For me, I just don't like any characters can be changed willy nilly. In real life, I ` ve been with both genders so I would know how awful it is to be judged like that. It is jut that I am annoyed with Biowares inconsistency sometimes. My Ryder loves Jaal more than herself so she would never care about past experiences or whatever. Tbh, bisexual Angara makes more sense lorewise because of their expresssiveness and the feelings. But now, if he says anything about guys it will seem like he hid it from her.Where in my canon, Jaal was an open book. Ladyconsular and company are thinking that maybe they will play the card of Jaal not having same sex previous experiences before Scott. This way they could avoid a AndersxKarl scenario when you as Female Hawke didn't know Anders and Karl were more than friends if you romance him meanwhile romancing him as MaleHawke Anders tells you. Ooooooh I see. That makes sense. Seems much more logical to go that direction.

It worries me the whole idea of "jaal is not going to be the same" from some women implying a bisexual man can "taint" their love. Wouldn't be fuckup if we had judged Jaal for having so many girlfriends and sexual partners before you? Wouldn't be fuckup if Jaal had judged you for having an affair with Peebee, Reyes and that reporter BEFORE him? It worries me because this is heavily connected with real life. Past sexual experiences with other people are only that: past experiences. Straight, bi or gay. The relationship is only you and him/her, don't put more people into your bed out of nowhere (unless both of you like that kind of thing). Oh, and my message to some straight girls preocupied with this, in game playing Sara you can simply pretend it's not there. But think about it, you are missing the point: NOW YOU HAVE MORE THINGS IN COMMON WITH JAAL!!!! I finished the game a couple of days ago, after 85 tiring hours. I just cannot bring myself to play it again .I`m done. I am just waiting for DLC at this point. I have a hard time doing multiple playthroughs of games as is, because I always have limited time and a huge backlog. The next time I will do a full MEA playthrough is years away. I MAY try to modify my Ryder appearance but she has grown on me and I would feel weird if I changed her too much. Also, bi Jaal? Why not make him bi from the get-go? I romances him and I grew very attached to him, it will feel very weird to make change his personality like that. Until the very last scene, I felt my Ryder knew Jaal very well because he truly opened his heart and now it will feel like he hid a part of himself from my Ryder. Before anyone tries to call me biased...First off, I am not. Secondly, it works both ways. I wouldn` t want the gay characters to be changed in a patch. Anyway, sorry I if this seems like complaining. Enjoy the patch guys, at least we got one

I finished the game yesterday. 85 hours of gameplay.Probably a 100 visits to the Vortex. Nothing ever happened.... Just a human woman on the stage doing nothing. ...Or just an empty stage.

I made sure to make all the positive-ish dialog choices when it came to Alec. I liked the guy and I would have liked if we had more time with him to explore our Ryders relationship with him.

All of this is brilliant stuff ,no doubt. I have always been a fan of the IT and I remember waiting months or years between each Choose Wisely episode...but as brilliant and intriguing as it is ,Bioware is not.Sadly.

And what it is shapes the perception of what Mass Effect as a whole is. ... because people won't stop bringing it up to the forefront. A case in point... whenever a thread on this topic starts to die here, another two are immediately started... sometimes by the same OPs. Some of them word the question just a hair's breath differently eachc time, but always boiling down to the same thing. This one starts with a statement that I'm quite sure the OP knew was an utter lie. Many of the "fans" simply have never moved on... You've stated yourself that you simply cannot move on. It's impeding what Mass Effect could be... because they don't want to let it be anything different. They revel in putting Bioware into a "box" - giving them the effective ultimatum - "Rewrite the endings because it's the only thing "we" (i.e. those disgruntled fans) are going to let you (i.e. Bioware) do." Everything else the company tries to do will get ripped apart online. They (disgruntled fans) started a "war" back in 2012 when ME3 was released and they aren't giving up on it. The irony is that now, 5 years later, even if Biware rewrites the endings, the complaining about their games is so entrenched that it is unlikely to end even then. IMO, to get anywhere, Bioware may have to dissolve as a company and start up again under a completely different name. I like how you just assume things and are so sure about the assumptions you make about the OP. You are being very dramatic in your post. I am not a "disgruntled fan" who wants a rewrite of the endings or whatever.I wasn't even around during that period.I finished playing the trilogy in 2014 and I don't recall ever opening a similar thread and the "moved on" in the title only means moving on to a new setting and whether the spin-off/new story approach was better than a sequel. To which, I even wrote that I believe the MEU is so rich and ripe for many stories where we could have had both,if only Bioware had planned ahead a bit better. I am not against Andromeda, as many stated i this thread, the idea was pretty solid but poorly executed.

