I personally believe we won't see Mass Effect return for atleast another 4 years (2021), my realistic expectation is placed for Late 2022. BioWare is gonna need ALOT of time for this one to make sure it exceeds our expectations IF they do make another ofc. I'm anticipating a Reboot similar to Tomb Raider and Mirror's Edge, but deep inside I do hope we get a sequel for Andromeda...

It depends if they go for a reboot, soft reboot, new story within Andromeda, new story within the MWG, or a direct sequel to Andromeda.
Direct Sequel to Andromeda 2020, maybe 2021. Everything else, probably 2022.

I say 4-5 years from now. Anyways. I chose 2022
I would also guess there won't be any news about ME until after the next da game is released which might be late 2019.

I'd love a sequel to ME:A, but I'm really not that optimistic about there being one at all ever. I think the single-player RPG genre (as far as large-scale AAA games) is dying... It's gettingmore and more expensive to produce each game and the whole genre has generally been not the biggest sellers when it comes to videogames anyways. Small niche indie RPGs will continue on PC, but I think Bioware is only the first AAA developerr to give off indications about going away from the completely.

I'm going to guess 2021, figuring when their other games will most likely release.

My estimate is after Dragon Age 4. So nothing has really changed except for the DLC.

I know this isn't going to be popular nor is it what I want but I honestly believe this was the last Mass Effect game we will ever get. A reboot isn't a new game so I don't count that.

Honestly, I think the same thing, just hearing people talk about. Casey Hudson, the GM of Bioware says that he hopes to bring it back, so the decision is out of his hands and in EAs. Then an executive from EA says if they bring, not when, if they bring the series back it has to be something relevant and fresh. Just sounds like it's not even on the roadmap, and that they have no intentions right now of making another ME game. They probably hope the players will migrate to Anthem, and if they don't I wouldn't be shocked if we saw Mass Effect Online in the future.

Yes, I think the general trends within the industry actually play into the notion that EA/Bioware may not see their way to making another Mass Effect game... nor do I think they'll see their way into making a reboot of the OT either. More likely they'll put their efforts towards a new IP... something that doesn't have all the various baggage ME does. The time for a remaster was when the Next Gen consoles came out... particularly with Xbox taking so long to get the OT backwards compatibility worked out (and no such compatibility on the PS4). With ME:A in the works at that time, it would have been a great way to draw in a bunch of new players... but they didn't do it then, so I doubt they ever will. I think the people still holding out for that are basically fooling themselves worse than the people they liked to criticize a couple of months ago for still hoping for DLC.

Shouldn't the poll include "never"? I voted 2023+, and consider "Never" to be a distinct possibility. I believe that ME might be a tarnished IP, at this point. It's hard to make money when people are lined up to ridicule your creation simply for what it is or who made it. I'm not saying that's exactly what happened with MEA. I do think that this is the place in which BioWare finds itself now with Mass Effect. No matter what EA green lights, I suspect that it would meet with ire, ridicule and diminished sales. I think EA is smart enough to recognize this. If we ever see ME again, I suspect that it will be many years from now.

Anything Mass Effect related will come under intense scrutiny following the Andromeda fiasco and undoubtedly a degree of undeserved criticism. But a good game can easily rise above that. Of course, EA would have to put their faith in Bioware to deliver so I doubt that will happen until DA4 is released and they can see how that's received. And EA might just decide Bioware has too much baggage now and pull the plug on that as well.

It'll be a while. This style of rpg is dying, unfortunately. All games will become loot crate opening or card scrapping and building new cards.

I just don't think that BioWare will be given/take another shot at it. The ME3 debacle was bad, and then we get this MEA reception. No IP runs forever. I think they'll let ME lie dormant for a long time, if not permanently.

For now Mass Effect is dead so it is not a case for when we think it will come out but if there will be more Mass Effect games. If we are lucky we will have an answer in 2 or 3 years but that would depend on how the next two Bioware games do.

There's countless examples of IP's that have been dormant for a long time only to come back.

Good question.
ME5 is at least one Anthem + DA4 and DA5 away, imo. This is based on Mike Laidlaw's comments about Bio planning two games ahead.
Looking back we had Andromeda in the works and Anthem as a followup. Then we heard about DA4 which confirmed Mike's comments (which, btw, Mike mentioned there is no planned ending for the DA series).
To summarise, Bio's Game Chart may look like this:
Pre-Andromeda launch
cooking = Andromeda planned = Anthem, DA4
Post-Andromeda: cooking = Anthem (to last 10 yrs)
planned = DA4, Andromeda2
Updated Post-Andromeda: cooking = Anthem revised plan = DA4, DA5

Last one? .... don't think so.
EA argued, sometimes back, that Andromeda is "a great game". I agree, especially after all the patches. Plus, EA's powers that be said any future ME game must be fresh and exciting. That is not a nail in the MEA coffin.
I anticipate some ME news after 2024-5.

The statement does imply that the Bioware team has to come up with some fresh and exciting ideas in order for EA to agree to do another one. This then precludes any sort of sequel to the ME:A story (which I liked personally but went over like a lead balloon with a very determined and vocal group of fans who were determined to force a reboot of the Trilogy story). Unfortunately for them, that statement also precludes such a reboot - since it's also not a fresh idea... so people should really get off riding them about doing such a thing. If Bioware does come up with something truly fresh and exciting that they'll be willing to pitch to EA, I really don't think they are going to risk attaching it to the Mass Effect name again. They'll start a new IP instead. They are not going to try to face down those same "ME fans" who have made it very evident that they are absolutely determined that only a rewrite of ME3's endings will placate them. The mandate from EA is obviously not to placate old ME fans (who obviously cannot be placated anyways), but to come up with something new to attract new fans. Bioware hoped ME:A would be it... but that hasn't worked out as well as they hoped. The next try, therefore, will likely be even more far removed from the old ideas embedded in the ME Trilogy. I also think the genre itself is dying... being overtaken by games with more action elements and more MP elements. This also makes it tougher for Bioware to "sell" another try at a Mass Effect RPG to EA execs at this point. Of course, the skies could always part and the kett keel over... but I don't think that will happen any time in the foreseeable future.
