So I don't get how Cora is some SJW conspiracy to foil the male gaze.


Hell, her entire sex scene IS MALE GAZE. The camera constantly pans to her porn star ass, Scott caresses it, then she gets naked and we get more shots at that perfectly sculpted ass, and then it pans up to her naked, also fairly conventionally attractive body.

So please explain to me how Cora is Bioware spitting in the eye of straight fans.

In Mass Effect Andromeda, straight Scott Ryder had by far the greatest amount of romanceable squadmates, the greatest amount of HUMANOID romanceable squadmates, and attarctive options to boot.

Straight women had the hideous raver wannabe that is Liam, and an NPC made with character creator (Reyes). Female love interests had different body types. All the men in Andromeda have the exact same copy paste body type with clothes that aren't even flattering to their bodies.

You could make an argument about Cassandra Penteghast but Cassandra has always been a tomboy, and you had Josephine as a more stereotypically feminine romance.

You did call her 'butch' though, which is like 50% of his post.

Her face has been hit with the ugly stick. And she walked like Vince McMahon before Bioware fixed that. She's always got this stern, angry look on her face as well. I doubt many guys wanna bang a drill sergeant and then be forced to drop and give her 20 afterwards for using poor form.

Congrats, you used the one face and hair template everyone else is using to make a Ryder than doesn't look like a mouth breathing clown. I've seen this specific Ryder dozens of times already.

Yeah, there's no denying the CC is limited as all hell. And I say that as someone who (before playing the game) thought it didn't look too bad from the pre-release footage. Once I got my hands on it, I quickly changed my mind, and it's DEFINITELY one of the weakest points of ME:A, in my opinion.

You can fairly easily make a decent looking female Ryder, from presets 1, 5, 8 and 9, and I've seen a few preset 3's that did a DAMN good job considering the preset wasn't...well, the greatest. Preset 9 is a weird one. You can make decent looking Ryders from it, but every one I tried wound up animating terribly, and I mean worse that DefaultSara, in my opinion.

Yes we do. We love Bioware in our own way. Some are more forgiving, some are more critical, but ultimately... Bioware is the source of three of my beloved franchises. Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Fallout. Yes, Fallout... it was done under Black Isle, a subsidiary of west coast Bioware hires. Saddest day to see that close.

I just have to say this article is amazing to me, well-thought out points and I feel it conveys correctly the problems Andromeda had. I hope the devs (I'm sure they have) have seen this. Better than I could have said myself!!!