Well, I guess with not really knowing what BioWare is actually going to do, it's hard to say what benefits what right now. The only thing truly benefitting at the moment is Kotaku. It's diabolical I tells ya. Screw Kotaku, I didn't even give them a click.Whatever I learnt, I read on this forum. Anyway, whatever happens...I just don't want to see ME gone .Mass Effect is Bioware's baby, they won't abandon it.

With the future of Mass Effect being a bit unclear because of Mass Effect Andromeda, I started thinking about all the moments leading up to the release of MEA. I remember most fans just wanting to "move on" and eagerly leave everyone and everything we knew in the past. New stories, new characters, new adventures and a whole new setting ,while others felt the franchise should have continued somehow with Shepard. I know , MEA' s failings have less to do with its setting and more to do with a myriad other things, but I wanted to open a discussion for fans to talk about their opinions on whether the departure to a spin-off was better or worse than making an actual sequel. Yes, a sequel (ME4) would mean rewriting the endinds of ME3 and that wouldn't be feasible anyway. However, having seen and played Mass Effect Andromeda ,would anyone have preferred a ME4 with Shepard instead of what we got, afterall? Just a hypothetical question. My humble opinion is that the franchise is so rich and ripe for stories we could have gotten both. If only,Bioware had planned it better. Feel free to discuss. Quoting my OP to further avoid misunderstandings as some people think I am somehow intending to be negative,or proclaim Bioware dead or I am a hater or whatever they want to think.

Umm..Chill, dude?? I used the word "unclear" for a reason. Unclear as in we don't really know what the future holds for the ME franchise ,whether good or bad. Unclear, as in we know there are many rumours around which we don't know are true or false. Geez. With the front page covered with everyone speculating about the death of the franchise and people who are still interested in DLC being concerned and even bummed that they won't be getting DLC that they want, I don't think you are helping matters. Throwing in the word 'unclear' doesn't make it okay that you just basically spent a whole post implying the end of the franchise directly or indirectly. Unclear doesn't fix that and even in this reply you have to lean heavily on 'we really don't know what the future holds' which is the same as we knew when MEA was released. But you seem to want to create a bunch of negative commentary here implying that it could be the end like all the other shit posts that have been going on since that wannabe relevant click bait blog published its statement. If ever there were 'fake news' that would be it. That you are now getting in the mix of the rumor mill and adding more speculation without contributing any kind of new facts makes you part of the problem. What are you drinking? Seriously, I need it. Anyways, to anyone reading this thread I want to clarify this .My thread has to do with whether fans think the story moving on to a new setting was beneficial or not after all. I didn't create this post to generate any negativity or whatever conspiracy theory this person claims my post to be.

With the future of Mass Effect being a bit unclear because of Mass Effect Andromeda Stop this shit. Seriously. All of this is based on one poorly written blog where where the writer jumps to conclusions. Also most gaming companies always move people around at the end of a completed game and keep some for DLC. Why would you keep them there doing nothing when you could put them on other things that are up and coming? It would be idiotic and a poor business tactic. This is the official statement which that article manages to put in at the very end of it in order to maintain some level of journalistic integrity that is based in fact and not wild speculation. A link to the article is added below. Please read the whole thing and not just the first few paragraphs. You will see with some applied logic skills that the writer leaps to some conclusions that are not even remotely true based on EA's own statement. kotaku.com/sources-bioware-montreal-downsized-mass-effect-put-on-1795100285Umm..Chill, dude?? I used the word "unclear" for a reason. Unclear as in we don't really know what the future holds for the ME franchise ,whether good or bad. Andromeda could have been a m a z i n g. I truly believed it until the last minute. By playing it safe they made this new galaxy WAY TOO familiar from the planets to the aliens, they reused many ideas and they drew many character and story parallels. (We need 2 humans, 1 asari, 1 krogan etc. Etc.) and story parallels. Andromeda is not bad,it is just not compelling enough ,at least for me. At this point I'd accept anything else than the game we got. Hell, I'd accept some cheesy and contrived explanation that Shepard managed to get his/her conciousness in a synthetic body at this point. Not because I miss Shepard, but because I found MEA s story so underwhelming and "meh" I don't necessarily miss specific elements of the trilogy like the location or the protagonist or the supporting characters. I miss the feelings the trilogy made me feel.I miss the excitement.Don't know how else to put it. ...and to reply to my own question.Did the moving on benefit the franchise? Yes ,but the mediocre product nullified that beneficial effect. If that makes any sense. Of course it makes sense. You did not like the game. You were disappointed after a few years of waiting, and want something else instead.
But it makes no less sense that I've liked it, am having a blast second time through it, and was not disappointed at all, so I want more of the same or in the same vein.
With every new game, we all crave a player gamegasm. I've been through this cycle for twenty years since BG2 was announced. Sometimes, it doesn't happen, doesn't click, no matter what. Sometimes you come around and start getting used to a game and kindda liking it. Sometimes you fall for it the moment the opening credits stop and your character opens his or her mouth.
The REAL issue is that we simply do not get enough games in that vein so people can play something new that they like. All of us, young and old, girl and boy, crone and old man, libertarian and conservative, penned into one release every 2 to 4 years. How can we all love it, particularly when we already have divergent opinions cultivated during 10 previous years over MET itself?
Never said I didn't like Mass Effect Andromeda. I just didn't like it enough,I suppose.

