I wanted to die.
I had already died. Then led my team through a suicide mission, and came out the other end unscathed.
Then I witnessed the Arrival, and grasped the scope of the odds. Should have died there, again. Surviving that onslaught required years of simulator training in MP.
I wanted to give everything to the universe, but I wanted to do it in a way where I was able to achieve the best ending - for everyone else.
Instead, I maybe survive somehow, I turn into a little Green man, or turn myself into ShepBrat and play SimUniverse.
My hot take on the trilogy is that they chickened out on Shepard dying. Let that fucker die, and die an honorable death with recognition, and allow us to move forward in the Mass Effect world without an overarching big bad, allowing us to explore more personal stories.

On a related note, I think that the Suicide Mission kind of fails dramatically because it is not actually a suicide mission. Surviving it should have necessitated an element of sacrifice. You have recruited and bonded with these people, helping them grow, but how you must choose who among them will die so that the rest can live. Personally, I'd kill off at least two or three in the "best case scenario".

How DARE you Love something I hate?!?!11 *proceeds to waste 20 hours writing an essay on why the endings are the worst thing since Ebola, give up because "it's not important", cry myself to sleep. Dreams of ME3 being two games, dark energy and cupcakes. *Sneaks in and replaces essay with cat videos* 😈 The dreams are happier and a tad annoying. And I agree, BW should've killed Shepard in an awesome way, maybe bringing Harbinger with him.

Having powerful weapons is a bad thing?.... In my 23 hours what I endured the alpha test of multiplayer game, I never got drell or such. I also found zero powerful weapons. Guns were weak pewpews like in MEAMP in the beginning, but what I heard even ultra rares need a lot of leveling before they get near useable level. Slower campier? So you are describing me3mp then... hahah. Almost nobody except noobs camp in MEAMP, unlike everybody was camping in that... previous test of a mp game. Oh I remember some 'veterans' cursing here "everybody is running around why?" because THEY were camping and losing their oh so precious score points. I think most of these 'veterans' have problems with totally 3D movement games or something like that... Thankfully they toned town everything that was way too brash in that ... 'multiplayer' game. Constant heavy booms made me as professional mixer grind my teeth and edit the sound settings. I did not found a good balancing. Now the good part: Vanguards float on off-hosting, slow melees taking way too much time, melee useable mostly on krogan only, those freaking overlays, some kits cant even dodge wtf! Totally broken OP weapons what I hear about reegar lol. Bugs galore. Dumb passive trees, slow movement kits, stuffy maps, heavily imbalanced kits, no jump or jump melee, useless turrets.. I mean coming from games like UT2003 the .. that me3 alpha test game was soooo bad. I was super disapointed because I first thought they would make it better and faster than SP was. It is the best combat of the trilogy, but holds nothing on MEA combat, this is clear. Also the hype from 'veterans' like some people here, didnt really work out at all in favour of the game in the end. If you cannot properly move in the game, its very bad and in multiplayer game one must move properly. This game didnt mark that field at all, especially if you are near any other object. Game was worse in almost EVERY possible way, except I give it two: Map hazards (which are BUGGED too - you'll die suddenly and nothing was there etc.) and amount of enemy kits. I played it enough to make my own judgement, and it seemed to make the 'veterans' mad back in the day, like now. I laughed. I laugh now. I've played enough games during my ~50 years of gaming, and I also work in the industry (testing the games, their gameplay). Bugtickets avalanche... This isnt a case of git gud, its a case of game being not good enough for me to play it anymore. (also I think the game is dead, I could not find any lobbies the 2 last times I was about to make my self nauseous with the movement and screenshake ) I still sometimes endure me3sp but it reminds me too much of the bad things what me3mp showed me, especially after playing MEAMP Someone may still like it, more power to them. I deemed it a failure in mp gaming. I guess I was lucky when I started playing ME3MP. I started it in 2017 after most of the issues were ironed out and it was an immensely fun experience. Yes, there were bugs and issues. I was hoping the MELE could have MP and work out all the bugs. But I guess we can't have nice things. Not being able to get powerful weapons or characters isn't exclusive to ME3. MEA also has this issue. I was never able to get the Human Kineticist more then twice so I can use all her skill points. Its dumb they didn't take RNG out of MEA. Yes, some guns require upgrades to be better. But I don't see how this is any different in MEA. It works the same way, but the loot system is a lot more tedious to earn the same weapon and character. Its part of the reason why I stopped playing with it. I remember the amount of money earned is also lower. I could be wrong here. I played both ME3 and MEA pretty aggressively as I find camping insanely boring. Moving around in MEA is a nuisance for the issues I mentioned The map is too cluttered with garbage and its easy to get stuck. I found the best way to be aggressive in MEA is pick an infiltrator or a tank. I had no problem being aggressive with glass cannons like the Fury, Slayer and Drells. And its funny how you act as if MEA MP doesn't have OP builds, bad passives, overpowered kits, etc. Its worse because they didn't learn from ME3 which is forgivable because its their first attempt at MP. And how is having no jump bad? There is not verticality in ME3 maps. Its also sad all the jump melees are the same across all characters just like all standard melees. So lazy. I will admit both games have campy builds, but I found it far more unfun to be aggressive in MEA. Lastly no one here is saying they have problems with the "totally 3D movement" nor is anyone getting mad at your opinions. At least I'm not. So please keep your assumptions. I can admit that ME3 has its issue with bugs and imbalances. But MEA is similarly imbalanced and has issues with lag/glitches as well from my experiences. Its fine if you prefer MEAMP, but I found it incredibly slow and boring and has no life whatsoever. We can agree to disagree, but just don't make baseless assumptions and we'll be fine. Also, ME3 is still played on 360. I was able to find players no problem about a month ago. I understand PC is also quite populated, but PS3 has lack of players. I had a harder time filling a room in MEA on PS4. Don't know about PC.

