We can accept now that Andromda was a failure. But do you consider it canon?

This whole headcanon thing started innocently decades ago as fans toyed around with contradictory informations and tried to come up with ways of fixing a faulty continuity. I saw a lot of this kind of mental gymnastics among DC Comic readers and Star Trek fans in the 80s and 90s.

Nowadays, headcanoning things in and out of continuity has reached a whole new level. It became the mental equivalent of a safe zone for the weak minded and insecure. A way to "punish" (or so they think) works that hurt their fragile feelings by demoting them to apocryphal status. At least in their own conception.

This is symptomatic of a culture of weakness that demoted truth and reality to a subjective status while placing too much emphasis on "feeling good" and avoiding anything that might hurt, contradict or irritate the person. Tell the youngsters too many times that they can create their own reality and define what is true and this is the expected and logical result.
