Yeah, the adas was a gun unfortunately that for most Engineers cannot be used until at level X and with the ultra light materials.
Incinerate has a very short priming window, also I think Overload or Energy Drain, and after around 3 seconds (factoring in travel time gives you some extra buffer) you cannot detonate for a fire explosion or tech burst.
The way to get around that is to play a grenade engineer like Quarian or Demolisher, and pack on the weight.
The Adas is like a more single target, more ammo with auto tracking version of Falcon. They both are excellent against Cerberus, but only the Falcon I think is decent enough even off host, because it has an explosion radius that gives better staggers.
