make good arguments and I'd accept them. Basing your entire argument on what the majority of some nebulous 'community' might think isn't a compelling argument. Hell it sort of goes into what Stallin had to say about voting. Just because you seem to think the 'community' has come to accept your definition of the word gives you the 'right' to define the word and call people liars despite anyones logical disagreement. I don't buy your definition, i know others who agree with me, bioware doesen't and the rest of the industry seems to support that definition. Sure you may be right the 'community' may agree with you but massive amounts of people come together and mske illogical, inconsistent, and sometimes insane usages of words all the time. So yeah, when you make good arguments...as people have in this thread..I'll be prepared to accept them. Language is developed based on how words are used with in a community. As I said before one of the criteria for the meaning of words is convention, convention is how a word is usually used within a community. So in point of fact basing my definition of live services in gaming on how the majority of the gaming community views it is the correct way to do things. Furthermore the word is a subcategory of a word with an already accepted definition. This definition, as an umbrella term, must apply to all its subcategories. So there are already good arguments given, you just don't want to accept them which isn't really my problem. And yes while the community do come together and make illogical word usages all the time, if it's used enough those illogical world usages will become part of our language like it or not. Take for example the new phrase "on accident". This is not a logical phrase, and the common slang has often been "by accident", people are up in arms about this and yet it's usage has increased and people working at dictionaries have come out to defend this usage so expect to see it entrenched into our lexicon.

the last post was three hours ago and it is on topic. I've made my last post on the current issue but this conversation was relevant and even kind of important...as much as anything on the BSN.