Moving around in MEA is a nuisance for the issues I mentioned The map is too cluttered with garbage and its easy to get stuck. Lastly no one here is saying they have problems with the "totally 3D movement" nor is anyone getting mad at your opinions. I played it also in 2017 first time and it was very buggy, still is, the bugs are not ironed out neither in MEAMP. The thing is, in 2017 that previous game was ready and patched and "balanced" (which it is not at all) - and MEAMP was starting. Now MEAMP is actually having a good balance IMHO. Not best/great but good. I started it and found it too slow, too buggy and getting constantly stuck on geometry if one doesnt actively evade it, got on my nerves fast with all the other 'features' so I quit and the 'veterans' were harping after that. The thing is... it wasnt fun at all, because of those problems mentioned. I felt like I'm constantly fighting 1. controls, 2. geometry, 3. the bugs. *** NOT FUN ***Loot system seems to be faster in MEAMP with the pity timer, at least the friends who stopped playing previous version, have all said they got stuff faster in MEAMP. There is only one category which would not be needed in the game: Bulwarks. Moving in MEA is like flowing water. Moving in previous one is a chore and I had totally forgot the OMNIBUTTON voes oh my ... I know people who cannot play previous one anymore because its so slow and cumbersome. I know people who dont play MEAMP much anymore after playing Anthem because in Anthem Interceptor made everything look so slow. (RIP Anthem, you showed us BioWare can make even better combat than in MEA which is really something in my books.) The garbage you mention may be good for some kits as they can lift and throw them for instakills. I dunno what problems one would have with these, you can evade and they'll fly away from your path (sometimes the barrels can explode though). You dont get stuck to walls and generic geometry like in that previous one. I said it as a joke, because it seems to me most of them want to be stuck into the ground and are immediately boggled about freedom of movement in the air. Some people really have problems with 3D moving and what that does in this game is... you wont get top scores and the game takes longer I hope it was *** SPICY *** enough take, but also it is how I feel the game is; not the worst but down there on the list in all of my MP experience. Clearly overrated.

Again not sure how spicey this is...but it certainly is contrary to common ME wisdom.
Now the opinion of the vast majority of the fandom and commentators is that ME 1 had such a huge and deep RPG friendly levelling system whereas ME 2 represented a significant step backwards then ME 3 was a step back in the right direction.
But I really disagree. ME1s levelling system was pretty linear for me, and thus weak and not really RPG friendly. There was little in the way of choice of how you could evolve your abilities and play style...aside from the picking of your specialization...whihc just added up adidng one of two more bars to the system anyways. Now the idea where you get different abilities as you levelled up, especially the weapons skills, was kind of nice...but a better way to do it would've been to give you options and choices in those evolutions, like having the base line carnage and then a carnage which could strip down armor OR a carnage which could knock people back. Granted ME 2 wasn't that much better given just giving you an evolution for your final skill...but both 3 and Andromeda continued to improve the process, 3 with more evolutions and Andromeda by going classlesss letting you mix and match and further customize your character.

