Out of curiosity does anyone really have an issue with the idea of more variations in meshes? Not in soldiers/active people obviously but a fat shopkeeper or a really skinny tech or something? Or is this thread just to score points before quietly segueing into a circle jerk? I dunno. How many pages were in that Breast Size Thread?

Maybe, but he is not wrong. If we are going to have ugly people in the game why not fat people too? The codex in the original trilogy mentions how the prevalence of gene therapy among humans has eliminated obesity. Right, and yet we are perfectly fine with seeing ugly or even average looking people... with the lengths people - especially woman - go to be beautiful even today? Quite selective, this vision of the future...

By the time of ME, science has advanced sufficiently that things like obesity and vision issues have been able to be corrected.
Also, it prevents BW from having to create more than one model.

Maybe, but he is not wrong. If we are going to have ugly people in the game why not fat people too? Indeed. If you going to pander to one minority why not pander to all minorities? Who judges if one minority is more deserving of representation then another? >American fat people >minority LMAO

There were also no fat people in the other mass effect games. Also not in dragon age, if I remember correctly. Guess bioware really hates fat people. Also people in polygamous relationships by the way. Still waiting on my interspecies Harem. It's a cruel world we live in... There were overweight ppl in Mass Effect games. Remember that C-Sec guy in one of Citadel wards in ME1? Anderson was also somewhat crafty. I am pretty sure there were more, so sorry but you argument is invalid. DAMMIT! Does that also mean I'm not getting my fivesome with a turian, an asari, a krogan and a salarian wearing a top hat?

Same place they are in almost every other game, and the same place as children and other body types. Left out because of budget and technical issues. Unfortunate fact.

Or is this thread just to score points before quietly segueing into a circle jerk? Seeing how much rage even a single line of dialogue can get that it sends BW to a lenght of making an official public apology, I think that lack of representation and inclusion of people of different body proportions, is a no small issue, and clearly deserves at least same kind of attention that other demographics receive.

Of course, but it's more fun to speculate on "ulterior motives"... leo3abp: You mean you expect some form of ethical consistency? In 2017? From BioWare? Wat!? MADNESS!

Why does everyone have to be represented in one game, anyway? Especially when one takes up so many resources? When will we draw the line? There's room for the ENTIRE industry to represent everyone. God, if this keeps up they'll end up spending more time and resources representing everyone than actually making a good game. I'd rather they spend their time on fixing the technical mess and adding story driven DLC. BioWare can already be commended for representing some who hardly get represented at all - can't we just give them that and ask for more representation elsewhere?

This is actually BW own policy, because last time I remember they did not said anywhere that they will exclusively only represent straight and lgbtq<whatever other letters must go there> of athletic proportions. Overweight people are people too, and ironically - they also relatively underrepresented in games dominated by athletic and slim looking characters.

I think the therm you are looking for is selective diversity, which is essentially just another form of bigotry... ...to use all those great buzzwords.

Someone like Lloyd from DAO who owned the tavern in Redcliffe? I like the guy. Of course I always forced him to fight with the militia against the undead. Sometimes he survived. Other times he didn't. Maybe the next game will feature overweight folks. Don't know

except that there WERE overweight people in original trilogy. You need to refresh your memory. Come on, they weren't that many... I don't remember the c-sec guy but Anderson, yhea, he had a belly. Not someone I would call fat, but not an olympics swimmer either. But there are still, following the hysterics logic, two major points: 1. While Anderson sure snacked a few nachos in his day, he could not really be counted as what we in good ol Germany classify as a Bordsteinpanzer - or sidewalktank for the uninitiated. I guess the expression is colorful enough? There were no morbidly obese people on the citadel and, considering the possible applications of mass effect fields, they would even be able to move freely and unhindered. 2. Following the debacle of the sole two gay guys in MEA (one of whom belongs to the coolest people in the initiative, looking at you Gil, my poker playing bro), we have learned that having a 'few' people of a certain minority/kink/body image/whateverthefuckyouwanttocallit is clearly not enough and a form of vile discrimination on its own. So, my point still stands, albeit slightly corrected: There were not enough fatties in the OT.

There are no overweight people in Andromeda. All people have weight removed or added while in stasis during the 600 year sleep over.

Simple: this is the future and the problem of obesity has been solved; people just take tablets to not be fat.
Of course that doesn't really answer it, because if there were a pill to stop obesity, there would still be some people who chose to look fat as a lifestyle choice (I guess).
