lol yeah that's insane. Might I ask to follow your own advice and swap your sig pics? The photobucket placeholder is already bigger than the alloted sig image size and yours are stacking on top of each other. Thanks. Also, prepare to move to off topic...

One of the most pressure healing I was doing was pulling my husband through the Rak Plague H4. He really liked it and wanted the rewards, so I had to heal him through it every day. He was playing his crap geared tank with Kira and I was healing him, Kira and Zen. He does not really play an MP tank, and guardian tank is not exactly the Vanguard, so... yeah, heals galore, plus the boss throws CCs around. My Sage was geared, but I had to move myself and Zenith, and heal two companions which meant I did not have the four health bars, and needed to have Kira on Focus to see her status.
So, yeah, the Imperial party camped us and their sorc healed our boss. Gotta give it to them they gave us a round of applause after we did manage to get the bloody thing down, but I wanted to strangle the guy. He just friggen watched me running around like a mouse under mettle, using my breaks, interrupts, bubbles and pee puddles. Lol. I felt like I was under professional evaluation.
I don't like playing with my husband (blush), but oh, well, what can you do. I've played with really great tanks as well, and it's a different kind of love.
Edit: makes me remember all the good times & good people, but I don't think I could do it again. Like the Anthem stuff.... I just don't feel like learning and trying as hard as I did in SWTOR for the sake of playing a game. Wow. Yeah I never bothered with the events, except for a few bounties on my BH (for obvious reasons). And I wouldn't say I ever "tried hard" in TOR. First I was intimidated by group content with more commitment than heroics (and even H4s I dreaded) until the story forced me into them (Ilum and later Oricon though it'd be a full year before I had a guild take me through DF). Once I became more confident I still couldn't be bothered to do progression or any of that nonsense. Never PVP'd either. Just started healing FPs. Whatever I could get on my own or with minimal effort group wise was fine. Everything else, fuck it. When this RNG hamster wheel grind dropped I didn't even look at it. I stopped doing HMFPs but I can still do tacticals well enough. I started playing about a week ago (Jedi Knight, finishing Coruscant) and it has been fairly monotonous so far (jump to an enemy => gain Focus => release Focus; repeat until dead). The companion ensures my survival, so it is hard to lose. Does the gameplay become more engaging or should I try another class? How long it takes to beat Knight's story/questline? Are you a sentinel or guardian? Both are focus based so not much will change but I did find one spec of Guardian more fun than my original Sentinel- Focus. Couple of good things about it include: - a utility which finishes cooldown on Leap and saber throw once you exit combat. This greatly increases the flow between mobs as you can throw and leap more often. -a utility which gives you knockback protection after you leap. Later on you'll encounter quite a few enemies that like knocking you back as soon as you leap. This no-sells it nicely. -the general playstyle (for PVE) comes down to a few different "one-two" combos, where one ability kind of primes the other (for example a leap makes another ability auto-crit). You can do good damage that way and they're fairly easy to chain together. Plus they feel powerful. Maybe the spec isn't putting out the most numbers at endgame (you don't seem the type to care right now) but I found it pretty fun. As for the class story, it takes the same amout for every class because every class has roughly the same progression of planets: Prologue: Starter > Capital (so Tython and Coruscant in your case) Chapter 1: Four planets (Taris, Nar Shadda, Tatooine, Alderaan) Chapter 2: 2.5 Planets (Balmorra, Quesh (the 0.5), Hoth) Chapter 3: Three Planets (Belsavis, Voss, Corellia) Endgame (this is where it narrows down to faction and eventually one story in the expansions because "resources") with various interludes, callbacks and final missions sprinkled in between. Imperials have Balmorra and Taris switched, and Dromund Kaas as a capital and their own starter worlds, but that's about it. Chapter 1 is by far the longest and most repetitive, though some classes hide it better than others. Knight unfortunately is not one of them. Chapter 1 does drag on a bit, but it does get better later. The solo gameplay through your story and the planetary quests will remain easy mode. The game was never truly hard in that respect and even so it has been dumbed down alot since release. You can always put your companion in DPS mode instead of healing for some extra challenge. The game was tedious because it was designed as a notWoW grind sink. With that removed, what's left is rather barebones. Eh, I don't raid either. I gave that up when I left WoW because I was burned out. I'm a dirty, casual, PvE, story player who does occasional FP and uprisings with friends. I've played SWtOR from early release or whatever it was called and never liked the PvP. I'm sure there are some nice folks...somewhere, and I'll leave it at that. Speaking of...

