Yep, the writers of Andromeda either ignore or rewrite any and all Mass Effect Universe lore that disagrees with how they want the game to play out.

Players will always be more attuned and aware of these things. Than the writers who are just doing it for a job. More or less don't care about the actual universe they are helping to create. It's common among tv shows as well where fans keep track of the history as if it's our own.


You will probably find that most are probably not even gamers. All we can do is just find a way to make it work for us. Although sometimes it's really hard to stretch it I.E the kid in the fridge from fallout 4......

Oh come on, it was perfectly explained a dozen of times already. They interact with other species and some of them pick up their pronouns. Like if we'd met Space Ants right now, some people would surely start to identify themselves as drones/queens/kings. And don't even try to tell me that you wouldn't put such person in charge of human culture center.

The Asari are mono-gendered aliens, presumably with their own language, where the existence of one-to-one equivalents for certain concepts is gonna be a crapshoot at best.

Until the writers provide a comprehensive Asari dictionary, they can get away with saying whatever the hell they want, as long as it doesn't conflict with earlier info.

And having different gender pronouns doesn't mean they HAVE to have a word for "patriarch". We don't know what the other Asari pronouns ARE, or what life is like for the individuals who identify with those labels.

Explaining it as a way the asari have melded with the other species, or a difference of opinion or whatever is essentially bullshit.6
The real reason is BioWare trying to show the world, and all the special snowflakes, that they're super sensitive to the latest Tumblr zeitgeist. The end.

I was thinking about this vs the SJW-ness of games these days in general the other day.
Man, what a strong and memorable little slice of a side-story this was and it was feminist without catering to a bandwagon. I dunno if it was Mac who wrote this or not (more proof if true that he should've remained Senior) but this is actually a feminist plot with a "strong female protagonist" Aria that takes a stab at the social customs and male dominance, the patriarchy, we're used to and it does it all by propelling the Mass Effect lore and highlighting how beautifully alien the world is, as it should be.

Now, looking at the pronoun conversation or the "no bigots allowed" bullcrap that doesn't at all feel like something that takes advantage of being "Mass Effect". Instead it feels forced down on it and takes away the sense of how real the world is as a fictional universe. BioWare, you got work to do. Now start firing your SJW idiot writers that you hired. They mean well but they're idiots.

I actually followed Ms. Maggs on Twitter for a time trying to convince myself that she wasn't as bad as that "virtual rape GTA" video made her seem to be... but three weeks later and I unfollowed the shit out of her. God damn it, some people's brains apparently are that one-sided. Every single tweet or retweet (we're talking 20 a day) is something to do with promoting women regardless of context. "Hey did you know GotG2 is gonna suck? It's because the uncredited writer of GotG1 was a WOMAN!", "Tomorrow I'm gonna talk about fangirls getting into the gaming industry!", "OMG Battlefront 2 has a PoC woman? I'm IN!". Yeah, because as a developer everything has to be a soapbox for your political agenda, right? Fucking idiots.

EDIT: Maybe the same thing could be said to some of the recent staff members hired at BioWare? Mass Effect used to be its own little thing. Then BioWare became increasingly progressive and bastardized the shit out of it.

Its literally worse than Vetra speaking in Latin and PeeBee saying her name stands for peanut butter.

The Asari acronym would likely not even sound like P or B and the translation for Peanut Butter might be something like "Cano'fworms Ope'nup Onim"

So having her name be PeeBee is even bad. Worse if its Peanut Butter.

It's because they think that their job is a mic on a stage. I mean, it is. But that's not to say that they can just say whatever they want to and then produce shit results. Produce good games and then start talking shit. It's not the other way around.

It would be nice if LGBT diversity was treated naturally instead of lecturing the player at every opportunity. That Iron Bull conversation still makes me mad