While I have had plenty of fun playing as both Maleshep and Femshep, I must admit I don't think Mark Meer did a very good job within the series. And this is without even comparing him to Jennifer Hale since he was less experienced, I mean just on his own... I think it's overall not very good. Yes he does get better, but I still wouldn't ever call his voice acting here great. Sometimes I think people are a little too nice with their praise for him, or you know some people actually think he did a great job.

I find Mark Meer does the quiet soft spoken moments better, but Hale is better in the emotional and dramatic scenes. The stand out for me is in ME3 on Rannoch when taking the renegade option to tell the reaper, "Tell your friends we're coming for them." Hale comes across as threatening and confident, where as when I picked it with male Shepard there was very little emotion behind it, and the taunt didn't really land. Its part of the reason why I lean more paragon as male Shepard, Meer's performance works better as the stoic idealistic hero, while Hale's performance fits better when I go paragade. I will say in ME1 Meer came across a bit wooden, but as he got more experience and more comfortable with the role, he came across much better.

I think Meer in ME1 is what I have stuck in my mind the most, so I may be being a bit too harsh. I'll be doing my second run of MELE as Maleshep, so it obviously hasn't deterred me from playing as him. I do agree that he has his moments, almost said that in my original post. Hope you have fun with MELE!

Let me start by saying I enjoy playing femshep. Bioware inadvertently did a great job portraying a badass female soldier. I say inadvertently because Shepard has the same choices and outcomes regardless of being male or female. Even sharing the same animations, except femshep could actually dance in ME1. But I do have one issue with femshep. I really dislike her body type. She is built like a runway model, and it really doesn't fit. In ME2&3 it is easier to overlook because you can change her casual clothing. I am currently re-reading the Silver Wings series by Evan Currie, and his description of the protagonist Sorilla Aida is how I picture femshep for the most part:
"The sergeant was a tall woman, slim but noticeably muscled. Her hair was cut shorter than was fashionable, though not to the shaven extreme that was often implied by entertainment dramas. Her body was probably fitter than would be considered attractive, the tough musculature development of her upper torso tightening and flattening her breasts, for example. While not bulging to the extent of professional bodybuilders, she was hard cut and more solidly blocky then most female fashions idealized."
I think they missed a good opportunity with the LE, and could have at least given femshep and Ashley a bit of muscle.

My SPICY personal opinion is that I didn't make enough cracks about "does this prove indoctrination theory?" when it was relevant because I didn't want to be a jerk. I still don't. And that the endings were an interesting idea with dubious execution. And Leviathan is actually the best DLC, though I'm not sure how much of that is interesting concepts, being entirely optional, good cutscenes, the first Mass Effect DLC with squad interactivity, ect... and how much was that every single line from the Leviathans sounded like a song title from a metal concept album.

I guess my biggest regret is that in this age where classic games are getting full remakes, ME1 gets a sort of halfway house between remaster and remake. It looks and plays better (mostly - I really don't like the gutted atmosphere on Eden Prime, changes to Kelly in ME2 etc etc) but the lack of *any* new content is a real letdown. I knew it was the case but still...
I just think this might hurt ME overall. People are getting used to the idea of proper remakes now. A prettied up Trilogy that still plays like a 10 year old game (this is essentially ME1 Remastered with the others thrown in with mostly nickel and dime changes) and all still full of systems that were broke or user unfriendly even at the time (no real feedback from enemies being shot, op biotics like Lift and Singularity, tedious inventory system, planet scanning in 2, no real attention to the Hammerhead along with the endlessly recycled environs of ME1...)
I'm just not sure if this will wih any new fans frankly. Not in the way a full remake would. I accept that the cost and time would not be inconsiderable but I just can't see non series fans being impressed at all with ME1 being a more old school game than they were imagining. And again, no new content of any kind is a really bitter pill to swallow. Even minor RPGs that get remastered typically get *something*.

The original version of Eden Prime looked like a weird red planet that seemed like a weird choice for a human colony, and in no way matched the "paradise" that Jenkins referred to it as.
The LE improves upon it because now it actually looks like a real planet that humans would actually want to live on, and the destruction leveled by Sovereign, Saren and his Geth troops sticks out a lot more because now there is more contrast.

It loses *all* its atmosphere. It was a brooding, hellish atmosphere. Now its just flat and doesn't hit with anywhere near the same impact. Its not a good change at all.
