I found the original ME1 impossible to beat on insanity. The changes to LE1 made the game beatable without being too easy. LE2 was a bit harder than I remember the ME2 being, but that may be because I played as a vanguard which I don't normally do (ME3 vanguard is so much more fun). LE3 seems much the same but I haven't progressed past Palaven.

Shiiiit maybe it’s just me but one finding ME2 waaaaaaaay harder then I remember! Perhaps I’m just used to ME3, but it seems the second I stick my head up out of cover, my shields have been stripped and I’m at half health (this is not an exaggeration, literally about 1.5 seconds and I’m screwed!) I’m not sure if it’s a bug or what (I’m playing an adept on lolhardcore), but I swear Shep never used to be this squishy, nor did it take me as long to drop an enemy as it does now! Maybe I just got to used to the phalanx pistol (which I still haven’t been able to find! )?

Maybe I just got to used to the phalanx pistol (which I still haven’t been able to find! )? I can think of a couple of things... The first is that if it has likely been your first playthrough without the long service bonus to XP gain in a long time, so you're probably at a lower level than you were at the same points in the game as you are now. The second is that, potentially, in buying DLC weapons and armor, you're not buying the same health-related upgrades that you did in the past, so you're running with less health than you're used to at this point in the game. You may have also been used to wearing DLC armor that also provide boosts to health and shields that you're not wearing now either because you haven't found them yet to purchase or you haven't yet got the lab and materials to research them. Those DLC items used to be available in your inventory as soon as you got the Normandy.
I really don't think the difficulty of ME2 has changed at all. Once I got my usual weapons and armor, it never felt harder than previous runs. When it's felt easier than before to me, it has been due to numbers of enemies failing to spawn. I would replay those inordinately easy battles again and, if all the enemies spawn in, it felt about the same difficulty as it always has before.

Yeah I think 2 and 3 feel moe ror less the asme difficult ywise as the yalways have the only game I think that's reall ychanged is ME1 which I think is even easier due to the weapon restrictionns being removed. The Mako is a bi tless bulle tspongey than befoer though but because it recharges faster I don't think it'll be too much of a problem once people get used to it.

The merchant who gives you a discount for killing pyjaks has it in his inventory. The Kestrel Armor set, which is very powerful and which many got used to using from level 1, is on sale on Illium. The asari Hermia, under investigation by Parasini, is tending the kiosk when you first arrive.

I was playing Sentinel and enemies took out the shields rather quickly. The same didn't happen to a Soldier on Veteran difficulty.

After i've managed it i loaded the abandoned collector ship mission to see if i feel any difference or not. Harbinger seemed a lot more agressive. Meaning he used his a lot more, and also hit me with his powers more. However most of the scion's shockwave shots didn't connect with me and the squad at all, so that basically balances it out. Might be placebo, not sure. I'll stick with the legendary edition.

It's because with a soldier you spend most of your time using adrenaline rush thus in time dilation. So in the end you take a lot less damage, and your weapon damage output is just insane. I'm having a sentinel run atm and the soldier just feels a hundred times more stronger, especially at the beginning of the game. Not having ammo powers and only having the shuriken and the carnifex is just really weak.

Still, I'm not sure I'd put it very far ahead of Sentinel. That's a strong Insanity class. It can strip all defenses. It can combo with other biotics. It has access to Tech (Assault) Armor, which flattens enemies in a huge radius if you do manage to get hit. It's very powerful. Add the Mattock on the Collector Ship, and you have an awesome character that shouldn't ever feel weak or even vulnerable.

I meant the beginning of the game, not the later phase obviously. The shuriken is just akward to begin with and totally not fun gun to play with. The carnifex is nice, but it runs out of ammo fast. Plus unfortunately we need level 2 throw, to unlock warp, and we need level 2 tech armor to unlock overload, therefore multiple missions to acquire enough skillpoints to unlock both warp and overload. Not saying i had difficulties completing any missions, it just took noticeably longer compared to the soldier. Just one example, right side shutter in Archangels base with lots of Vorcha and Krogan. No ammo power, no shotgun, no sniper, no assault rifle, just a shuriken and a carnifex and a level 1 tech armor that barely does anything on insanity.
Did Kasumi's mission after Mordin/Archangel fast btw just to acquire the Locust. That gun is just ridiculously OP. Literally an smg with 100% accuracy because it has no bullet spread. Should have done that mission first before Mordin/Archangel. I think the mattock is also ridicolously OP gun in ME2. I always hated that i needed to play half the game to get my weapon specialization. Should have been an early game decision to be able to use 3rd class of guns and specialze for widow/claymore/revenant later. Personally prefer shotgun specialization for the Sentinel, and get into enemies faces.
One more thing i've noticed. I've just killed enemies the same way when i was level 1-2-3 than when i imported level30 character. I guess enemy defense and hp values scale to my level?

Yeah, everything scales in ME. I agree regarding weapon and armor proficiencies. I took a few games to ditch those as class balancing factors; a relic from TTRPGs like D&D. I always started at Level 5 with a ME1 import, so I've always been fortunate to start with my full power loadout. Starting from 1 definitely limits options at the start. If I'm relying on SMGs, I always recruit Mordin and then head to the Citadel for Kasumi and the Locust. I see Garrus' mission and those shutters cited a lot. I think having Warp, Concussive Shot, the Arc Projector or something else to slow the enemy advance makes it much more manageable.