Moved on? Moved on? With the amount of bitching over no Shepard and comparing everyone and thing to the MET, hardly anyone moved on. MEA is my fav in the series now and it's been torn to shreds for some of the dumbest reasons! Moved on? Ha! Sorry , you misunderstood my post. What I meant by saying we moved on is not us ,the fans and how we feel emotionally. I meant strictly the story moving on from MW to Andromeda.New story, new characters, new setting.

It would have been fun to do similar to ME2 opening, have ME4 take place where Shepard is lying on the ground right before ascending to the Citadel. Real tense fast paced start. Finish dealing with Reapers, real boss fight, not f*ingMauarader Shields And no Space Kid. Have awesome reunion with crew post battle, save Earth. Everything's great - Then start next story a few years later w/ dark energy problem as outlined by Drew Karpyshyn who left. This was hinted at in Codex. Game proceeds from this initial threat with new story and enemies. Why not do this? It would side step the pile they've been in for 5 years, and with something like the Dragon Keep to make a save state in, all choices would matter. Who'da thunk? I once had the exact same idea. No need to release a rewritten ME3, but instead have ME4 introduction be the last sequence of ME3.That would be cool. But that would never happen.

Yes that it very troubling.
MEA has so many unanswered questions that might never be answered even through DLC,if the series is truly on hiatus. We might have to wait years for a sequel or revival.A hiatus means bad news for the other media too like books and comics etc.
They shouldn't have listened to EA pushing them for a new game. They should have thought long abd hard on how to continue the franchise and if they should have at all.

I voted maybe. It really depends on various factors. Here I am no one. 26, no job or worthy education, no achievements ,no bright future ahead of me.Just basic every day survival and general average-ness until I die.So why not contribute to something bigger like colonization of another planet/system/galaxy? So maybe I'd do it, if I had no one in my life.Anyway, doubt I'd be very useful there apart from manual labor I guess. But then again if Conrad Verner's sister got it ,anyone could Screw it though, I 'd never abandon Tali (my dog).

I have... Or at least , I am playing less often. I am at 72-73 hours, before the Journey to Meridian.Have all 4 planets on 100% viability ,haven't done all loyalty missions and haven't visited the planet HC something something. I feel kinda tired but I will finish it. When not on my PS4 and in Andromeda, I play Persona 4 and Severed on my PSVita and The Witcher 3 on One.

I just expected more from the planet design but sadly it wasn't delivered. For anyone who wants to see something very interesting. Google this 'seven kindgoms decennium' and check the images. It is the cover of a heavy metal album I came across and they draw inspiration from fantasy and scifi . When I saw the cover artwork I immediately thought that this is how I wanted Andromeda to look like.Alien and most of all...Alive. I can't share the picture now because I am on my phone . Apart from Havarl and Habitat 7, it all looked so dull.

"For example, we used to rely heavily on our forums, but now we've got several channels of information coming in. You just get a much larger pool, because when you're limiting it to one channel or two, it self-selects to an extent. You're only going to get feedback from people who'll take the time to become a member of that forum, or what have you. It's been nice having a broad assortment of people give us feedback – good and bad – through channels like Twitter and Facebook." Im sorry what? So what Im getting from this, is they got rid of the forums because they were relying too heavily on it for feedback? Ok...um wouldn't it make more sense to just also be more active on twitter, facebook, reddit etc then? Instead you completely nuke your offical fan forums because you want a larger pool of feedback? Makes no sense to me. Makes as much sense as the Starchild... Somehow ..."Twitter,Facebook,Reddit" is broader and more varied and less limiting than "Twitter,Facebook,Reddit AND an official Bioware forum. My head is spinning.

By the time all these are fixed I will have probably finished the game and move on (...i have a huge backlog and not much time so... ;( ) so good luck to the team and to everyone who will enjoy a more stable and improved gaming experience .
I will probably replay it in the future along with my Trilogy playthroughs. I just can't start a new playthrough right away.I never do that.

Can someone elaborate this? I took it as meaning that the trilogy references and small easter eggs felt a bit shoehorned?Forced? I think she meant they cpuld have been done a bit better?

I didn't know what to expect since she os one of the Bioware specific content YTbers, but I found her review very objective ,well thought out and she acknowledged the misgivings and issues of the games and didn't overall seem to judge it with rose tinted glasses...I appreciate that.
