My friends always tease me about how long I spend fiddling around on character creators in RPGs.
But this feature is really important to me, because in order for me to be fully immersed in a game then I need to be happy with the character I am playing.
I can safely (and sadly) say that Andromeda is the first character creator I have used where it was impossible for me to create a character that didn't look like they had been smacked around with the ugly stick at birth...

I really liked that for the first time I could make an ethnic character that didn't look like a white person painted brown. I love my Asian Sara. I would prefer more options for brows, lips, noses and eyes and the ability to tweak a character after starting the game. Also, the ability to look at the character from different angles in the CC. (From above, for example.) The hair needs to be less saturated -- it looks like paint. Inquisitions's CC was pretty flexible but didn't allow the ability to share face codes. This time we can share faces but have limited options. The face sharing site is not very useful because the faces are small and shown only from the front. Also we can't sort by hair color or preset. And the lighting is terrible.

You should include the entirety of Elder Scrolls titles because even Skyrim is a serious case of the hideous only slightly alleviated by heavy modding.

You should include the entirety of Elder Scrolls titles because even Skyrim is a serious case of the hideous only slightly alleviated by heavy modding. I never had much issue with Skyrim's CC out of the box. You could make some fairly decent looking characters with it or some really horrific looking ones too. True, mod'ing allows you to make outright beautiful characters but I don't need all that just to get into playing the game. Something on level with Oblivion or MEA though can make it difficult to get into it, especially in a game like ME where you spend so much time looking directly at your character's face in dialogue and cut scenes. At least for me.

In Skyrim, you could make some pretty decent looking human and a couple other races' characters. But the elves were always fugly without mods. Dirty, wrinkled skin galore!
The biggest problem in MEA's CC is that you can't choose the different eye shapes, eyebrows, nose shape, and mouth shape between the presets. Unlocking that function would eliminate 80% of the complaints.
Dear god, Oblivion's CC was awful.

Yeah, the CC is not up to par with Inquisition's and I'm only at peace with it because I got my Ryder to look decent. Not how I wanted, but for my first non canon play through okay. I really hope they can improve it without making more bugs and glitches. If it's tied into Papa Ryder, it's gonna be hard to change. Unless they let me override by saying "I'm adopted" and just put in default Alec and skip the look like the dad thing altogether. I'm guessing that's why its this limited.

I can't even be cute about this: it's absolute horseshit. They could have and should have just used the one from DAI. You know, that game that came out 3 years ago? Everyone bitched about the lack of hair options and hair colors in the DA:I CC and that is what BioWare seemed to think everyone wanted was just more hair options and colors, give the people what they want and they still hate it. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

To be fair, most people I've seen talk about it seemed pretty happy with the DA:I cc other than hairstyles; I'm pretty sure absolutely nobody wanted them to add hair and take away almost all other choices. I can't get into this game because I am waiting for CC modding to start up, it really sucks.

You don't think if one feature sticks out as being exceptionally bad people will just.. you know... not like it? Like say, if you try to use female preset head 3 you end up looking like a missbehaven sack of potatoes in a wig, even if the wig is really nice(it isn't) you won't be happy with the charecter? "They replaced the shitburger with a burger between 2 buns of shit and they still don't like it! Dammed if you do, damned if you don't!"

...They didn't even add that many hairstyles, or colors, or improve on the DAI hairstyles. There's only a handful of hair options. 90% of the colors make the hair look like lumps of clay. And the blond isn't even close to actual blond. Kinda looks like opaque piss, really.

I don't remember DAI, think I played about an hour of that game, so I dunno, maybe MEA's hairs are a big step up. I still wouldn't call them 'great'. Aside from the ponytail and the really short ones they all look like oddly shaped helmets.

Since I generally suck at the character creation anyway (no matter how good or bad it is) it's not big deal for me, but I do understand why people are upset. Like I said there were probably too many threads (not just at the old BSN and here, but everywhere else) just about hair and not enough about other issues with the DA:I CC like a clunky UI when it came to eye color and the bad lighting and it being literally set in the Fade with all that debris floating around. Those were bigger issues for me than how many haircuts I had.

I think it's lacking some options. Why can't we change the shape of the nose for example, once we have selected a face? Why can we only change it's size/length? Same with eyes and eyebrows. Why only eye position but not size and shape of the eyes? Why only eyebrow position but not type and colour?
I think we need at least the following additiona options:
- eye size - eye shape - nose shape - eyebrow colour - eyebrow type/form - skin type (smooth/wrinkles) - ear size

I'm among those unhappy with character creation in this game.
First impressions from the 10-hour trial: I didn't want to spent a lot of time, but for some reason I decided to have a look at the options rather than just go with the default. Went through the male presets. Not impressed with any of them, but went for the most "more badass than goofy-looking". Found a preset. I don't think I changed anything besides hair and possibly tattoos. Entering the game, aaaaaaand... he no longer looks more badass than goofy. Doh. But I just kept going.
Second playthrough, Asian female. Worked fine. Lucked out? She's part of a preset clone army, but at least her animations didn't bother me as much. Were I too used to them by then?
Third playthrough, grabbed someone else's female Ryder. She looks fantastic in some scenes, but I was back to really disliking facial animations. What good is an attractive CC character if they break down in-game?
Fourth playthrough, finally I'm like whatever, default male Ryder it is. He looks quite decent, but clean-shaven would have been better than the terrible beard (which is still better than facial hair the CC can deliver, more's the pity).
DA:I? I was actually fairly content with the CC. Played dwarves, elves, qunari and a human, creating characters I didn't mind looking at.

It's why I wont continue with my play though until they add new options, as was stated they would. Unless they add some kind of Kiosk to get a make-over like you can on The Old Republic, I will wait to play the main game, sadly. Utterly horrible and limited options in my opinion. VERY lacking.