You are totally right. I just simply refuse to use heavy weapons Thing is, Lolrigin didn't sync well my profiles somehow, so i lost most of my saves from back then. Also happaned with my ME3 saves. It is really annoying. But maybe i just try to import my level 30 soldier and turn it into sentinel class via savegame editor. Maybe i will enjoy the class more that way

ME1 difficulty has been decreased early game for sure, but I think that has less to do with difficulty adjustments and mostly to do with weapon/gunplay changes. I think this is dead right. Insanity is far from trivial, but I can now shoot on target from the start.

Adding Mattock with incendiary explosive cheese to it makes it a ROFLstomp. Insanity with it feels like playing any other class on Normal. If youre good, Vanguard can clear stages faster because it isn't playing half the game in slo mo, but it's way harder to pull off than just AR spamming and melting everything before it can even move out its spawn or shoot. Sentinel can be pretty powerful (prob 3rd overall, toss up between it and infiltrator) but it's mostly down to the tech armor power reset bug. If not for that i'd put it last. It has defense mugging utility but lacks dakka and the ME2 squad can't really do that for you, Incisor equipped snipers aside.

I finished all three games for the first time ever today, and I played all three of them on normal. I found the difficulty in them from moderate to hard at times. In ME1 the Husks and the Geth that stick to the ceiling gave me the most trouble. In ME2 once again the Husks and also the Collectors gave me trouble. In ME3 both the Phantom's and creepy Banshee's gave me trouble. I forgot to mention I am terrible at shooters and while some may find the games easy, the enemies I listed above gave me the most trouble. I also found ME2 to be the most difficult game out of the trilogy.

Yeah ME2 has always been the most difficult for me as I've never completed it withou tdying at least a half dozen times whereas I have aqctually beaten 1 and 3 without dying before. However not that often. In terms of general difficulty I'd say it's probably ME2 ME3 ME1 though for me ME1 has always been the easiest and tbh with the weapons restrictions being removed I think it's even more easier now.

Yeah, it's been a lot of years since I'd last played and my powers-preference leaked into my earlier assessment. I remember noting most of what you said when I first played a Soldier in ME2. It was stunning how much more powerful it was. After ME1, I'd lost interest in gun-users. ME2 opened my eyes to the fact that guns are king in the series, in terms of performance. My current ME1 Shepard is headed toward Soldier for the following two games. It's been too long since I played a flamethrower Soldier in ME3. I've been feeling the itch.

I've felt the same. I'm playing on a higher difficulty then I used to and I'm going into fights I used to die in and breezing through them and am like "wait wat"

Meaning he used his a lot more, and also hit me with his powers more. However most of the scion's shockwave shots didn't connect with me and the squad at all, so that basically balances it out. Might be placebo, not sure. I'll stick with the legendary edition. Yea the shockwaves used to go through cover more often I feel like... Now I was completely find behind cover and didnt even really have to worry about them.

I found everything about the same in terms of difficulty though the fight with Cerberus in the large area in ME3 to rescue Jack and her students seemed more brutal than I remember (which I always found to be the hardest level in ME3 to fight through).

I'm currently playing ME2 on insanity with a new game plus. I did it once before and found it's much harder than starting at level one with a new character or an imported character. That's fine. Either way, the collectors will be dealt with.

Yeah everything felt moe ror less the same difficulty wise only bi gchange was ME1 which feels slightly easier with the removal of the restrictions on weapons. The mako doesn't seem as bullet spongey now though but it does recharge faster so that seems to counter it. ME2 and ME3 feel more or less the same to me just with nicer graphics. I've always died a few times while trying to recruit Garrus in ME2 and I'm still finding that quest just as tough as ever in the LE so like I said no real significant change for me.

I am palying ME2 with my Adept in insanity at the moment and the fights are pretty hard some times. I had to stop the fight against the three big 'Mechs destroying the boxes because I couldn't do it. When I've levelt a bit I'll try again

This one always grant all 20 crates saved, since mechs start destroying crates only if you go down the path and pass certain point.

This one always grant all 20 crates saved, since mechs start destroying crates only if you go down the path and pass certain point. Yeah, using the M-77 Missile Launcher has been the only way I've ever been able to save all 20 crates. Using the Cain usually destroys two crates right off the bat whenever I've tried it. I did manage once to save 16 crates without using a heavy weapon, but that was with a really high-level character and using stasis to, alternating, freeze out one mech and, again alternating, grabbing the attention of the other two mechs to distract them from their targeted crates.
I should also add that, in MELE, the first time I tried this I was a really low level. At one point, the mech I lured up the hill managed to kill both my squad mates and then totally lost interest in fighting me. It instead walked back down the hill and started destroying crates. I'd never had one do that in the old version, so I'm putting it off as a bug. After that, I decides to reload and do some other missions before attempting that one again. When I finally did do it, the M-77 trick worked fine... but then I never hit a point where the mech had downed both squad mates.
