With recent news of DA4 going single-player only, how has your opinion of the games potential change

As with all Bio games: indifferent/don't care.

We only have previous experiences to create some sort of expectation on what's to come, because nothing new hasn't come in years so sounds pretty difficult/mood to form any kind of opinion/expectations I think.

In my case I don't see anything to be available to have any form of distaste, hype or whatever, it's like looking into the abyss, you can't really see anything. So it's kinda "eh" I guess.

Pessimistic. The single player is already going to absolute garbage, and now there isn't even multiplayer to distract from that or play with friends.

Are we talking overall or comparing the change before the news vs now?

This was a tough question for me.

Overall, I'd say I'm indifferent.

On one hand I like that there is no multiplayer that might compromise the single player game's control scheme and gameplay, but on the other hand I find the focus of the franchise's plot utterly uninteresting. Ancient elves, "lords of fortune" and whatever else weird factions were mentioned in recent books just don't catch my interest at all. Nor did all that rule of cool stuff in the trailer.

It still might be good of course, but at the moment I'm not expecting much.

Indifferent until we actually start seeing some gameplay and get a peak at the world design.

Your view on the potential quality of the game given the recent news (about it being single-player) vs what we knew from before (the game having live-service elements). Not sure if the title isn't being specific enough, but I'm not asking users to base their opinion on what they think the quality of the game will be (obviously, it's not out yet). It's asking your opinion of how you feel about the prospects of the game given that - NOW - it is considered to be a single-player only title; as opposed to being Live-Service title. Hopefully, that helps clarify things.

Its kind of tough to gage just how 'happy' (or sad) we should be at this news given that:

1. We are unsure how much multiplayer was going to be planned or how much it was going to rely on a MP component. We do not know if it was going to have DA MP or ME MP as a seperate co op mode or if it was going to be a full on MMO style game.
2. We do not know how much they had planned for post launch content (live service). Indeed given that the article mentioned Jedi Fallen Order by name, which has had zero post launch story content, its not unreasonable to worry for those of us who like BioWare's releasing of DLC and their other story DLC packs have greatly added to the experience.
3. We do not know if the loss of MP will also signal a loss in development budget or less of a focus. If EA still views MP as being some great cash cow, or their investors, a DA 4 without MP might recieve less attention then a DA 4 with MP...which could mean a lower quality game overall despite being SP.
4. We do not know what other effects this will have on the overall project and what other effects this might have trickling down in terms of other game play systems. Again given that Fallen Order is referenced specifically as being an influence of this decision that might mean a focus on puzzle based gameplay and trolley Dark Souls style combat. Or they might decide to 'go back to their roots' and look at BG 3 as an inspiration...ick.

Despite all of this I am optomistic. While some of DA4s mp proposals sounded like they had promise and while I could have seen myself playing DA 4 MP with my friends and mayyybbbbe my wife...at the end of the day I still prefer SP focused game play and stories that I can just enjoy by myself in my free time. And, potential loss of budget aside, that will still be one less thing they need to develop overall...which should mean more resources devoted to creating a compelling sp campaign.

Multi-player/live service aren't the same thing. A game can be multiplayer without being live service and vice versa.

DA4 could still have a form or multiple forms of "live service".

Still got a degree of skepticism. Been awhile since bioware produced something I really loved. Hope they can prove my skepticism wrong.

It's definitely upped my hopes a little bit. Still though, there's a lot of interesting angles Bioware could take the story of DA4 and I'm not so convinced that Bioware are going to take any of them.

I'm quietly optimistic. But I was already before the announcement. The SP only just took away something that would have been either annoyng, or left me indifferent. I was still convinced DA4 wasn't going to be a MMO, so long as the MP could be completely ignored without getting punished in the SP game (hello, ME3) I was fine.