*walks in with blinders on*
This is a general Dishonored thread, yes? Because I'm so into the first one and want to talk about it. I just got the second one but it'll obviously be a while before I get through it. So I'll try to avoid the spoilers as much as possible.
Anyway, amazing freakin game. Fun, engaging, very interesting style, hell of a shocker for all star voice cast, and then there's the writing. It'd certainly give most BioWare games I've played decision envy.

I assure you, you were. PVE= Player vs Environment. PVP= Player Vs Player. Questing, doing the class stories etc. fall under the former. So unless you want to try and beat up people your first time out, you're doing PVE Thinks she will crawl back into her SP RPG hole. Doesn't like people running around on her lawn anyway. It's ok, we don't expect you to implictly know the acronyms/lingo from day one. Day 3, tops And as may have already be mentioned, the state of the base game is such that it can be treated as an SP game anyway. An SP game with a lot of walking/riding. Jedi Knight is a good story to start with, it's the classic Star Wars story.

I wish I could say I knew it was a joke. But I am such a noob to MMO stuff that a lot of information goes over my head. It didn't sound like the best idea (well fun maybe) but I wasn't planning any PVE so.... I assure you, you were. PVE= Player vs Environment. PVP= Player Vs Player. Questing, doing the class stories etc. fall under the former. So unless you want to try and beat up people your first time out, you're doing PVE That is trolling of the worst (finest) kind I am so guilty of doing it on a few occasions. It's actually how I saw a player hacking for the first time in the game. It was on Belsavis, I was sneaking around on my Operative healer in an Empire friendly NPC zone. The Republic has a few quests there so I met a Guardian who was killing stuff. I hid on a ledge above and sneakily healed an Elite droid. It was back when max level was 50 and the Elites did pack some punch. Kira got toasted, the Guardian's HP dropped to 15 % and it never went lower than that despite the droid beating him for good 3-4 minutes. By the way Bioware removed the accidental PvP flagging ever since they separated the instances as either PvP or PvE. You won't meet a PvP flagged player in a PvE instance anymore. Which is sad as I had so much fun being both "flagged fake helpless noob" and "ganking troll". All those lovely times when I surprised gankers by killing them back and all those evenings hunting flagged people with my stealthers...gone forever. Still though, some players still believe PvP instances are not for PvP and they do cry a lot when I kill them before they can react And the very rare cases when there is someone of the other faction on a hunt at the same time as me. Last time it happened was on Darvannis where my Merc and a Shadow played a hide and seek duel for a full hour all over the map before I managed to outwit and kill him before he could stealth escape again. Several innocent bystander players of both factions were collateral damage. Yeah I had an Imp healing Imp mobs on me on Ilum, near the Jedi Temple once. In retrospect it was kind of funny, but at the time I was not amused. I tried attacking him and of course got my ass handed to me. A PVPer (or even particularly well geared) I am not, not then, and certainly not now with all this RNG shit. I am not a fan of gankers, even in theory. The healer on Ilum had his bit of fun, but at least it was a tad more creative. And he did it once, then moved on. Constantly targeting lowbies or even obvious noobs and ruining their game time is another matter. Once I got decent enough at healing I even considered tranferring an alt to a PVP server to counter that. Run around cloaked healing folks that were having trouble. Probably wouldn't have gone over very well since PVP's a whole other game no matter which side of the trinity you're on. Still, maybe I'd have gotten good enough for it to be fun.

Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it. It's a strange adjustment to have real people running around in my game. but I am really enjoying the class story so far. Hey, to be clear, you know I was joking right? Healing enemies the other side's trying to kill is griefing. It's funny, when it's not happening to you. But if you're trying to play nice, I maybe wouldn't do that. That being said I do find it rewarding being a healer and saving someone from death before they're overwhelmed. Doesn't happen as often anymore with the current state of companions and leveling. But still sometimes people bite off more than they can chew or they don't heal between fights. Dropping in out of nowhere and getting them up from near death to near full is pretty sweet.

Yep, nothing controversial about history. Unless you've got Holocaust deniers, or similar revisionists of anything this century, not really, no. It's all relative of course, but I don't recall hearing of people legit threatening harm to life or limb, doxxing or even calling each cunts over the War of 1812 or the French Revolution.
In any case, the mods have voted and we do not find sufficient ground for allowing additional "social issue" threads at this time. Any and all discussion related to RL socio-political issues will be discussed in the politics thread, unless already present in another topic where discussion will carry on relevant to the context of that topic only. As this suggestion has been dealt with, thread is now locked.

