Before I could alt-tab normally, after this patch the game goes into windowed mode if I do that. Only reapplying settings fixes it. Until I alt-tab again. Am I missing something? Yeah, extreemly annoying.  |

I had some problems launching even after installing the latest nvidia drivers but now it runs OK. Still it took several minutes to start after the patch not sure why this is AMD FX6300 CPU + geforce 970

Game launches into a tiny black window. Making the game not work sure was one way to "fix" the issues. 10/10 would DL patch again :3

So... the classic Bioware "break more than fix" patch? deleting the "patch" folder might resolve the issue. I'm installing now and hoping for the best. Apparently Addison's face is not tired anymore. EDIT: Works fine for me, had to install the new AMD display driver before that though.

Actually, for a PC launch Andromeda was pretty good. I haven't seen anything on PC-specific problems. Whoever did the PC "port" did a good job.
Until this patch, apparently.

Ok so I will be sure to copy game install to other drive for backup when I get home. One reason I prefer to patch my games myself and have actual copies of patches. Makes fixing things much easier. Exactly!!!! For years now, I am preaching that Origin, Steam and all the other online portals out there should allow us to choose which version of the software we want to install or give us a rollback option or something. Quite often, I encounter issues with patches or mods, that won't run on the latest version or stuff like that. GoG are the only ones I know who's platform allows to download the intial release version of a game and all patches for it separately. |

I would go into the documents/bioware/mass effect andromeda/ folder and try moving all of those folders and their files on to the desktop. Launch the game and move them back afterwards. This will obviously make it seem like your saves are gone while the folders are away, but in case there's some config files in there somewhere that might affect whether your game boots properly. This actually worked (I deleted everything but the save folders). It seems the patch broke my settings (I suspect the settings file got broken somehow by the patch since that's the only other real file there). Game loaded fine, thanks for the tip. Though now I have a considerable annoyance that even with Subtitles turned off, they show up no matter what.. (I hate subtitles, i find them distracting)... why must they break such a goddamn simple feature? Now I'll be waiting weeks before they fix the damn subtitles being stuck on.. ugh. Also, not a fan of those hideous new "NUM1, NUM2, NUM3" bloody texts next to each dialogue choice, makes the UI look ugly and like it's from an alpha stage of the game or something. You may want to add (FIXED) to the thread title and let people know what fixed it in the OP. Often, people only read the OP and don't bother reading through the rest of the thread. |

AWRIGHTS GUYS, found a solution to the black screen atleast it worked for me. I went to the andromedas installation folder and deleted whole patch folder, then went to origin and put the game on repair and after repair it worked.(origin/mass effect andromeda/patch)
Try it out, hope it works for you as well

Ok there seems to be multiple problem that can cause a failure to launch.
1) Missing dll:
Go into the game directory under installer/vc, re-install all the vc
2) Click play, game goes to cloud sync and then does not start:
no solution yet.
3) Click play, black screen:
Delete "MassEffectAndromea.exe_ and then repair with origin
Other possible fix reported on EA support thread:
Go offline on Origin, launch the game and then go back online.
Run as admin from the game directory
I have the Cloud sync then nothing problem. So far I have tried all the above with no luck.

Well - I installed the patch about 50 minutes ago, and after starting the game everything runs fine (I am on a PC with i5-3570, 16GB 1868MHz memory, MSI GTX970 Gaming). The changes in the faces are subtle, but "do the trick" very well. The other improvements (like "squad mates dropping down" bug when leaving the Nomad and more), are noticeable too. Nice patch so far.
At first I did not got an connection. That did not bothered me too much, because I do no multiplayer. However, a few minutes ago I restarted the game, and have been connected without any trouble. Of course I don't know if multiplayer functions. As said - The multiplayer servers will be off-line for a few hours (possibly because the patches generate a lot of traffic).
Everything seems to function well as far as I can see. I did noticed that the numpad numbers are displayed in the conversation "wheel", and I do not like that very much. I have not yet tried the above trick of renaming the save folder and re-configure everything again (will take about 5 minutes). So that's what I going to do now, and I will report back here if that works.

Actually after the patch my custom male Ryder looks like he is constantly high o_O maybe it was also pre-patch but the flashlight eyes made it less noticeable...

Wouldn't be a Bioware patch if it didn't break something for each fix, now would it?
Game runs fine for me, but I get the same problem as others with the conversation wheel being all busted. Going to try Giladean's solution as soon as I can.
