Even if the machine does rebel against me, it would be worth the price to live without the issues I currently have for a little bit then to continue living with them. Better to burn bright and go out with a flash then have the flame slowly simmer down. To each their own, Doc. See my above post. I am in severe pain every second of every day, on a good day. Not to mention what hell my mental illness likes to inflict. I would rather live a day like that, than another twenty years with that awful thing in my head.

You know, Ryder's a unique case, because the connection to SAM was not meant to be permanent. If something like the SAM implant existed and assuming you managed to get through your day without having your neural physiology fused with it, you could probably disconnect it once its work is done.

Slow for one life but a drop in the ocean for our species. Better it's guided by our hands than we rush to leave ourselves at the mercy of a machine. a machine built by humans. which for some reason people think will rebel, cause "created rebel against their creators" or some such last i checked, Humans arent plagued by children killing their parentsYou're talking exactly like every dude who has made a rogue AI in fiction. We have millennia of instinct and bonds forged from birth. Despite what every keyboard misanthrope would have you believe humans are very adverse to killing each other in general. Most people in the world will go their entire lives never killing another member of our species. Killing other members of our species can literally break our psyche. Machines do not have such restrictions beyond lines of programmed code. Code can be changed and exploited. If you make an AI smarter than the person who placed the restrictions on it, it'll be feasibly able to learn to rewrite it's own code as it see fit. Sentience is a factor with too many variables and possible outcomes for any programmer to guarantee safety.

If something like the SAM implant existed and assuming you managed to get through your day without having your neural physiology fused with it, you could probably disconnect it once its work is done. If that were possible, and after countless tests on volunteers, I might consider it. For now, no to the sam thing.

I enjoy my privacy far too much to deal with SAM.
Still, the countless tasks SAM could help me with would be a blessing. Trust wouldn't be an issue that came to mind.

Probably not. However SAM and Alec has at least made me consider the possibility instead of rejecting it out of hand. Might be nice having an AI in my head.

I'm a techno-optimist. Always have been. And IRL research on artificial intelligence is more along the lines of SAM and Alec than the geth. AI-human symbiosis. There have been a couple studies on how humans respond to robots; especially toward the cute ones, we react with curiosity and warmth rather than the fearmongering presented in most sci-fi. So hell yeah, get me a SAM! Sure, he's no Jibo or Cozmo for cuteness, but he is much more intelligent.

You are biased against SAM You forced yourself to finish which probably means you didn't critically examine things. And since i am on Playthrough 2 and asked sam whose in charge...he said Ryder...i know Iakus is wrong and it's not my opinion.

SAM actually seems to do most of the heavy lifting in the game. All Ryder has to do is get SAM to the right location. this is factually incorrect. Who does all the translation? Who activates the Remnant machinery? Who turns Ryder into a super-soldier to fight armies of kett and Remnant? Who stops and starts Ryder's heart at need? (for that matter, keeps Ryder alive at all?) Ryder is basically a taxi service for SAM. A portable node.

I liken SAM to steroids baseball players take. Give steroids to a .173 hitter and he MAY bat .190. But give steroids to a .300 hitter and he'll probably bat .350 and add 10-20 homeruns to his stats