Oh okay, so the politics thread is the only one that deals with "RL." Great. Well except for the history thread. Oh, and the science thread. And the gun thread. Facts about your country. Questions thread. Females only. And the handful of threads about various current events.
The rule is already flimsy. People are making and will continue to make threads about aspects of real life and society. Unless you now want to expand the politics thread even further to become the "RL" thread and dictate that all conversations concerning real life take place in it, there's no point in keeping to that "rule." (And, no, please don't actually do that. That's...silly.)
Anyway, I think I've more than said my piece. You guys carry on as you will.
RL "heavy" issues. AKA possibly controversial, potentially explosive discussions. Things that usually get people really riled up. History, science, guns (the technical aspects, as discussed by enthusiasts) and rando questions do not fall into that category. I think you know full well what I meant.

BioWare being a company that is notorious for interweaving social issues into the narrative of its games, politics included, I don't think the discussion of social issues is very much beyond the pale. I wouldn't exactly call a 1000+ page thread a pinhole either. And if the discussion that said pinhole has let in is considered to be within "acceptable levels," then I certainly don't see how allowing the occasional discussion of social issues in a reasoned, even-tempered tone outside of the politics thread would be that much of a Pandora's box. And you can discuss social issues in the context of those games in their relevant threads to your heart's content. That is "accepted here in the context of a relevant, on-topic discussion as long as every post furthers the discussion in some way." Go ahead and talk about population control in the context of the genophage or eugenics in the context of Miranda or Grunt. Making a thread about those things in a vaccuum however, is something else. BioWare makes games. They do not make political or social manifestos. As we mirror that, we discuss games. Some social stuff is interweaved, sure. But opening the floodgates to social issues threads is not interweaving. It's turning a entire section of the forum into full blown social issues discussion. Because simply calling it "the occasional" discussion isn't getting at the full scope. On what grounds would we limit the amount of threads being open then? On what definitions? "Racism isn't the same as sexism! Yes it is! No it isn't" and on and on. Any ruling we'd make would be hilariously arbitrary. We had initially made the executive call that we won't open that can. The politics thread is a pinhole, because of how it's watched and moderated. One thread, as both outlet and sink for those that just have to talk about this stuff here. That may be arbitrary to some extent as well, but I'd much rather arbitrary-ness be an exception, not a rule. And again, the politics thread is an exception. The rule is: we don't do "RL" here, except for this one case. "...except for this one case, and also these other ones" is far flimsier and invites the dreaded slipperly slope. What I want is the ability to discuss social issues that wouldn't naturally fall under the umbrella of "politics" if it weren't for the way discussion of those topics is handled by moderation... the social subjects I do want to discuss are being lumped into the politics where they don't belong. This is a difference of definitions. You feel they're different. The case can be made that they're not, or they're related enough to make belonging to the same thread feasible. Then there's the catchall consideration mentioned above. I'll take the Red Pill thread as an example. That wasn't going anywhere unpleasant. The only reason it was moderated was simply because it veered into territory that is directly relevant to the topic of the thread but which, for some reason, has been declared the sole domain of the politics thread, even though it's not actually politics. I'm asking for that not to happen in the future. No, I'm quite aware that #notallpolitickers, but I'll disagree that the nature of the politics thread isn't at the heart of it. As dusty pointed out, that's one of the main draws of the thread (and again, that's fine). But the thing is, the discussion I was having in the Red Pill thread did involve regulars of the Politics thread but didn't have any of the inane meme-iness of it. That was a nice change of pace and one that I would like to occur more often without moderator interference. That's because it went on for all of 20 minutes. Not really fair to judge such a short sample. And despite said shortness, I still had to act on a personal attack. The details of that don't matter, but the fact remains that despite the apparent chaos of the politics thread, we are keeping very tight reins on "sensitive" subjects in RL, and for good reason. Page counts are less of a problem compared to chasing reports across multiple threads. I believe you've witnessed some of the trouble there for yourself.

