Realistically, how much can be done to fix it? Can they actually cut it out and replace it with Inquisitions? Or maybe add ways to swap components like R'Shara says? What is the most we can hope for here? It all comes down to how much time and money BW/EA want to put into fixing it. From a technical standpoint they can do whatever they want, chop the face scans up, add systems to the CC to let you swap them, whatever. I would guess that is well beyond the money/resources they are going to be able to devote to it though. There isn't any really payoff for them to do so though unless they make it a CC DLC. Maybe they will add some new presets along with more skin and hair colors, maybe a few new makeup options. That is kinda my pie in the sky hopes at the moment anyway. About "chopping down" presets - I was under impression it's not possible, what's done is done and at the very best we can expect more presets but more likely just dome new texture (allowing true white skin, for example). However, on Nexus there are plenty NPCs clearly generated with the same presets we use in CC, but with mixed features. Actually, to be precise, note about "uncut-able" presets was made in discussion of eyebrows only ("we can not change that [brows shape] because the way we scanned faces"). May be there is a chance for swapping noses and mouths?

Meh, that's BS. Changing eyebrows, eyes, nose and lips is perfectly possible with face scans if you do them early on. Probably not possible now, since it'd require reworking them. But if they'd done it right at the beginning, it would have been easy.

Yeah the face scans are one piece but anyone could convert them and open them up in Blender or another 3D program and chop that mesh into pieces. Of course BW would need to program the CC to allow swapping and doing so I doubt would give the results people want anyway. So while technically feasible I don't think they would ever do it.

Chopping faces into individual, interchangable parts is actually the kind of change that I would like to see. You know, this is - in theory - a small change that would drastically improve the variety of characters you can make. I'm extremely picky when it comes to characters, I think I've spent around 30 hours in CC alone. After tweaking all presets I came to conclusion that I would be able to make a perfect character if I had the ability to swap some things between presets. Eyes shape, eyebrows shape, nose shape and lips shape. And complexion - DEFINITELY. An ability to change whole face shape would also be nice, though that would probably require more work. And I don't even need any new resources - just the ones from current presets are enough. Just give me an ability to pick eyes from this preset, nose from that one + complexion from that one. Change eyebrows and you have original character. The amount of possibilites this creates is crazy.
Add this and you can make A LOT of different characters. Personally I don't even see any different way of fixing CC. This is the only way. I don't know how they will do it but if they won't add an ability to change individual parts of the face then noone will consider CC fixed. I really don't want to see just few new hairstyles + maybe 1 or 2 more presets. That wouldn't fix anything.

to be fair that's a problem with probably every CC out ther you have to allow for some limitations as games can't account for every possible look out there. I remember when I tried to make a character that looked like someone from the X factor once. Igot the face mostly right except for the eyye as there wasn't an option for the eyes that I wanted so ended up having to go with something else it's just the way of CC's unfortunately we can only use what we're given and rty to make the best of it that's the challenge. Please tell me you tried to make Simon Cowell in a CC no I didn't it was one of the contestants actually and it was in the DAI CC not the MEA one.

I just don't think they will sink that much effort into it. I would love to be proven wrong, but I imagine that would be a lot of money and man hours to fix something they aren't going to get any return on. I think they'll add a few cosmetic options and call it a day hoping that appeases a few people. At the most maybe they will give us a handful of new presets that aren't currently available in the game if they already have the assets ready.

Frankly, me neither. I mean, I believe that the only way to fix CC and satisfy people is to chop faces into interchangable parts. Most of the CC hate comes from the fact that people cannot create unique characters. The only reasonable way of fixing it is adding the ability to mix shapes of eyes, nose, brows and lips. On the other hand, as you said, it takes a lot of effort and basically turns the current CC upside down. I just don't know if it's worth it for them. After all, probably the main audience who complained about CC already finished the game anyway

So to summarize, these are the options that people want to see to improve the character creator. All of them would be great, but we're probably going to get a mix of some of them. This is other than the generic More Hair/beard/make up options that we want. 1. Best choice: Ability to switch eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth between presets. 2. Add more sliders. Specifically Brow Arch Brow Outer up/down Brow Inner up/down Brow Length Eye Size Eye Tilt Eye Outer up/down Eye Inner up/down Eyelid Crease (for an Asian/Caucasian look) Eye Fold (for an Asian/Caucasian look) Nose Bump Nose Bump Height Nostril Size Nostril Height Cheek Hollow Cheek Forward/Back Upper Lip thickness Lower Lip thickness Upper Lip width Lower Lip width Mouth Corner tilt Mouth Curve Mandible Width Mandible Depth Chin Cleft/Point Freckles
3. Add more presets. Such as those from MP, and a few more. And for god's sakes, learn about transparency maps for hair.

There's some tweaks I'd like to make with my Ryders, but even just being able to have different brows and noses and the like to choose from would make a big difference.

It wasn't the ONLY reason, but the CC was one of the TOP reasons I waited an extra week to buy ME:A. That way, I bought it used with a trade-in for 25 bucks. The CC looked so bad there was no way I was gonna pay 60 dollars for ME:A. What were they thinking??

Easy solutions for BW, give us some of the already existing assets for use as presets. The MP Female AdeptThe pre-Day 1 Sara presetTwo different concept Cora Presetsthat were cut from the game.Match them up with some new Scott presets from other cut assets or MP faces and match them all to default Alec. Easy. Throw in a few new skin tones for lighter complexions and if they are feeling really gracious add some new hairstyles as well (at least one of those Cora assets already has a haristyle not seen in game). These few small additions alone would make at least me happy, and I imagine quite a few others as well.

Better, but it'd still be annoying, honestly. Yeah, it would still be little more than a Preset Selector instead of a true Character Creator. However if they already have assets modeled and rigged for animations it would be a pretty small investment to get them into the game. Far less than building new options from scratch or programming more variables and sliders into the current CC.

Yeah. I'm about 90% sure that's what they're going to go with. I'm kinda anticipating disappointment lol. Wish I was that confident. I'm really expecting the worst here. If they are going to go with a minimal effort approach adding a few new existing presets seems like a good compromise. I would be thrilled though if they went above and beyond that and seriously overhauled the CC. I just don't expect it.

I think the most important switchable part of the face is the nose. Different eyeshapes and mouthshapes and brows make a difference, but the nose is really where faces diverge and become distinct. So even if they don't give us complete control over customization, I hope they at least give us swappable noses.
unrelated: Something that's an issue with the character creator for me (that doesn't become apparent until you play the game) is that freaky skull tattoo because it doesn't make any sense in the game. Given our personality options, why exactly is it there? I would love to use it for a renegade-ish character and its very presence implied that I could roleplay one. But the Ryder we get is such a lighthearted and/or superprofessional character and I just could not see it fitting any gameplay, except for a few narrative actions and decisions, and I guess when he/she calls people assholes. If I had chosen it for first playthrough, I would have had to go back and completely remake my character because of the disconnect. Weird decision.

Someone might have mentioned it earlier but there is a mod for making the skin paler. www.nexusmods.com/masseffectandromeda/mods/109Also there is masseffectarchives.com/en_US/ where you can click and install a custom Ryder for a new game. This website also shows how many Ryders look very similar. I think they dropped the ball with the CC. Coming from Fallout 4 the options you get are minimal. And Femryder is so short!
