and I find that it ties into several themes in the game quite beautifully (family, hope in despair, etc....). Solas' romance, to me, had not been well executed. (Inquisition, itself, wasn't well executed, to me.) I felt some of the scenes were too.... idk, soap opera-y? I prefer my Lady Trevelyan's relationship with him and I felt it could've made for an interesting romance 'lite' for the game. (Though I don't want Bioware to change anything. It's fine as is.) The way it is now lends itself quite well to a "maybe these two could've ended up together if circumstances had been different" and I think that, in-turn, works well with Solas' character and his personal story.

Wow, Reyes is currently first in the poll. That's surprising, given the amount of screentime he has. I wonder if BioWare expected him to become such a popular character?
That said, Reyes is my pick as well. His romance felt very natural and, uh... my Ryder likes bad boys.

I think the romance felt natural as well, so he is my canon choice. To bad is so short.

Reyes. Interesting character, and his romance with Ryder felt so much more natural; they had great chemistry right from the start! It also helped that Ryder was giving as good as she got in the flirt department and didn't behave like a headless chicken while fumbling her way through awkward pick-up line after awkward pick-up line.

Reyes 1000000%. I'm super hooked, what a brilliantly well written character and superb va. All combined into one irresistible package for my Kensa Ryder. The conversation flow is so natural and I alternately laughed and squeeeed at my TV at every single interaction they had. I love characters with a hefty dash of complex and Reyes comes in a close second to Cullen. Needless to say at certain points in the romance the links back to DAI and my favourite ex Templar got me soooo bad. Combine with a tall dark and handsome smuggler....well.....
Brilliantly done BioWare just give us more dammit!

I have gone on at length on the Cullen thread over the years on how well done his romance and character arc are, sigh, so I won't here. Reyes though.....let's just say I'm more than happy for my Ryder to be thoroughly distracted

I voted for Liam. I've always loved the friends-to-lovers trope (Garrus was always my favorite Bioware romance) and Liam's definitely delivers. Really well. (Minus Shepard's creepy sexual harassment flirts. ) The romance unfolded naturally and felt sweet but realistic. It was such a breath of fresh air after all the melodrama, betrayals and emotional roller-coasters... and tragic tales and dudes with issues so prevalent among Bioware's male LIs (not to say I don't love a bunch of them anyway but... jeez, enough already). And I actually liked the couch scene - my Sara had never flirted with him up to that point so the moment was really surprising and lovely. Legit gave me butterflies. Helps that I really loved the character. I suppose I can see how he wouldn't click for some people but I enjoyed bringing him everywhere with me. His interactions with my Sara were great. I love how supportive he was, right from the beginning. Where she's going through so much and kind of floundering to find her place, but he's totally got her back and believes in her. I wasn't sure if I'd go for Jaal or him that first playthrough but those moments early in the game really sealed it for me that Liam was her guy. While I love Jaal (he might even be my favorite squadmate - maybe more so than Liam even) he just didn't click for me romance-wise. I tried a couple of his flirts just to see and - yeah, no. They seemed really awkward and out of character for my Sara. I'll make a character just for Jaal at some point but for this one I was like 'what the hell are these words she's saying!?' *reloads save* On my second playthrough now and I'm going for Reyes. I though he'd be that guy I'd get around to romancing 'at some point...' but like so many in this thread he really surprised me. He's such a great character. Though my first Sara never flirted with him (an opted to punch him as a distraction ) his friendship arc was pretty cool. Haven't gone to Kadara yet, but I'm really looking forward to how his romance plays out.

I honestly don't get what people see in Reyes. I mean he is charming but also manipulative, by the end of his arch I still liked him but don't trust him enough to romance him.
Personally, after learning how much Ryder means to her during her romance, I don't know how I'll pass up Peebee during my next playthrough. Like I want that trophy, but also, I love her.