Liked for Stannis gif.
In all seriousness, we are reviewing this request. In the meantime, standing policy applies. Personally (and sometimes I need to stress the "personally" bit) I am not in favor. The politics thread is an exception, not a rule. Allowing any and all social issues on a board that's about BioWare games and general gaming/internet stuff may be a can of worms we don't wish to open fully. The pinhole we have is currently within acceptable levels.
Secondly, and this may be the more relevant point to you (and as others have pointed out), multiple threads will not achieve your aim of avoiding certain users or "posting styles". Anyone is welcome to post in any thread. If you dislike memes and "/pol/-esque rhetoric", do you really believe they wouldn't follow in the new threads? Threads that don't have the history and the expectations of the politics thread, where people will fly off the handle, break rules and necessitate us to intervene? I find that unlikely and I don't think that's desirable, for anyone. The idea of "thread culture" is secondary, because any new thread will inevitably draw some or all of the politics regulars because those are the topics they choose to engage with, even if they do so in a way you disapprove of. Thread culture develops naturally and you can't exclude users to develop it along the path you desire. We enforce the rules, I don't believe we will ever enforce thread lines. The only thing that can work to that specific respect is PM.
If I may share my experiences in the politics thread, it is not quite the uniform shitpostfest it appears. People do carry on their own discussion and there is disagreement or even indifference on certain topics. I can atttest to the later personally, being cheerfully apathetic. I mostly react to "SJW cringe", and throw the occasional hypothetical or more philosophically inclined post in once in a while. I don't engage everyone or everything and not everyone engages me. It could be the same for you, or anyone else. There will be users who will disagree with you and will do nothing but lob memes. But here's the thing: that's not a function of the politics thread. That's a function of you, them and that issue in a room together. And it won't be fixed by segregation of issues. It may be "fixed" by segregation of people, but that's not what we're about.

Yeah, I'm calling this the pullback point. Take further discussion of the general topic back to the politics thread. Alternatively, watch the documentary and discuss its specifics one way or the other. Why? Gender studies and sociology are different subjects than political science. At this time, the politics thread serves as a catchall for RL socio-political issues (which are often very related anyway). This is the allowance we've made for "RL issues" on an otherwise gaming/random fun stuff board. This thread is being allowed on the grounds that it's specifically about the film. If that is not the case, it will be locked. Edit: and now we take a little break for that to sink in. We'll return shortly.
We're back. Kindly keep to the film or lock becomes permanent.

I think that the title of the documentary is a mistake, as the majority of the people who would benefit the most from watching it will have a knee-jerk reaction to "red pill", and completely disregard it without any further inspection. That said, apart from that, this documentary was pretty good. I think that's kinda the point. Less knee-jerking, more listening. The true "lost causes" will knee-jerk and stomp off at "MRA" anyway. Having them around for a few min longer wouldn't change much. That being said, I still need to make time and see this. This week, hopefully.

Of course, any First One could solo pretty much all the younger races combined (maybe the Minbari would inconvenience them slightly, but that's about it). Luckily, most didn't care and the two that did were more about playing favorites (or rather getting us to) than outright destruction. And yeah I still get chills (of awesome) over the Shadow ships. If I still had some doubts after Mind War that I would be obsessed with this series, that first encounter sealed the deal. Menacing and mysterious, they truly felt like a cosmic force. I think Shadow ships slightly edge out over Vorlon ships for me due to their phasing as opposed to the standard jump holes everyone else was using. It's so right for them. On the other hand when the sky suddenly spams jump holes everywhere and the Vorlon fleet comes through you know shit will get ruined, something their half-children the White Stars inherit Would've been cool to see more First One level tech in how the other ships moved too. The Walkers get a cool lightning-y effect, sort of half phasing, half jumping. We don't see what the other Ones do though.

Damn it, I just watched the episode where the Drazi merchant tries to bug his groceries and Vir takes Londo's sword and trashes his stand.
RIP Stephen Furst.
"His death was announced by his sons Nathan and Griffith Furst, who asked that fans “celebrate his life by watching one of his movies or use one of his bits to make someone else laugh – really, really hard.” See their entire statement below." -http://deadline.com/2017/06/stephen-furst-dies-animal-house-obituary-1202115443/
In that spirit, here's some great Vir moments:

Alright, we've come to a fork. If you wish to discuss politics go here: Political Discussion 2.0 A reminder that RL political issues can only be discussed in the Politics thread. If you wish to discuss sci-fi, find a relevant thread (the most general seems to be: What Are Your Favorite Sci-Fi Movies / Shows? ) or create one if you want to talk about something that doesn't quite fit. And... we're out!
